NECESSITY

FREYA X YUINA

THE NAGANADEL LOOKS BETWEEN THE TWO. Soundlessly, the creature hovers with its stinger pressed to the air. Its swollen abdomen pulses and something wriggles beneath the purple hide like a brain.

And then it's off.

Quickly, quickly, it soars through the draciary. The dragon waits for no one. With speed rivalling Josh Devlin's ilk, the Naganadel flies out of the artificial cavern's mouth.
Chase it.

In the impossibly heavy seconds to follow, Yuina felt sick over what could happen, what wouldn't, if this would make things worse, if it would help... If she would get anything or nothing, or something she yet again didn't ask for... There were so many uncertainties that she was shaking with rage, desperation, fear... Even hope. And then it was dashed.[break][break]
Just like every distortion that discarded her, just like every portal that damned unown opened for that woman, this too was leaving her. She was being left to drown, to be shut away in the dark, to be held by the strings of a fate that she couldn't know, just sit, wait, be good, be patient, stay alive...[break][break]
She was sick of it.[break][break]
In the seconds to follow as the Naganadel dashed away, Yuina wasn't going to be left again, not if she had to chase it for the remainder of this life and the next. In a seething, black ire that threatened the fragile threads at her finger tips, Yuina drew out another Pokeball and took to Harrow's back, clutching his feathers. His crest burned alight with her fury, his sixth sense drawing in her emotion, fueling him. Without word, she gave chase to the Naganadel as they swept out of the cavern.[break][break]

yuina, on all accounts, is faster than she is. the only dragons within the cave are her tyrantrum and kommo-o and neither are able to follow the naganadel on foot. so while yuina rushes outward with a flurry of feathers, freya takes off at a sprint, hands in her mouth to whistle loudly.

albeit massive, lyune isn't fast enough to keep up with the creature. when he touches down alongside ori, she snaps him back into his ball and launches herself into her faster dragon.

a tailwind spurred behind them catches them up to harrow and yuina just as they dart over the top of the draciary's dome. when he surges to match her pace, freya shouts over the wind, "prepare yourself!"

anticipation plumes through her, though for what, she doesn't know.

NECESSITY

FREYA X YUINA

THE NAGANADEL BLITZES PAST brine-blown grasses. Ahead, the hilly slopes of Ever Grande wind toward a bustling, dignified city. Civilians and officials can be seen carrying about their day.

Even during wartime, there is a liveliness to this parliamentary city: an encapsulation of the Hoenn people's resilience and majesty.

The NAGANADEL brings them on a splendid chase. Not the most expedient route. Not the most convenient one either. Perhaps, it has captured a scent and it is following its lagging scarf.

Through the city and over Victory Road, it takes them.

Chase it again!

Watching the Naganadel zip away into the air, taking to Harrow's back to pursue it, everything else fell away as Yuina clung to the Braviary's feathers and urged him forward. It didn't matter then if Freya had taken after her or not then, it didn't matter if she was going to be lead to the ends of the earth and gone, she only knew pursuit and nothing more.[break][break]
Effortlessly the stinger dragon rushed over hills and slopes, and Evergrande City was beneath them as Harrow pushed with his powerful wings to keep pace. If she lost the dragon, if she lost this chance, Yuina was sure that would be the last foothold before she would be lost to the uncertainties entirely.[break][break]
"What's this far north," Yuina questioned, they were leaving the city behind and moving into the wilderness beyond. Was this all a fool's errand and they would just chase the Naganadel into nowhere?[break][break]

the tailwind helps them keep pace and as they near yuina, the wind rushes under harrow's wings too. the cityscape becomes a blur beneath them and freya hunkers down against her dragon's back.

she spares a glance at yuina after the woman doesn't respond and sees hard determination on her face. with grim satisfaction, she brings her full attention back to the receding purple shape in front of them. they fly past the city proper. heads turn as their shadows stretch over streets.
