A humid, lush jungle surrounds you. The heat is unbearable and the air is thick. Sweat clings to the skin like a Spidops' silk.[break][break]

Suddenly, a deafening explosion sounds behind you. A volcano has erupted. A lethal pyroclastic descends upon you and your Cyclizar, and you must race against the clock for your lives.[break][break]

it had been an odd day. odd days led to odd decisions, like embarking on a solo rks journey for the first time.[break][break]

though the air was warm and humid, the scientist felt a chill. she realized, out of all the simulations she’d been through, all the closely assessed reports, there had been no mention of the place she found herself in.[break][break]

after the explosion, she held on tight to the back of a cyclizar. they flew past wide emerald leaves and heard the popping of dying trees. she recalled the streets of a future city in a similar scenario, but instead of the cops, this one had rushing lava.[break][break]

though she’d had other theories, a simpler conclusion came to her that moment.[break][break]

“it’s all just a game.”[break][break]

like the thing in the cloud, and rondez-view of luv. perhaps it was not some tool, generating more universes. maybe it was little more than a sampling of the minds of universe 820, delivered as a reality show for the hell of it.[break][break]

as lava rushed closer, she noted a flash of white hair through the trees. she leaned, turning the cyclizar in pursuit of whoever it was.[break][break]

the assistant she'd rigged in with hadn't materialized beside her. she waited as long as she could, with her digital cyclizar (though all too real to the naked eye) growing increasingly nervous with each passing moment, but eventually she had to move on. the lava would take them if they didn't move.

she tucks loose strands of hair and her braids into a pony, humidity sticky on her neck. the cyclizar hums as she mounts it and without much urging, it takes off running.

the undergrowth gives it little problem; the tire-like sacs on its front deflate to give it better maneuverability across the terrain. her gaze darts to an opening where she knows she'd find a cave, but she nudges the dragon onward, curious to see what lay ahead.

anticipation prickles her skin and she looks over her shoulder, but finds nothing save the thick swathe of trees and their shadows.

the forest steamed and sang death. rough terrain and trees yet to bow broke the straight, cyclizar and rider bending around a short slope to come out closer to the mysterious white-haired woman they pursued.[break][break]

then, the telling profile. there she was: queen of dragons, thief from the tree of life, councilwoman. the one lulu had failed to kill, but one she was now utterly certain she’d been accurate in identifying.[break][break]

”hologram bitch.” a distant echo under her breath, before she urged the cyclizar, ”get closer!”[break][break]

through clever navigating and lucky shape of the earth, soon, they were practically side by side.[break][break]

”freya!” it was a name she couldn’t recall ever using, but everything else seemed like a lie. meaninglessly regal, a joke on humanity. [break][break]

”you’re one of them, aren’t you?”[break][break][break]

she has not seen lulu flint since their clash on the beach of that resurfaced isle, when the woman was an obstacle in her way to protecting a man who (unbeknownst to her still) had tormented them both.

her cyclizar feels the pounding of more draconic talons against the earth and it tosses its head, warning its mistress of the incoming danger. freya turns her head and her surprise twists into a snarl.

behind them, the inevitable hum of encroaching lava.

that can wait.

"what are you talking about, flint?" and how are you here? she turns her shoulder away from a passing tree; its branches sting her cheeks. but when they pass, she leans back in, and swipes, nails extended, at the miserable wildcard of a woman who'd shot her.

A ROAR OF TIME can be heard and suddenly, you feel your surroundings fast forwarding, rewinding, pausing. Your body and Cyclizar teleport in and out of time and space before you find yourself on a cold rock outcropping.[break][break]

Before you, a Dialga stands menacingly. Its chest diamond is a blood red and orange, magmatic veins course through its body. Suddenly, it charges toward you in a frenzied state.[break][break]

flint. it was surprising to hear her name in a simulation, from someone who hadn’t come along with her, but she played along.[break][break]

“tch. you have them all fooled.”[break][break]

with the turmoil the region had gone through, the heroic imagery of their government was embraced – a meme that only just survived, despite their stumbling through oblivion from whatever hands of fate they’d called upon themselves.[break][break]

so much glory and forgiveness, undeserved.[break][break]

“melt with me, dragon,” she lunged, grabbing onto freya’s horns to pull her roughly off the cyclizar and to the ground. only, it would not be the ground either of them would expect. instead, it was cold. There was a jarring change in the air.[break][break]

a large silhouette lingered in her peripheral vision, yet to move, but vaguely noted through the struggle.[break][break][break]

they're not yet second nature so when lulu goes grasping for air, freya is shocked to feel a weight bowing her head, shoulders tightening on instinct. but too late - she tumbles off the back of her cyclizar and hits the ground hard, rolling over the woman in an exasperated tangle of limbs.

she reminds herself that she cannot die here. the lava had come to burn them alive. she's drowned before, too, watching sunlight disappear above rolling waves, and always she had come back out in one piece.

still, she will not give her the satisfaction.

"make up your mind," she snarls as she lashes out with her fist to the woman's stomach. "hologram or dragon?"

the omniscient presence moves to charge them and, in a bid to spare herself the pain of being struck, she shoves all of her weight into lulu to pull them both out of the rampaging dragon's path.

there had been less outlets in her life lately. yet, violence was a heat that remained in waiting, burning under snow, a rage everlasting.[break][break]

finally, there in that simulation, she could feel bruising flesh and sharp bone, and blood in her teeth. for a second, the hair was blonde and not white and eyes blue and not gold.[break][break]

she coughed out from a nauseating punch.[break][break]

”you tell me. you're a fraud, regardless!”[break][break]

and then they were rolling across the cold ground, out of the way of the rampaging god that charged just past them. her eyes went wide, her heart skipping a beat before she threw another punch and tried to scramble to her feet to get a better look.[break][break][break]
