Another meeting in Rustboro City had reached its conclusion. But rather than fly home on the back of Kalameet, or Teleport back with Freke, Thomas would instead opt to walk home. This would involve a trek down Route 116, followed by cutting through the Rusturf Tunnel. After sitting down in a boardroom, and listening to all the business talk, a good walk was what the Gym Leader needed, frankly.

Having dressed down to a green shirt, blue jeans, and brown boots, Thomas was almost unrecognizable from how he presented himself during the meeting. But then, it was better this way, as he didn't want to mess up any of his good clothes, even if he could afford to replace them. Besides, the trainer was anticipating resistance on the way back to Verdanturf, was even hoping to encounter certain Wild Pokemon along the way, one to bring back home to his girlfriend.

As Thomas was walking through the area, he would spot a Spoink bouncing through the area. Upon seeing the human, the Spoink immediately picked up the pace, attempting to get away from the human. Thomas, for his part, allowed the creature to move away, still moving in the direction the Rusturf Tunnel. If the swine didn't want to get into a fight, that was fine with him. After all, he had better things to do today.

As Thomas continued walking, he would spot an all too familiar tail popping out of the grass. The pink, pin cushion-like end of the tail belonged to a Skitty, who seemed to be playing around in the grass. As Thomas saw its head pop out of the tall grass, he couldn't help but smile at the pink creature. Thomas would slowly pull out a treat from his bag, offering it to the Skitty.

With a mewl, the pink feline took a sniff at the treat, before gobbling it up greedily. The Skitty gave him a thankful mewl, but rather than run away, the Skitty sat there, "staring" at the trainer. Thomas smiled, and offered the Skitty another treat, which it happily took, this time without hesitation. Thomas would then offer the Skitty one last treat. Thomas would allow the Skitty to take a moment to enjoy the treat, before he would tap the creature with a Pokeball. The Skitty, despite being able to detect it, seemed to allow himself to be captured by the human.

Perhaps it was the prospect of having a steady supply of treats?
