Somewhere in Petalburg Woods rests the monkey king. None can deny that he is a monkey of merit, resting forever free among the treetops. His flames scorch woods already burned, crushed, destroyed. War has come to Hoenn and this monkey cares not. All he cares about is a good fight. For his sins, he’s given his heart’s desire.[break]
Rocket has dispatched two fine killers. Inoue Hitoshi and Aoki Hana are the best of the best when it comes to taking lives. This monkey will fall before them, as many others have. He rests in a clearing, surrounded by goods pilfered from Petalburg and Kanto Rockets. There’s alcohol – loads of the stuff. That the Infernape’s great fire hasn’t set it off and scorched the woods clean is a miracle worthy of Ho-oh himself.[break]
“No way it’s gonna be this easy.” Whispers Hitoshi as he draws his sword, creeping up on the sleeping monkey. “No way in hell.”[break]
He’s right. The monkey opens his eyes, cracks a wide grin, and punches him square in the chest. Hitoshi flies back, hitting a tree. The monkey king hoots in triumph, jumps into a tree, and grins down at them.[break]
The fight is on.

Speak and you will make it so.

And so the Dog is attacked, thrown across the forest floor. Hana's blades shoot from her sides and she grasps each in her hand, feeling the caress of the cloths wrapped around her wrists seeped in grudges.

"Was tired of bein' quiet anyway! Yo, Monkey King!"

Hana raises her blade to the heavens, gesturing to the canopy above. The moonlight soaks into the blade, distracting the ape while her second melts to shadow beneath her. It only takes a moment, but as the Infernape stops to gawk, her blade emerges behind him and strikes -- a shadow sneak while he's not looking.

Were he just any monkey, that might work. This is no mere monkey. He is a monkey of merit. Her sword comes from the shadows to strike him. It flies, flies true, flies right for him. His tail wraps around the Katana’s grip. He twists his whole body, spinning and sending the sword back to Hana. It’s his special delivery, coupled with a high, boisterous laugh.[break][break]
“Wah ha ha ha ha ha!” Though he can speak no words, the monkey king can laugh. Shrouded in his golden light, he too falls upon her. Flames gather all around him, a wheel of the stuff. He surges at her with such speed that most humans could not perceive it with the naked eye. She promises him a good fight, and that is the most dangerous thing one could do in the presence of such a mighty monkey.

A flash of steel. Hana's blade rises up to meet it before she processes what it is. Her blade goes flying into the sky, and Hana grasps her sword with both hands and drives it forth at the sudden burst of fire, a sacred sword to match the ape's fury.

"Keep on laughin', ya filthy animal!"

The edges of her kimono set alight. Hana balks at the heat. Her eyes dart upward, at the airborne blade come falling down to meet the monkey king from the heavens -- an aerial ace to skewer him from on high!

And skewered the monkey is, right as his fist makes contact with the lady samurai’s other sword. It pierces through his shoulder, drinks of wild blood, and all the monkey can do is grin.[break][break]
“Eheh heh heh heeeeeh!” He fades away like so many candles in the wind, reduced inch by inch to ashes until all that’s left is one single hair – a substitute by the barest definition of the word. Out from the underbrush jumps another of this tricky Monkey, swinging a branch like a staff down upon her.[break]
“Watch it!” Shouts a stray dog, whacking away the stick and feeling it reverberate through his whole arm. It is a harsh shadow steal, one that nearly broke his arm. It is worth it, for the sword now holds the power of close combat.

Hana lets out a grunt of anger as her hopes are dashed, and the monkey's image flickers out of existence right in front of her. She had watched him carefully, but even that could not account for his speed and special abilities.

"Fuck, almost had 'im!"

She spins on her heels, too slow to bring her blade up in time to counter the ape's attack. It is Hitoshi's blade that meets the stick this time, and she's thankful for his help, even if it wounds her pride. She would rather be wounded physically.

"Now what, ape!?"

Hana takes the momentary pause in action to leap toward him, attacking him bluntly with all her strength -- an iron head.

“This fucker’s tough!” Laughs Hitoshi, a mirror of the fiery monkey king. Two on one are poor odds for these humans, armed with their sticks and thinking they can stand against one of such pedigree. Their foe cracks his knuckles, bouncing high into the air. He lands against a tree, bouncing. Again and again and again he bounces all around, building up momentum with every attack.[break]
“Shit, what I’d give to catch him if he can do this to the League!” Though the words are marred with mirth, his eyes follow the pattern of the mighty monkey. As Hana enacts her iron head, so does Hitoshi enact his own trick. Their foe’s aerial ace lands in a crescendo of steel on pure kinetic wind, a clash that blasts them back…[break]
…until all the force of the wind seems to disappear. Inoue Hitoshi’s sword grasps the wind, having used shadow steal to force it around the blade.[break]
For the first time, the monkey king is injured. Hana’s blow lands. He howls in rage.
