Not long after Sidonie's introduction would a third appear to guard the tree. Flanked by his Zwelious Puffnstuff and his Salazzle Sama, Oscar would wince upon seeing the other two guards. "Did these geezers seriously hire three guards for one tree? Geez what a nuisance." 

Oscar was starting to regret taking this job. The idea of sharing the night with three strangers was unappealing. He had a hard enough time getting along with others without being stuck with them the entire night. Guarding a tree. Whatever, maybe if he's nice they can just chat the night away. Better than waiting for nothing because what sane being would want to attack a random tree?

As Oscar approached the duo he put on his best big boy smile. "Sup partners, name's Oscar. I'm here for easy money how about you?" He looked up at the tree and did his best not to seem underwhelmed as he thought up an ice breaker. "This sure is a tree." Fuck socializing was hard, why couldn't he be alone for this?

"Right, right." A sound attempt to cease social interaction for now. Oscar was just as eager to keep to his own business tonight. In this spirit he snapped his fingers toward Puff N' Stuff, who immediately went off to circle the tree. More accurately, they waddled five feet away and bickered with each other on which direction to go. Oscar rubbed his temples. Yeah, this was gonna be quite the party.

Silence bred discomfort, and despite his desire to keep to himself Oscar began to feel awkward. Or nervous? It was hard to tell. Kosuke broke the silence with a conversation topic, unfortunately Oscar didn't have much to give as a response. "I uh, nah I was just hired for tonight." Oscar kept his mouth open, as if thinking of more to add. When nothing came he sighed and pulled out a cigarette case. He popped it open and retrieved one of the lollipops he stored inside. He pointed the case to Kosuke, offering one out of politeness. Secretly he hoped he would refuse, Oscar was quite attached to his suckers.

Puff eventually won his argument with Stuff, forcing them to go left. They didn't get far before something seemed amiss. A mist had been slowly inching toward the tree, so quickly that it couldn't have been noticed until now. Oscar put his case back into his pocket after Kosuke made his decision, and as he looked up he tried to pretend the sudden cloud was normal. 

"So um, anyone know any games? I could really use--something to uh--alright I can't ignore it something's fucked." Sama noticed her master's change in demeanor and readied herself. Oscar shifted the sucker in his mouth. Was something coming? Who would go through the effort to create such a fog to attack a tree? Oscar tilted his head, trying to listen for signs of trespassers. He just heard silence, and he couldn't tell if that was comforting or not.

As Kosuke went around the tree, Oscar sighed deeply. Despite how boring it would have been, he was really hoping this job wouldn't involve too much effort. He and Sama followed, with Puff n' Stuff bickering on whether or not they should follow as well. What Kosuke found was basically Oscar's worst case scenario.

Fucking. Ghost types. Oscar had nothing in particular against them (beyond them being absolutely terrifying nine times out of ten), but fuck if he has yet to meet a ghost type that hasn't ruined his night. Oscar brought another pokeball and opened it, revealing his Empoleon Wrath. "Don't you guys let them have all the fun now! Don't be afraid to be aggressive, they're already dead!" Sama and Wrath charged forward, meeting the rush of ghost types directly. Sama whipped away a Shuppet with Fire Lash, while Wrath swatted at multiple gastlys with his Metal Claws. 

Meanwhile, Puff n' Stuff had their own problems. Their argument was interrupted by another wave of ghosts, only coming from the opposite side of the tree. As they noticed the charging spirits, they looked to each other and nodded in agreement. The two headed menace charged into battle, Crunching anything that got too close. Oscar heard the commotion and yelped. "Shit they're flanking us! I'll take that side you and your pokemon defend this one. Let's go you two hustle!" 

Sama and Wrath wrapped up their current engagements before following Oscar to the other side of the tree. A haunter has bypassed Puff n' Stuff and was inches away from ripping at the tree's bark when Wrath dove in swat it away. He then rushed to aid Puff n' Stuff, while Sama stood by Oscar to fight off anyone else who was able to break through.

The general strategy of attacking wildly was working well for Oscar's team. Sama kept back any ghosts that got through with Flamethrower, while Wrath and Puff 'n Stuff did their best to physically tear up the spirits wave by wave. Unfortunately for them, they were becoming more numerous by the minute and eventually they brought in a specialist to break Oscar's defense. A Dusknoir bust out of the mist, punching Wrath straight in the gut sending him flying. The mighty spirit turned its attention to the tree immediately after, beginning another charge.

Puff 'n Stuff were ready, scrambling to intercept the Dusknoir and jumping up to catch its fists in their mouthes. The Duslnoir pressed, with all its strength, slowly pushing the struggling dragons back. Oscar actually got worried for a moment, "Guys it's cool just let him through, we'll handle it." They refused, Crunching down harder. This angered the ghost and it dug deep to push their necks back as far as it could. Any more pressure would cause them to snap. Oscar took out his pokeball to withdraw his goons, but fate had other plans.

The dragon began to glow, rising slightly into the air. Oscar's eyes widened, "Oh no--no no no stop!" It was too late. The light faded, and suddenly it was the Dusknoir being pushed back. Its stoic demeanor faltered, as it was no face to face with a very angry Hydreigon. Oscar groaned, "God damn it, I don't know how to raise a fucking Hydreigon!"

The newly born Puffnstuff reared its head back, and gave the Dusknoir a taste of some point blank Dragon Pulse. The spirit dissolved under the preassure, and Puffnstuff took the chance to dive directly into the mist, thrashing madly at the remaining ghosts with Outrage. Before long their nimbers would dwindle to none, and the mist would  slowly begin to fade. Hearing Kosuke's question, Oscar sighed. "Yeah. It was a close call but we're good." Oscar watched Puffinstuff thrash at the air for a bit before opening his pokeball to withdraw him. This shall have to be handled later. As he walked over to help Wrath to his feet, Oscar yelled to Kosuke. "You think it's over or are they faking us out?"

Kosuke was right, the job was done so it wasn't any of Oscar's business. He returned Wrath to his ball and sighed. What a night, he never thought he would be disappointed to not stand near a tree doing nothing. He was going to have nightmares from this for sure.

Especially since now he had a damn Hydreigon. That fact alone weighed on Oscar heavily, he was an alright trainer but not good enough to tame "The Brutal Pokemon". He looked to Kosuke as he mounted his own Hydreigon. Oscar was surprised, he didn't even flinch as he got on. Oscar would have shit himself if he was told he had to ride one of those. How did he tame it? Oscar somewhat wanted to ask but before he could Kosuke took off. That's what he got for being slow.

Oscar looked to Sama, who seemed mostly indifferent about the events of the night. That's what he liked most about her, nothing was too weird for this salazzle. Oscar stretched and scratched her chin, "Let's go. I'm craving waffles."
