For a moment, Xuying doesn't even quite realise he's in a simulation - while not fully familiar, there is still a distinct feeling of home that this workshop has. It looks only a nudge messier than the workshop he has back in Unova. And, of course, on the table ... some odd device. He looks at the unknown logo, seemingly from some past unknown, and scrunches his nose.[break]

Looking over to the person he entered this oddity with, he points towards one corner of the workshop, "hey, can you check the corner there? Maybe find something that looks useful." Whatever 'useful' really means - in the meanwhile, he is off to see if there isn't some manual to be found ...

That device had an eerily familiar symbol on it, one that Andrea recognized at a glance. She kept that information to herself as an unknown trainer asked for her assistance.

“Sure, lemme check!” The onesie-clad woman replied, searching the scrap pile alongside a Fuecoco that looked like her spitting image. Eventually, she found a screwdriver and some batteries.

“Will these help? By the way, have you ever met a Pokémon called Unown?” The crocodilian cosplayer inquired, trying to make some small talk while the young mechanic did his work.

Regardless of your level of familiarity with this member of the DRK Triad, it does not make what they say any less unsettling.

"-Yes, I think those should be worth a try! Let me see ..." With some good-hearted trial-and-error and the help of this - Fuecoco-esque cosplayer (?) - enthusiast (?) - he won't even question it (yet) -, they manage to find enough scrap metal pieces that seem to work together, and if nothing else, Xuying is quite good at improvisation, one would say. He also decides to pull out his partners, although the Porygon-Z is as useless as ever, while the shiny Rotom strangely refuses to get into the device when its usually so enthusiastic about things. It's at that point that he hears Andrea's question, looking at her curiously, "Unown? I think ... I did, but what about them?"[break]

It's when the voice suddenly starts up, reminding him painstakingly of that one professor he had during his university days, but ... this is definitely not them. It's much more - he doesn't even know if he wants to think about it. "... D-do you know anything about this? Uhm, actually, what should we do with it?" He knows they just repaired it, but there is also an uncanny feeling of taking it with them when the voice has already been so ominous about it. Or maybe he's wrong?

Upon hearing Maldacena’s familiar, off-putting voice chime through the repaired PokeGear, the reptile-costumed woman visibly tensed up. Was he real, or was he merely part of the simulation? Not knowing the answer was dreadful.

“Destroy it. We can’t take stuff from the simulation back home anyway.” The eccentric cosplayer replied, before taking a deep breath. “That Macadamia guy is part of a group of really bad people who use Unown for their own evil purposes. Whenever one of those people shows up in the simulation, weird things tend to happen…”

As if on cue, right as she concluded her exposition, the eerie sound of a coin being flipped echoed behind them.

He honestly hasn't thought much about the voice - not to the extent that it seems to matter, much more than some sorry meme about professors of a past bygone ... It makes him shiver himself, though he'll definitely have to remember 'Macadamia guy'. "Can't say I've heard of it, no ... sounds sketchy," Xuying remarks, eyebrows furrowed as he looks at the simple PokéGear device that seems to hold much more than meets the eye. Still, before it can speak again any more and while Andrea is still explaining things, he takes the closest hammer he can find, and give it a couple of good, hard hits until it is even more broken down than it used to be.[break]

Just as he contemplates hitting it another time, just to be sure, it seems that one figure after another - one sketchier than the other - is morphing forth from the changing simulation. And one he cannot help but step back from, looking over to the Fuecoco-esque appearance beside him. "Do you know this guy? What should we do?" he whispers to her.

“Dionysus…” The reptilian cosplayer hissed at the coin-flipping figure. From her reaction, it was pretty clear that she knew this man. “He’s one of them!”

Heads or tails? Andrea picked the third option: Attack.

“I don’t want ‘something nice’! I’m done playing your games! Jalapeño, use Dragon Hammer!” The Sygna Suited girl exclaimed.

Empowered by its trainer’s RAGE, the Fuecoco’s tiny frame was enveloped in a draconic aura, as it lunged at Father Winter.

To be honest, he has not expected this kind of turn of events - unaware of the wars raging behind this man, the kind of anger that must ignite in this moment in the other he has guessed to be more level-headed in their recent interactions ... but he figures, everyone has something that enrages them - a different reaction to all that is and isn't happening in the world. Specifically as she is privy to knowledge that must have slipped him in the times he spent in Unova, isolated in the Pinwheel Forest and dedicated to fixing the small and big problems of the coven around the tech they have.[break]

But, sure - if she'd like to follow that path, he won't quite so hinder that from happening, even as his battle prowess is next to none. Still, he summons X the Metagross to his side, "Hyper Beam on that guy!"

Frankly, Andrea had not expected that to work. NPCs tended to be unkillable. In this case, however, it worked a bit too well. Staring in abject horror at Father Winter’s mangled remains, it took her a few precious moments to realize that they had literally just committed a felony.

“Gotta get outta here!” The young PokéManiac instinctively started running. There was no way she was letting them put her back in a cell. Had she been in a better mental state, she might have realized that this scenario was about to end and that she was in no actual danger.

Xuying has not fought quite that many battles in his life, but he knows that it should definitely not look like this - a figure torn apart by the Hyper Beam, fallen under the various attacks and the kind of insanity that has taken place. This figure should have defended itself somehow, or that should have been the norm, not just watching and cackling as slaughter happens. Deeply irritated by what just happened, he looks over to Andrea - who seems to realise about the same.[break]

Quickly, he hurries with her towards the end of this scenario, too, though unsure what might be in her head as his mins is still perplexed by what just happened. "That was - really weird," he can only comment as the scenery shifts anew. He has so many questions. Maybe he should actually take a history lesson, or fifteen.
