"You want to have new family?...Today?" Kaida glanced down into eyes that stared straight into her soul, feeling none of the terror most Pokemon would feel just looking at the large Ekans. In fact, she looked almost exasperated, as if the snake was a begging child. A day of rest and this little "brother" of hers was far too interested in new Pokemon.

She shifted her weight on the rubble she sat upon, cushioning her face into her hands. "Don't look at me sad...find one you like...not prey. Not today." As the words left her lips, the Ekans disappeared under a spot of debris, hissing to scare out the usual pests in search of a monster to recruit onto the family.

She didn't even pay attention to see if anyone was nearby.

"Emmol!"

The Emolga on the blonde boy's shoulder hissed, glaring at the Ekans that had suddenly appeared on the ground below. The blonde, on the other hand, recoiled when he'd seen the snake and nearly fallen on his butt for doing so. "W-Wah! It's one of the poisonous ones, right Toskr?!" He exclaimed, making sure to stay at least five steps away from the slithering mass of purple.

He'd come out here in search of pokémon. Maybe another Electric-type or two. But snakes?! He didn't how to deal with 'em except run! Just like mom had always told him!

"Yes. He is poisonous." Kaida called from her perch, as Ormr coiled about himself and glared at the fearful human, "Don't stare at him, be too loud...it's a joke. He won't harm you if you don't harm him." She chuckled, still warning the boy firmly. "And don't scream, you'll scare all the Pokemon out."

As if on cue, a mass of purple emerged from a pile of rubble, likely connected to sewers, she realized, a bubbling roar escaping it. "Hmm, this ones really dangerous." Kaida's voice dropped, and she moved to stand, "Don't let it get away. It might poison someone or thing." She directed to the boy, her Ranger duties leading her to not let such a dangerous Pokemon stand. Even other poison-types fled, like a Weedle that desperately climbed rubble up and away.

"Freeze." Ormr's eyes flashed an eerie gold, and the Muk growled, liquid arms trembling as it raised them furiously and found it could no longer move due to paralysis. "Get it." She ordered, as if the boy was another of her Pokemon.

capture attempt!

THEME

a sudden encounter!
"R-Right!" Sigmund nodded, reaching towards his belt for an empty pokéball while simultaneously issuing a command to his partner. "Toskr, weaken it with an Electro Ball!" It looked as though it were trying to will itself back in movement, after all. Now could be their only chance! Thankfully, though still suspicious of the Ekans, his Emolga leapt off of his shoulder and issued a front-flip, gathering a ball of electric energy at the tip of its tail before flinging it towards the mass of putrid acid.

When the electric ball struck, bursting into thousands of tiny sparks and causing the strange beast to groan, Sigmund aimed his ball right where he thought its head was... then threw it. He took a brief moment to notice the Weedle disappearing into the leaves of a tree nearby, but was fixed on the pokéball after it had absorbed the Muk in a flash of red light and fallen to the ground below.

Kaida gave a nod of acknowledgment in regards to the capture, but didn't even have time to say a "good job" before two cries rang out. It seemed the commotion was attracting the Pokemon who were lying in wait, or simply disturbed. "Hah, this was supposed to be a day to rest..." Kaida sighed, "Sorry, I need help for this. They can't run wild, or more damage might be done."

Ormr stared as a Crogunk let out a devilish laugh and sprung closer, and looked back at Kaida. Catch it?

"Fine. I'll deal with the Crogunk." She explained, then to Ormr, "Bute hard. I'll catch when ready." Immediately, Ormr sprung forward, weaving around a Poison Jab before rising up, and spitting a Mud Bomb into its flank, eyes glowing to freeze it in place with a Glare afterwards.

The Pokeball throw was simple enough, spiralling towards the shoulder of the paralysed Crogunk.

capture attempt on ivysaur!

THEME

a sudden encounter!
As the young woman dealt with her own troubles, an irate Ivysaur came waddling out from the bushes as it swung its vines around menacingly. Not one to take such threats lightly, Ratatoskr scampered up a nearby tree before hissing at it. Before the Emolga leapt off and glided towards the toad, it managed to whip Sigmund's butt a few times.

"Yowch!" He yelped, happy when Ratatoskr interrupted the beating with a super-effective Acrobatics attack. Knocked back onto its bulb and having trouble getting back up after such a blow, the Ivysaur was helpless against the ball Sigmund unclipped from his belt and threw at it. He didn't quite care for the toad, but it was a cool pokémon nonetheless!

Behind Kaida, she heard something large thundering up her perch on the rubble and flung herself off in the nick of time. The Krookodile hissed and snapped furiously, Crunching through the concrete like it was nothing. Focused on the human, an incoming Acid Spray collided full on with its flank, driving a roar right before Ormr Bit into the weakened flesh.

A howl of anguish exploded from the sand crocodile, who thrashed about in pained fury. Ormr hung on determinedly, one eye locked on Kaida, asking her to make a decision.

Kaida palmed a Pokeball, already making a decision. So far from its home, in an environment it couldn't belong. It even had scars about its back and scales...this Krookodile must had escaped from either a trainer or, more likely, a type of black market. No wonder it attacked when disturbed, humans were not its favorite being. It was only kind, she decided, as she flung a Pokeball at its back.

capture attempt on houndour!

THEME

a sudden encounter!
After Sigmund picked up the ball with the Ivysaur captured in it, he rubbed his wounded butt and turned as the Krookodile growled in agony. It was a cool pokemon, of course. But to see it like that, all angry and hurt, was something else...

Not long after the young woman had made her capture attempt, however, did Sigmund catch something out of the corner of his eye: a Houndour stalking him from the bushes nearby. Almost instantly, he flinched and backed away, prompting the fire dog to leap with flames leaking out of its snarling mouth. Ratatoskr, who was nothing if not protective over its trainer, was quick to react with a Pursuit. But the attack didn't do much damage and the Houndour retaliated with a Fire Fang that sent the poor little Emolga flying towards a nearby tree afterwards.

When Sigmund realized his darling partner had been left with a burn, he was quick to draw another pokeball from his belt and summon his Quagsire. "Burrito, let's go! Toskr, buddy, it's time for a break!" He added, recalling the flying squirrel into its pokeball despite its protests.



"Quaaaaag."


The Houndour was quick to jump without mercy, attempting to knock out its new contender with a Feint Attack. Unfortunately for it, the Quagsire had too much bulk for the attack to be incredibly effective, and the Houndour was sent skidding backwards after it had bounced off of its bulk. "Now, Muddy Water!" Sigmund commanded, watching as the amphibian gathered a mouthful of water so great that it inflated its cheeks as far as they would go before it released a torrent of brown water. The attack struck, the Houndour was rendered unconscious, and Sigmund followed up with a fresh new pokeball afterwards.

Ormr was getting tired, that much was obvious, even as he crashed into his next opponent, it was obvious. "Finish quickly, Ormr...then rest, someone else will protect us." Despite receiving no answer, she knew the serpent heard, as he drew back and let loose a truly massive Acid Spray.

The final straw was placed, and the cactus Pokemon suddenly turned and fled, intent on finding easier prey. As soon as it was clearly not coming back, she returned Ormr, preparing for the next wave of disturbed Pokemon. They seemed to be slowing...

Unfortunately, the Houndour seemed to have unlikely friends... and one of these friends managed to surprise Burrito the Quagsire with a sudden Giga Drain. "Burrito, noooo!" Sigmund cried out as he clipped the Houndour capture to his belt and watched his partner fall unconscious on the ground. "Sorry buddy!" He lamented, pulling out Burrito's dive ball before recalling him in a flash of blue light. In the meantime, the culprit behind the Giga Drain would emerge from a nearby bush: a drooling and vindictive Gloom!

Sigmund was quick to draw out another pokéball, seamlessly summoning the little Cyndaquil inside of it. "Laiger, let's go! Hit it with a Flame Wheel!" He commanded, watching as his precious little rodent ignited the flames on its back before rolling forward in a blaze. With little time to react, the Gloom was struck by the fiery wheel Laiger had turned into and was promptly hit by a thrown pokéball afterwards looking to capture it.
