[attr="class","eris109"]The trip to the clock towers is always a struggle and a half. A long walk in contemplation as she listens to their footsteps fall into rhythm with the pulse of this kingdom.[break][break]

Things like where this kingdom came from or whether it had been here all along are questions that must be asked to entities that have a far greatest grasp on the world that she lives within. And yet, she isn't one to simply take a non-answer and be satisfied. Instead, she is a remarkably foolish soul that dives deeper into this kingdom with journal in hand, despite knowing the dangers of doing so.[break][break]

To record the layout of this fallen history and unravel its lost history. To grasp at the stories that have been washed away with time and in turn, hopefully derive meaning from the lives and choices made by those who once walked these lands. For that is what her mother would have done, what she wishes nothing more than to be able to do in her stead.[break][break]

Pausing upon yet another bridge, she looks up and is graced with a clear view of the tower she seeks. With fingers carefully reaching into her bag and hoisting out a camera, she begins to line up a shot and its focus -[break][break]

"Wait..."[break][break]

She knows that most of the clock towers in this region are dysfunctional, but none of them have a smear across their faces -[break][break]

"Oh boy."

The camera zooms in on a smear. Realization dawns quickly as the smear condenses into a figure dangling from a clock hand.

"HEEEEEEEEEELP MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" A distant scream rang out over the winds of the Mechanical Kingdom towards Small Lady. The man is immediately recognizable from Sea Mauville, though he has somehow found a way across dimensions. It's a terrifying thought, knowing that dinguses could cross between worlds.

It was like learning that Woopers could operate rockets.

"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP!"

Near Eris, a gust of wind almost pushes her from her feet as a Gallade runs quickly, holding a Togepi under one arm as he rushes through the kingdom. Machines are severed and cut in two as the duo march towards the massive clock tower in an attempt to save their leal lord.

[attr="class","eris109"]Alright, the time for site seeing is over. Appearing in a flash of red, Teostra takes flight as soon as Eris climbs right onto his back.[break][break]

"Reiner, help them below! I'll get the other one!"[break][break]

Easier said than done, but when has he ever cowed from a challenge? Lightning crackles and dissipates in his trail, a dastardly grin betraying his thoughts as he races towards the fight. Save for those that ignore his presence, the aggressing machines are treated to a buffet of claws and fangs ripping them apart. All the way towards the Gallade and miraculous little Togepi.[break][break]

"Hey! Mister boy scout!"[break][break]

On her end, the rescue should be marginally easier by all accounts and standards. Just swoop in, pick the guy up and attempt to put him back onto solid ground. Teostra, however, has different plans. Staunch in his refusal to let such a man sit upon his back, heinstead grabs him by the scruff and begins to pull.[break][break]

"Hang on tight!"

As Teostra attempts to pull Rex from the clock hand, Gallade danced across the ground in an attempt to reach his lord first. It's a desperate climb and a lengthy one, as Salamence's wings give it an edge over the knight that races it. Yet as the dragon pulls at Rex, his cries for help turned into cries for anti-help.

"WAITWAITWAITWAITWAITWAITWAI-" Rex shrieked, though the increasing rush of dangling and his life being on the line caused his spirit to soar. The closer he was to the brink, the more he wanted to risk himself. "IDON'TWANNADIEEEEEEEEEEE-"

Togepi waggled his fingers, causing the Gallade to Teleport atop the Salamence's body, before taking a dexterous leap and grabbing Rex in his other arm.

"THANK YOU, GALLADE!" He saluted the dragon as he descended. "THANKS FOR THE HELP!"

[attr="class","eris109"]It takes Eris everything in her to keep Teostra from flipping over, the sharp 'fwip' of his tail indicating his wish to turn on the Gallade and thrash him right then and there. Thankfully, the Gallade descends faster than he does, forcing the dragon to dip and follow after with parted maws aglow.[break][break]

"No!" Her yells are but a note lost in the whistling wind, her hands fumbling for her belt as she picks at his pokeball. Right as the Salamence readies to launch his attack, his head is latched onto by numerous red chains, a forceful tug redirecting the shot towards the skies.[break][break]

A momentary loss in control spells the undignified landing of the dragon and his rider. With his pride smashed right into the ground, he immediately bucks Eris right off, slit-like eyes snapping right onto his next meal.[break][break]

"Nonono -"[break][break]

But before he can lunge right at the Gallade, he disappears, pulled back into the confines of his pokeball where he will surely continue to seethe.[break][break]

"So -" A deep breath. With one hand on her hip, she releases that breath and takes another. Rinse and repeat for a few more times, right as Reiner pulls up with utmost disappointment at the lack of battle. Peering back over his shoulder, he raises a brow at the piles of now defunct clockwork creatures left behind. And he nudges her, scrunching his nose as he jerks his head towards the clock tower door.[break][break]

"Actually, yeah. Let's get inside before we get noticed."

Rex let out a mad laugh as Gallade guided him down to the ground. After landing, Rex let out a bark of pure bliss and enjoyment, his eyes wide and alert.

"That... fucking rocked! That's so fucking cool! I want to do it again!" Rex took a deep breath to compose himself as Eris descended from the heavens. The Salamence disappeared into its container, leaving Rex and Eris to their own devices, featuring Reiner. "Wait... I know you!"

Rex's eyes narrowed, before brightening in recognition. He knew this kid from Sea Mauville.

"We did temp work together! Good to see you, Small Lady!"

He followed her into the depths of the kingdom.

"Don't think you'll wanna hang from a clocktower again if the Corviknight comes round." She waves her hand dismissively, closing the door behind them. "Good to see you, I guess?"[break][break]

At the very least, she can appreciate the company of his Togepi. That little buddy makes up for all his inabilities and a little more. Leading the way up the spiralling staircase, she can't help but peer back over her shoulder every few minutes, as if she might just find him hanging off one of the railings one of these times.[break][break]

"So, mind explaining why you were there?"

"Good to see you too, small lady." Rex gave her a look, before whistling at the mechanical marvels that surrounded them. A dozen sci-fi movies couldn't have prepped him for this. It was a mix of fantasy, fiction, and science merged into one. "Well met. Didn't think I'd see you here on a training exercise."

Togepi waggled his fingers before Rex quickly stopped the incoming Metronome. While Togepi's Metronomes were typically lucky, Rex wasn't risking them here.

"I'm training so I can fight the prince! I live in Littleroot, it's not exactly a hard trip." Only in this clownfest of a region was traversing worlds 'not a hard trip', but there was truth to his words. "Why are you here?"

Training exercise. The prince? She squints long and hard at him, but chooses to withhold her tongue in favour of watching where she steps. One rickety step near the very top, one rotted board and you could find yourself tumbling an awful way down.[break][break]

"Well, nothing fancy like what you're doing." She sighs, hoisting herself one last step up onto the main landing. From her satchel, she pulls out a wrench, whistling as she takes a moment to take in the inner machinations of this tower. "I'm here to fix this place up."
