|[attr="class","anyapost"]she is surrounded by the familiar buzz of machines. this is how she nurses her headache. (well, that, and a small cup of tea.) |
cages rattle. #r02001 gnaws at its prison bars and anya peers down at it, observing. the luxray at her side hisses at the rat, eyes flashing as it intimidates. the rat cowers back and anya unlatches its cage with gloved hands. it scurries forward despite its warning and the luxray blasts the metal bars with a thunderbolt.
the raticate convulses and collapses. anya sighs. but the crouches down and inserts the needle, eyeing the time as she takes a few vials of blood from the creature. when she's finished, she slaps labels on them and seals them before collecting samples from her more docile subjects.
the turtonator is bound most heavily and as such, the extraction proves least difficult.
with her materials organized, she skirts back to her desk and flicks on the switch to her imaging microscope. the samples are all placed in separate compartments; once uploaded, she looks up at the screen, adjusting parameters so that she can watch the blood cells move about across the glass.
"don't toy with the thing. go off with the others," she says, though her back is turned to the cages. her luxray drops his paw and chuffs before padding away obediently.
anya gingerly removes the capsule that had mysteriously ended up in her bag of goodies several weeks ago. the liquid inside is milky white. the first round of examinations have proven to her that it's a concoction of some sort. created by whom, by what, she does not know.
all she knows is that fate has handed her a new toy and her curiosity has gotten the best of her.
she uses a fine needle to measure small, equal volumes of the liquid. and then she places them on the microscope slides, injecting the liquid into the blood cells.
she has a quarter of the original container left.
she looks up at the screen for a reaction.
