they were in the thick of autumn and with it came the chills and frost of an early winter. this change in season brought on the annual migration of various species of pokemon - one of which had been prominently displayed on email olivia had received from the safari zone. a mudkip, native to the region and the traditional water type starter given out to up and coming trainers. so it was about time olivia got herself one.

having paid the small fee to enter the exotic area, olivia began her hunt. meara and calypso followed along and had orders to keep quiet if wild pokemon approached. they were undoubtedly loyal but right now she didn't need them scaring off her prize.

her hunt did not take long. traversing the well trodden path of mud into the wetlands of the safari zone, olivia and her companions quickly came upon a lone mudkip splashing about the swamp. she held a hand out to stop her own water types as she entered the clearing. "greetings, child of the earth shaker." she cooed with a warm smile an outstretched hand. the mudkip's fin vibrated a bit at her words before it cautiously approached. he gave olivia's hand a healthy sniffffff.

it then pressed its wet cheeks against her supple finger tips. as was the way of the abbiati, water types felt comfortable with her. she quietly produced a safari ball and gently bopped the pokemon on the head and murmured, "there there."

olivia pocketed the pokeball and whistled, presuming her pokemon would follow. instead there was a loud crash as a scraggy was blasted into a nearby tree by a ferocious hydro pump. she turned on her heel to witness calypso fall from the heavens to smack the yellow beastling with her water infused tail. olivia winced, knowing that had to hurt. in a blue blur, her vapreon had pinned the dazed pokemon - a scraggy, if olivia were to guess - to the ground.

meara bared her teeth and growled, before turning to olivia who had her arms crossed over her chest. "tsk, tsk, what is all this about?" she questioned, looking first at the puppy eyed vaporeon who had since moved from standing over the injured scraggy. calypso, meanwhile, suddenly found the sky very intriguing and refused to make eye contact. with a sigh, she tossed one of her safari balls at the knocked out scraggy. "at least we can get it some medical care since the two of you!" she said, narrowing her eyes at both of her pokemon before adding, "decided to take matters in your own hands. or paws."

as olivia bent down to pick up the captured scraggy, meara yelped. she turned her head to catch the tail end of the attack: a nasty bomb of purple sludge being launched from a living pile of trash at her azumarill. "attack." she ordered immediately, while calypso enwrapped herself in a healing aqua ring. meara shot forward with a quick attack and a hydro pump at the assualtant.

the powerful water attack launched the trubbish skyward and olivia waited a couple of seconds until it crashed back to the surface. she tossed a pokeball at it, noting, "perhaps we can learn of the pollution problem plaguing hoenn by studying this... filth."
