This is a grievous foe indeed. Before the dog and his fellow grunt sits a car. It is not of any particular make or model. As a man far smarter than any canine would say, sometimes a car is just a car.[break][break]
Only today, here and now, it lets two of Rocket’s frontliners blow off some steam. The dog cracks his knuckles, looks over at his taller partner, and grins. He does not long remember Yumi Hasegawa’s conquests, save when they become a problem. Something in the back of his mind whispers there was a problem, but it seems so long ago that he mistakes it for some argument over coffee in the breakroom rather than a matter of life and death.[break][break]
“Ya kicked ass in the gauntlet.” The dog grins, trying to decide which of his Pokemon to send out before settling on Arcanine. His stone dog appears with no fanfare, sees the car, and turns to look at his owner and the human.[break][break]
“Yo! Blitz the damn car already! Yer makin’ me look bad in front of a co-worker!” So the Arcanine turns, so he gathers up fire, and so he blitzes right into the car.[break][break]
“C’mon! Show me whatcha got!”

"not bad, considerin' i thought it was s'poseda be a fighting ring," she says with a shrug. granted, it was still a fighting ring. but she'd thought it would have more to do with her fists. being told to bring six of your strongest pokemon maybe should have tipped her off, but two plus two doesn't equal five sometimes, okay?

when she was asked if she wanted to beat up a car, she said yes, no questions asked. fuckin' immediately. it was only after, while they walked, and while she stared at the back of the black dog's neck, that she realized why he looked so familiar.

it was so long ago it's fine yumi 'n i are fine everything's fine.

and it is fine. more than fine, really, because that hunk of rust is just begging for someone to slit its proverbial throat.

amulius, who has also borne witness to nameless horrors as a side effect of nomi's proximity, preens at the idea of destruction. his arcanine takes the first hit and parker whistles.

"go on, 'mul. kick it."

the bird rockets off, legs streaming with flame. he cries out as he leaves the ground, fire imploding on contact with the rust bucket.

"'nyway, good on that one dude for winnin' it. dunno what i'd even do with a genesect."

“Damn that’s a mean kick!” The dog howls with laughter, cheering the Blaziken on. He rounds upon his cohort, face still split by a grin as his Arcanine gathers up momentum once again. The yet unnamed canine is a competitive beast, and this nice bit of recycling serves well enough for a competition.[break][break]
“I feel ya there. I’dve probably just traded it away if I’d won.” Only after he says the words does he remember they’re always being watched. “To, uh, a Rocket who’s good with that sorta thing. One with lots of type discs. Yeah.” He is a terrible liar. The way he scratches the back of his neck like a bashful schoolboy is a giveaway all its own.[break][break]
“Sorry if this is a stupid question but did we work together before? Swear yer face looks familiar, and not just from the break room.”

great kick. beautiful, really. except amulius kinda scuffs it actually and parker's excitement at seeing little car go BOOM wanes. at the very least, it wanes into determination. amulius seems likewise upset with his performance and as soon as the dog has another go at it, he comes at it from another angle.

"d'you think it had games on it? like, could it replace an xbox? been a bit strapped for cash lately 'n my one broke."

“Huh…” The dog has never considered the possibility of using a legendary war machine as a game console. That brings him delight, told in a wide grin. “Maybe! If ya wanna come over n’ game sometime, I’ve got a playstation.” Innocent of any console war he may or may not have started, he beams anew at being called cool. It makes him stand up straight, straight as he can at 5’3” and a half, and point dramatically at the car.[break]
“Fuck ‘em up, Kagutsuchi!” He dubs the Arcanine with a god’s name, who seems eager to once more smash against the car. This time, Kagutsuchi’s rock head smashes into the car, trying to juggle it in the air like something out of a fighting game.[break]
“We ougtta take jobs together sometime! I need someone who’s good in a brawl to watch my back! Most peeps around here got noodles fer arms.”

amulius does not do much better the next go-around. parker doesn't know if he's just in his head or if he's tired with all the stupid jobs they've had to go out on lately. either way, at least he looks like he's still having fun letting off some steam.

he stops kicking, waits for his next in, claps his hands together, and then blitzes forward with flare.

parker's too poor to have an opinion on playstation over xbox. if anything, she goes, "d'you have crash? i only played it when i went to kidz kutz when i was a tyke."

she snubs her nose. "uh, yeah, sure." she's a solo act when it comes to debt collecting. the last time few times she tried to share the spotlight, well...bax almost died. and then that other time, people did die.

rocket's uppers are a scary bunch.

"if i'm good at one thing, it's havin' big ass muscles."

“Hell yeah!” The dog grins, looking up at his partner in crime and nodding. Vertically challenged though he might be, he prides himself on keeping in shape. “I think I have Crash. I don’t read so good so I dunno. That’s the orange guy, right? I always liked the purple dragon more.” Spyro was the oddest little Bagon in the whole draconid kingdom. Turning his attention back to the car, which is now thoroughly mashed up between the efforts of their Pokemon, he can’t help but want to get in on the action.[break]
“You much of a sword person or d’you let yer fists do the talkin’? You need way more muscle than people think to swing these things around all day! I learned that the hard way when I started workin’ fer Yumi.” As he speaks, he falls into a quickdraw iaido stance. “Watch this. Saw it in a movie one time.”[break]
And only in Hoenn, this land where the fantastic becomes banal, can such a thing be real. He rushes past his Arcanine as fire gathers along the blade’s edge.[break]
“RISING. PHOENIX!” He lashes out, drawing his blade and unleashing a blast burn upon the hapless car.

amulius hits it like a bad bitch and the thing actually catches fire. his feathers are curling, smoking at the edges, but the bird's too busy grinning devilishly at his work to give a shit about the recoil damage.

parker whoops and watches with sparkling eyes as hitoshi does some sick anime shit and puts the rest of it up in flames.

"yaya, the orange guy," she says. she could give two shits about spyro. spyro sounds like a type of mispronounced food and crash sandlash just rolls right off the tongue. he's mega cool, can beat the shit out of people with his sick spin moves and can do a split in midair.

"no needa get fancy, but been told i gotta take it easier on my fuckin' knuckles or i'll get arthritis. so, i take it you're a sword guy?" she almost asks if he's a weeb, but nomi's voice (her impromptu conscious) scolds her, saying that would be rude.
