“I’ll be happy . . . eventually,” her gaze settles anywhere but ahead of her. It flashes to the creek, the glistening beads of water dripping from Mehira’s ruby red wings. It’s no secret Eva isn’t happy. Anyone could see it. Despite her efforts to hide it, she’s lost, fractured, a servant without purpose. She exists in mediocrity in a world that demands the extraordinary.

Life is a train hurling down the tracks with no brakes. She runs from the pain that lies behind her only to find more waiting for her ahead. There’s no choice but to carry on, and that’s what she will do. Resilient and hopeful in the face of what most would consider hopeless and overwhelming circumstances.
