The tremendous heat of the HYPER BEAM vaporizes anything in its way. The wrath of the sky god borrows powers vested from the sun and fire alike, breaking down numerous Ultra Beast as it cuts through the air. Celesteela takes a stand against the attack and brings both arms up, projecting a WIDEGUARD that struggles to withstand the attack but buys Mateo enough time to escape and avoid an early demise. [break][break]

The young dragon master leaps off the side of the broken pillar and flies off the safety with his Noivern. The BOOMBURST crashes with a gigantic boom and the sound waves tickle the Rayquaza's sturdy scales, causing the vibrate in response as the prick against its side is ignored. All Mateo's attack seemed to do was add another sting to the Pokemon as the Kartana continue to assault the mighty dragon, biting into the mighty beast as it continues to bleed out from numerous scratches. However, not all of the Ultra Beast stay focused on Rayquaza. The passive Kartana from before turn around when some of them are struck by the BOOMBURST and start to fly downward toward Mateo and his Noivern, arms aglow as they look to sever flesh from bone. [break][break]

His Druddigon lands another blow and this one seems more accurate, a precise ball of dragon energy that nails the Rayquaza along its endless mass. The attack is also ignored but multiple attacks, no matter how minor, will start to erode at the Pokemon's stamina. Right now, Mateo and his Pokemon are no more than flies, preying on the two animals that fight over newfound territory. [break][break]

Once the WIDEGUARD comes down the Celesteela aims both arms straight toward the Rayquaza and the twin cylinder unleash a FLAMETHROWER big enough to ignite an entire block. Luckily, Mateo is out of the way but Rayquaza proves too large to evade, snaking around in the air as it moves to exit the flames and retaliate by calling upon the broken pieces of the pillar. From below, the broken, falling chunks of the tower start to separate, levitating upwards and looking to skewer Mateo and the Kartana on their ascent upwards to pelt the Celesteela with Rayquaza's ANCIENT POWER. The Druddigon makes quick work of any approaching boulders. It's IRON HEAD crushes the stone remnants of the tower with ease, turning brittle rocks into dust as the ANCIENT POWER converges onto the Celesteela. However, the amount of rocks being gathered is too much for a single Pokemon to cover for a team of three. Several shards of debris pelt Noivern, Flygon, and Altaria, scratching them with minor cuts while the bigger pieces leave bruises from the blunt trauma. The Kartana are no exception and a few of them are thrown off, knocked straight out of the skies inadvertently by the attack. [break][break]

The SONG OF DRAGONS lull the approaching Kartana into the sweet embrace of sleep. Like flies, they drop to their demise with only a few being able to sustain themselves as the SING is overshadowed by the BUG BUZZ and SUPERSONIC. While the BUG BUZZ doesn't seem to do enough damage to incapacitate them, their flight path starts to diverge in a CONFUSING PATTERN. Many of them crash into each other, flailing about as they slice each other to pieces, but an odd colored one makes it through by sheer luck, spinning in a barrel roll with a dangerously sharp X-SCISSOR. Bryony shields herself in a PROTECT and with the TAILWIND streaming behind her, they make their way up the tower with at an accelerated rate that makes up for lost time. Naturally, Mateo has a head start but with reckless abandon, Bryony starts to make her way up the crumbling pillar. The rocks beat against her PROTECT but it holds, shaking as cracks start to etch their way across the luminescent screen. Her Charizard smashes through anything in their way with ANCIENT POWER, beating any falling Kartana out of their path as the odd Ultra Beast sink around them. [break][break]

She can see the opening of the tower right above her, just in time for the Rayquaza's ANCIENT POWER to come together and entomb the invading Celesteela inside a giant ROCK TOMB. [break][break]




For a moment, the Celesteela seems to have been buried underneath, unmoving, unresponsive. But that moment is temporary, enough to cause the Rayquaza to relax as it charges another beam attack. Out of no where, the giant ROCK TOMB that encases the Pokemon juts into a singular spike, STONE EDGE the size of a small cliff vying for straight for Rayquaza and nailing it across it's expansive length. The dragon fall, gasping, screeching in pain before retaliating with a swipe of its massive DRAGON TAIL that's big enough to hit the Celesteela, Mateo and his Pokemon, and the Kartana (after they've executed their attack) in one fell swoop. The swish of its tail is so forceful that it creates a TWISTER as it passes, sucking in anything still in place and possibly sucking Bryony up and into the air. [break][break]

The SOUL DEW that Mateo has hums dully, a weak light emanating from it as it pulses periodically. [break][break]

The shiny Kartana cannot be dissuaded by simple evasive maneuvers. It keeps track of Mateo's Pokemon with ease and spins through one of them like a butcher's cleaver, clearing wing from body as the severed appendage plummets to the ground below. The sudden disservice to balance leaves the Altaria unable to maintain it's balance and it starts to fall as well, at least until Rayquaza's TWISTER swallows it whole and rattles it like the innards of a disastrous blender. [break][break]

mateo martinez and his other Pokemon managed to evade the DRAGON'S TAIL and avoid being swatted out of the sky in one fell swoop. However, the aftermath of the attack still sucks them in and they too are thrown about in a sudden shift of malicious turbulence. The TWISTER carries them up, up, and away, leaving them CONFUSED and disoriented as they are shot up along with the other helpless Kartana who lose the will to fight after being sucked in. [break][break]

The Celesteela is not as fortunate and its huge mass becomes a liability. The Ultra Beast is launched straight backwards and into the remnants of Sky Pillar from the impact of the attack. The tower shakes and @bryony will feel herself thrown off balance as the tower creaks under the pressure. From the dust and rubble, the Celesteela launches itself at incredible speeds at the Rayquaza, aiming to TAKE DOWN the brute by colliding with it. Unfortunately, the Rayquaza is ready and responds, snaking upwards in a COILING spiral before aiming a HYPER BEAM straight at the approaching Ultra Beast. [break][break]

Unfortunately, mateo martinez is directly in the crossfire. If his luck proves inadequate this might spell his end. Only the SOUL DEW erupting with raw energy seems to promise him any chance at survival. Whatever is going on seems to have disturbed the artifact, triggering it once more as it hums loudly. Mateo fumbles for his Pokeballs and between them he can only do so much. His first priority is the clipped Altaria and it finds a safe haven in being returned. It'll continue to bleed but the stasis like chamber of its Pokeball will slow the wound until proper care can be afforded. The lumbering Druddigon left upon the tower's split open perch also gets taken out of the equation and relief washes over it when the red beam of light strikes, reassuring the Pokemon that its trainer didn't forget it despite the pandemonium of their encounter. [BREAK][BREAK]

However, handling so many balls while being thrown around like a rag-doll requires precision and steadiness, something Mateo will have to sacrifice his speed for lest he accidentally drop one of his precious Pokeballs. His Flygon and Noivern still find their place as his aid and steed while they scramble to adjust to the current of TAILWIND. [break][break]

Caught between an Ultra Beast and a HYPER BEAM, Mateo can only stare off into the light of the dragon's attack before his life come to an insignificant end. Against any normal Pokemon, the beam would've been easy enough to dodge and only inflict a severe injury. But this was something more, rivaling the power of the Guzzlord from Mossdeep and equally greedy in finding a target as the great expanse of the energy starts to blind his vision. Mateo will be unable to recognize what happens as the world goes white. [break][break][break]

Gale winds lacerate his body in instantaneous whiplash. Something reaches out for him, namely his backpack, and whatever it is throws Mateo right off his Noivern's back. They need him and rip him away from the jaws of an untimely death. What they seek is the SOUL DEW and as long as it remains in his custody, his mysterious savior will always have as beacon to lead them back to their captor. [break][break]

His other two Pokemon are not a lucky. Like a bad dice roll, only Mateo gets pulled out of the line of fire. The other two Pokemon end up incinerated by the raw energy, swatted like flies against the approaching body of Celesteela. Tenacious, the Ultra Beast continues forward until it impacts against the HYPER BEAM, struggling to resist the attack until it falters and is thrown back into Sky Pillar. [break][break]

The building buckles underneath the weight of a catapulted Celesteela and the upper foundations start to crumble. Like the great tower of Babel, Sky Pillar is too ambitious with its height. Its architecture proves to be its biggest demise as great slabs of stone rain down onto those still scaling the tower. Delphi and Bryony find themselves buried with the culling of the great landmark and the fall will snap bones and flesh apart where the debris will not. [break][break]

Reeling from the blinding glare of the attack, Mateo will come to realize that he's mounted onto a Pokemon that has never been discovered. Very few will recognize the Eon guides of Hoenn, famed in ancient tomes as elusive dragons that have never been pictured by people. Legends will describe them in details as the fastest Pokemon to have roamed the skies, messengers of the EARTH and the SEA, bound by the stones that house the souls of their elders. [break][break]



Voices work in tandem to convey to Mateo what must be done. Latias barrel rolls across the field beside Mateo's mount, Latios, and proves to deft to come into contact with the lingering Kartana. Their numbers have dwindled and many of their husks rain down like ash in the aftermath of great destruction. Several still find the power to stay afloat while even more continue to prey on the Rayquaza like parasites, digging through its thick scales to find purchase in harming the great deity. It still remains oblivious, rearing its head back again to finish the Celesteela with another HYPER BEAM.

The SOUL DEW resonates with his wishes and it blinks again before Mateo is engulfed with its inner energies. As the herald of the DRAGON SOUL the Eon twins have no choice but to serve as his retainers. Their mutual goal becomes an unofficial pact and their number one priority changes to delivering him safely atop his throne: Rayquaza's crown. [BREAK][BREAK]

Raw hatred condenses within the Pokemon's open maw and Mateo can see the HYPER BEAM start to materialize. With a deft swiftness, Latios continues to scale along the serpentine's length, narrowly passing by the charging attack. Mateo can feel the heat beat down on him from their proximity, causing his skin to boil in a pool of sweat before he takes the leap of faith. [BREAK][BREAK]

Time slows when he takes the plunge and the longer he's in the air the more it looks like he won't make it. His horizontal movement is impeccable, launched forward with impressive momentum, but gravity starts to pull him down and it pulls all too quickly. It brings him closer to his demise, closer to Rayquaza's open mouth, closer to the same fate that had reduced his Pokemon to nothing more than roadkill. [BREAK][BREAK]

But his retainers will not allow him to fail so easily. The sound of something funneling through the air erupts from behind him and he can feel the Latias pick him up, spinning in an AERIAL ACE before tossing him onto the Rayquaza's head. He lands in a rolling tumble, trying to grasp his bearings as his footing finds no traction against the Pokemon's scales. He places a hand down to stop himself from bowling off the Rayquaza entirely and that's when their connection triggers. [BREAK][BREAK][break]

A connection with the Primal Legend does not come cheap. Mateo is enveloped by the Pokemon's domain when he dares to meld with the Rayquaza's consciousness. In the depth of their shared heart, Mateo will come face-to-face with the most domineering figure he's ever had to confront. There is no other trial by fire that could serve as a better baptism for the one looking to become DRAGON KING. [BREAK][break]

His welcoming is neither a palace nor a castle fit for a king but instead it is a void that represents his progress toward his journey. There is only one path: forward, devoid of life and muddled in absolute darkness. At the end of his path is a golden gate that alludes to the last barrier that keeps their essence separate. Adorn on the double doors is a lock in the shape of Latios and Latias intertwined in a circle, loosely kept in place and the only thing keeping the gate shut. [BREAK][break][break]

Tempest winds billow through the space between the gate's bars and they only pick up in the presence of the KING OF THE SKIES. Behind the security of the golden gate is a pair of red eyes that glare down at Mateo's puny existence, challenging him with a snarl before a hurricane buffets him with an intensity that threatens to expunge him from the very chamber of his own mind. His memory of his favorite children's story flashes across his mind before he can respond. The ending eludes him but he can recall fond instances of his grandfather reciting it to him before bed with excited giggles and a promise to do better. [BREAK][break]

Mateo's challenge is meaningless before a force of nature. Legends care little about the squabbles of men. Even his exacerbated shouting becomes a mere wisp when compared to the deafening vacuum of Rayquaza's mighty winds. It isn't until he resorts to dragon tongue that the constant air stream stops. In fact, everything stops, dead silence rippling from the echo of Mateo's insistent bellowing. The constant draft of the chamber reverses as the AIR LOCK starts to take effect, preventing the movement of oxygen to the point that Mateo starts to choke in a fit of asphyxiation. [BREAK][BREAK]

Mateo cannot die. Not in here where his image is just a projection of his subconsciousness. But the pain is real. He'll feel the constant torture of his lungs being squeezed dry from his exhale, unable to fill themselves due to the lack of oxygen, suffocating over and over again. At least until the Rayquaza tires of his inaudible screaming. In a show of power, the dragon coils behind the gate, sneering as its emerald scales glisten against the surface of the gate's golden surface. [BREAK][BREAK]

The warning comes from behind him. From seemingly nowhere, Mateo is no longer alone, kept in company with a manifestation of the Draconid people. It's a young girl around his age, covered in dirt and torn rags. Her clothing looks barbaric in comparison, tattered Pokemon leather wrapped around her feet instead of shoes, with several carved bones serving as jewelry. She glares at him in defiance as her body starts to fade out of existence. [BREAK][BREAK]

She reaches out for the gate, running her fingers across the symbol of Latias and Latios, struggling to hold on as her body vanishes right in front of him. When she's finally gone, the gust returns, blowing Mateo out of the chamber and back onto the roof of Sky Pillar. But it hasn't been destroyed. From it's undamaged peak, he can view all of Hoenn, surrounded by the Draconid clansmen as they watch a scene unfold out on the horizon. [BREAK][BREAK]

Prehistoric Hoenn is unrecognizable. Sootopolis has yet to be formed, the ocean between Mossdeep and Lilycove doesn't exist, bridging the two cities together into one huge landmass, while the majority of the region's ocean lies around the belt of Pacifilog town. Despite this look into the history of Hoenn's geography, it all changes right before his eyes as the two behemoths fight. [BREAK][BREAK]

In the east, the sea level rises, swallowing most of eastern Hoenn. [BREAK][BREAK]

In the west, Mount Chimney erupts, spewing out lava that will undoubtedly raise the land. [BREAK][BREAK]

The Draconid people, as primitive as they are, continue their pilgrimage at the summit of Sky Pillar. They pray in earnest, beseeching the SKY GUARDIAN to come down to reason with the titans, to stop the conflict and bring peace to the region. But this time, no one will come to help them. Instead, Mateo finds his Pokeballs around his belt, allowing him to act on Rayquaza's behalf. [BREAK][break]

Closer to the battle itself, the same woman from earlier is flying toward the action on her Mega Salamence. [BREAK][break]
