They find their way to a clearing and he stops a moment to admire what he can see of the forest. Its quite the sight and only broken apart by the sound of another bug, this one zooms through the forest as fast as it can. It breaks through the clearing and Evan only barely ducks in time before it zooms past and turns around back to his pokemon. it dances up to them before the night slash descends.

The mimikyu is fastt o hide behind her friend who uses his psychic to deflect the attack away from them with a sweep of energy. The same energy begins building in the area, watching for the pokemon's next move. in the mean time the pokemon is distracted by a sneaking shadow, whipping up into the air to try and take it down. The pokemon is slapped but avoids being grabbed, only becoming grounded once the future sight hits and the shadows wrap around it to hold it down.

Evan releases his cottonee to finish the deal, if only because it'll ake things a little easier to have more stun spores laying around.

the toss of a ball finishes things. one more for the party.

Evan is realizing that the farther in they go the more vicious the bugs are and he's really not sure what to think about that. It's not like it's his first time in petalburg woods either but it is the first time during this time of the year. He's starting to get the idea of why there's probably a bug contest right now.

The scyther swoops in with an air slash, the attack knocks back his munna and mimikyu but they are fast back on their feet while he retrieves the drifting cottonee. They're starting toget the hang of things, developing a rhythm of pinning, confining and capturing the bug pokemon.

Shadow sneak grounds them despite how much the bug struggles and he has to make an effort to avoid wayward attacks while his Munna pins the pokemon down once and for all.

Once the cottonee is returned tot he field he dances around the pinned pokemon leaving stun spores in his wake. Once the pokemon's is sufficiently left unable to move evan digs into the seemingly bottomless supply of pokeballs he's been given for another one.

something warm radiates heat in the distance and his mimikyu's attention is caught. She runs off even as he tries to catch her and keep her form going too far. She's curious and determined and won't e told no. The little pokemon scurries almost faster than he can keep up.

she finds the little fire bug on a low branch of a tree, curled up and seeping soundly. She looks up at it longingly as if to say she wants to join the bug in its nap time and he has to scoop her up in his arms and hug her tight to keep her from disturbing it. If you wanna be friends so bad we'll take it home and keep it okay?" he whispers down to her and she nods so hard she almost looses her disguise.

one to keep his word evan throws a pokeball, hoping to catch the small critter by surprise before it wakes.

Their attention is caught again by a sound Evan is quite certain he's heard before somewhere along the lines. The tunes of a kricketot are something one remembers.

Once they find their mark they nestle in to listen awhile. There is a cluster of them chatting amongst themselves and it's quite a thing to hear. Evan is grinning from ear to ear even as his pokemon begin to squirm and grow restless. They are far more eager to continue on the hunting adventure they have been on thus far. And that is when his Munna has a phenomenal idea. Using his psychic he dangles the cottonee up high above the group fo wild pokemon and lets the gras type shower them with stun spores until they try to scramble. One in particular is left behind as the others manage to scitter about, having been hit the hardest by the spores.

Evan tosses a ball. He wouldn't mind having a little buddy around the bar anyway.

Evan manages to break off from the pack after being surrounded by a flurry of leaves. He imagines one of the grass types that inhabit the area probably stumbled upon them snatching up so many bugs and decided to take matter into their own hands.

The trio of pekemon comb through the forest trees seeking him out. He's a rather noteworthy human so he can't be too hard to find right.

It takes the pokemon awhile, they seem to be getting close to run out of light when they find him in between the roots of a tree. Hugging something.

The shuckle lays its head on his shoulder and trills and wiggles at the presence of the other pokemon.

Evan looks at his own with a flustered face of shame.

"I made a friend."

he transfers the thing to a pokeball, because it's definitely going home with him.

It seems to be practicing and Evan is quick to decide against approaching the pokemon. The substance it seems to have used to create a mote around itself with does not look appealing. The forest is rife with status effect and it si something he knows the usage of well. His own pokemon often taking advantage of various ones.

He just kind of watches it for a moment before looking at his pokemon. They used a rather nifty tactic a bit ago... maybe they could just do that again? He thinks. They look at him and seem to get what he's waiting for. The munna hovers the little ball of cotton over the pokemon and shakes it. The little thing yelps as the stun spores rain down upon the wild pokemon and it seems surprised by the sneak attack from above. The tries to get out of it but its body doesn't obey, the spores taking effect with ease.

"Little underhanded but effective." evan murmurs to himself. he always feels bad using tactics like this but the wilds know no shame and he knows it.

the pokeball should hit home, he'll try and make it up to the pokemon later.

They return to their searching and it takes awhile for something else to be encountered. Evan assumes its the doings on the contest, pokemon often scatter in response to a threat and he imagine the less hostile bugs have started to go into hiding from the higher amount of traffic in the area. Curious ones like the burmey he's about to encounter however, take their chances to be known.

It drops from a tree and lands right on him and clings to his shoulder while he moves to stave off the foe. Honestly he's finding himself more and more inclined against certain bugs. It only takes a moment though for him to realize that the pokemon isn't like some of the others.

The little leaf covered thing stares up at him with curious eyes and he just kind of stares back for awhile, both watching each other as if they're waiting for the other to do something that warrents a response.

after awhile he very gingerly reaches for a pokeball and the burmy watches his hand move. With a fast motion he uses the pokeball on it if only to make sure no attacking is needed.

He really doesn't want to have a stun spore stuck to him... again.
