[attr="class","postbox"] [attr="class","posticon"]  'Academic', huh? Having a good head on his shoulders was probably what landed this guy in his position in Sapphire in the first place. Eddie's own qualifications were rooted more in obstinate jackassery, if he was being honest with himself, [break][break] “Well!” Eddie began with an enthusiastic clap, [break][break] “Then lemme take a sec ta spin ya a yarn! Oh, and lemme get the big guy out, in case he's got anythin' ta add.” [break][break] Besides, Terrakion would only tolerate the captivity of a Pokeball for so long. It was convenient for travel, but to be bound by some paltry human contraption was a debasement the Sword would only have so much patience for. [break][break] In a flash of red, the Cavern Pokemon emerged, all steel-gray hide and perilously sharp horns and piercing eyes. He offered a curt bow to Gwyar in a fashion not unlike their first meeting, but Eddie imagined that the Sword possessed some familiar and genuine respect for a fellow sword-bearer, [break][break] “So! Uhhh, where ta start?” [break][break] Eddie paused and scrubbed his stubbled chin. Maybe he ought to take it from the top? That'd probably be good, just to have some context, [break][break] “Oh, yeah! So, I actually first met the big guy a couple'a months ago at the Battle a' Petalburg. Me an' some folks were squarin' up with some Rockets when he – ” Eddie nodded at the bull, [break][break] “Burst onta the scene ta pitch in! Actually stuck with me fer a bit, 'til we had ta high-tail it outta there with @/noah. Real bad scene, but at least we got a couple'a decent shots in.” [break][break] He lifted his hands and turned them to show the last traces of warped, twisted scar tissue across his knuckles. In the grand scheme of things, Eddie was probably lucky he walked away with such relatively minor injuries, considering he had tried to go all mano a mano on a Dynamaxed Regice and had nearly been poisoned by some grunt who had some really hurtful things to say about his taste in fashion. [break][break] But now it was time for chapter two of this grand tale, [break][break] “But the weird thing was, Terrakion kinda just stuck around after that.” [break][break] The Sword grunted dismissively, [break][break] “Well, ya did!” Eddie asserted, before returning his attention to Gwyar properly, [break][break] “But its a good thing he did, 'cause our next job was ta track down Keldeo. A lotta the League's top brass were caught up in a lotta the fallout from those first couple'a battles, so I got the call ta head out. I grabbed a buddy'a mine, and Terrakion helped track Keldeo down to the Border.” [break][break] Eddie's voice began to grow in volume in spite of himself; with a new flush to his cheeks and a glimmer in his eye, he began to gesticulate excitedly as he continued. Now they were getting to the good part, [break][break] “So we get there, right, an' I'm tellin' my buddy about the Swords a' Justice, but then BAM! We get separated! An' then this thick fog comes in, an' then the big guy an' I find Keldeo, but then, an' you ain't gonna believe this next part, goddamn Kyle Lopez showed up, except he was, like, a ghost or somethin'!” [break][break] It was a wonder he hadn't depleted all of the air in his lungs at this point, but Eddie showed no signs of stopping, [break][break] “An' Keldeo was all like bam!, an' Terrakion was all like 'grrrrr', an' Kyle was, like, givin' the big guy a real hard time, but in his defense, Terrakion was tryin' ta handle everythin' by himself and was bein' real stubborn about it – ouch!” [break][break] The side of a rocky horn abruptly knocked Eddie in the ribs – not enough to cause any real injury, but enough to clearly indicate that it was time to wrap this up. The soldier shot the Sword an accusatory look before he reached his conclusion, [break][break] “But, uh, long story short, I just kinda butted in when Terrakion was dead set on fightin' Keldeo alone.” [break][break] When he was dead set on facing the shade of his former companion alone. Eddie had lost some of this enthusiastic momentum, but he smiled still, with genuine fondness, [break][break] “'Cause that's what he did fer me, back in Petalburg. And 'cause I know what its like ta feel like you gotta be the big man an' keep everyone safe, even if you outta let yer friends help ya with the heavy-liftin' every now an' again. I think we're both kinda stubborn like that.” [break][break] But, this was all a bit much to be unloading on one guy he had only just met. Eddie laughed and clapped a hand to the back of his own neck and rubbed it sheepishly. Next to him, Terrakion huffed and looked away, though the Stalwart knew it was with a similar sheepishness, [break][break] “So! Is that enough info fer yer 'research', bud?”[attr="class","bottom"]
