A long rest steeped in pitch black. That's all it ever felt like for Noel. Who knows just how long he's been in this suspended bliss. Or if he will ever wake up. In his dreamland, his mind protects him from the outside. Yet this world is fractured, broken up into tiny pieces where, try all he like, they just wouldn't fit together.[break][break]

Faces that he can't recognize, places where he swears he's never been before. And names that are just on the tip of his tongue.[break][break]

His brain was ready to burst. Screams that echo out internally throughout his body yearning to be released. Until at last, one breaks through.[break][break]

Eyes swing wide open, moving erratically all over as his body jolts forward in one motion. Heavy breathing escapes his mouth as if this were his first gasps of air. One hand reaches up towards his head, as if pressing on it would relieve the pain. Everything looks hazy and nothing feels safe.[break][break]

"W-What happened...? Where am I?"[break][break]

He asks to the void, unknowing of just who or what could be standing in front of him.

eyes drifted away from the screen of his phone to the unconscious man turned conscious.

"i found you asleep at the beach," he tells noel. "i tried to look for id, but i couldn't find any with you."

he definitely wasn't looking for a wallet for any other reason. it was just protocol for when someone gets in an accident.

putting away his phone, he reaches forward to grab a separate device that alerts the nurses that the patient has woken up. they had a few moments to talk before someone would come in the room to address the situation.

"oh, yeah. welcome to slateport's public hospital. i didn't know your name so i just told them to ask you yourself when you wake up."

kyle raises a brow as a slight smile appears. curiosity forces the question out of his lips.

"how did you end up at the beach anyways?"

After a moment Noel finally calms himself down and begins to steady his breathing. Eyes scanning all around the room until they meet the voice that assailed him with questions. He was... familiar, yet for some reason Noel couldn't pinpoint exactly why.[break][break]

"The beach?... I... don't know... When I try to think back it's like my brain is getting stabbed by a knife over and over..."[break][break]

No information could be gleaned from his natural memory bank. A sharp pain seeps into his head at every attempt to recollect his thoughts. All he could do was simply lay back in his bed, defeated and indistinguishable. His gaze traces once more to Kyle.[break][break]

"I'm sorry, I really don't know. Thanks for helping me out but, who are you?"

"you can just call me kyle."

he produces a card with his entire name: private investigator, kyle lopez. he hands it to noel-- or leaves it by the bedside table if he was not interested.

"oh, and do you mean you can't remember anything?" he asks back, clarifying words from the person at the bed. "that's something serious."

kyle leans back on his seat and crosses his arms, pensive with his thoughts as insignificant worries bubble up from the circumstances. he grows pale as the realization dawns on him.

it should be the last thing to think about, but it surfaces more than more serious matters.

"that means we don't have any means to pay for your treatment."
