All it took was a single glance through the underbrush to finally find something else. Or rather, hear another Pokemon. A Chansey seemed to be having a grand old time singing to itself. However, as soon as she felt a bit of drowsiness threaten to overtake her Ruby quickly shook her head and held onto Darling's hand to force the two of them to keep each other awake. They certainly didn't mean it on purpose, but their song was simply so soothing it could coax them to sleep even if they didn't want to. And then they'd be wasting time! The warden was going to blow his whistle to call her back any second!

Quickly pulled away from that direction, Ruby kept low as to try not to spook any Pokemon with good hearing. Surely they'd hear her coming first anyways, but at the very least she could keep the noise to a minimum.

Another Budew. Ruby let out a long sigh, quickly turning away from the grass pokemon before it's blooming toxins could affect her in any way. Just where were the Meowstics? Everyone she had talked to said they had seen one, but she hadn't yet to even see a single one. Starting to feel a bit down on her luck, she pressed on regardless. Hopefully, her perseverance would eventually pay off. After all, she had two Meowstics she needed to find, so she might be here for quite a while. Or rather, as long as the warden let her stay. She continued to explore, slowly climbing over a fallen log and getting on her way.

Ruby's search for the elusive Meowstics seemed to be interrupted yet again. Not by finding a pokemon, however, but by a Pokemon finding her. An apple quite literally fell out of the tree and right on her head. Yelping out in surprise, Ruby jumped back and patted her head as she quickly looked around for just what had struck her. It was only a few seconds before she saw the Applin on the ground, slowly attempting to roll back upright and move away. Despite her first instinct telling her to just ignore it and run away, this was the first time she had seen one of these apple pokemon here in Hoenn. Did the embargo ending release a total tidal wave of Galar pokemon so fast?

Unable to resist herself, she quickly attempted to capture the cutie for the trouble it caused. Surely it wanted to be captured if it went through such great lengths to fall on her, right? Not wanting to slow down her search, Ruby immediately pressed on.

An Eevee suddenly bounded out of the bushes. He was playing with a little acorn, batting it back and forth right in front of Ruby, almost as if they didn't even notice her presence. Unable to help but smile softly at the sight, and knowing just how rare Eevee's truly were, Ruby couldn't resist the temptation. Try as she might, she couldn't convince herself not to suddenly use a Safari ball on the Eevee. Despite catching the adorable guy, she simply wasn't quite satisfied. The Meowstics still eluded her completely, and yet another text from Alexei Ivanov seemed to reveal that he was finding nothing but Meowstics!

Ruby huffed softly in frustration, allowing herself to be hugged reassuringly by Darling and to calm down for a few seconds before continuing on her way.

This was frankly getting ridiculous. The first Snom, she figured was pretty cute. She'd give him a nice home and give them lots of love. A second icicle in the middle of spring, however, was just dumb at this point. The endearing quality of the first one certainly didn't hold true for the second, likely on the account of Ruby's growing frustration. Sighing and shaking her head, she just continued on her way.

Ruby had to blink and rub her eyes at the very sight of the Meowstic before her. It was truly there, not just some figment of her imagination. Almost immediately she smiled incredibly widely, being super careful not to scare them off as she approached. The female Meowstic seemed to just gently examining their paws, leaning against a tree. Even Darling seemed to remain perfectly still as to perhaps not scare off a new friend. However, with a crack of a stick beneath her feet, Ruby immediately and visibly winced, only to notice the Meowstic didn't even seem to care for her presence. Letting out a breath she didn't know she was holding, she slowly moved over towards the Meowstic with a soft expression on her face.

"Hey there gal... Do you think we can be friends?" The Meowstic huffed in response, turning their head away. Ruby didn't know what to say, staring down at them for a few seconds. After a moment of silence, the feline pokemon glanced back at her as if to say to get it over with. Unsure how to respond, just simply happy, Ruby quickly reached out with a Safari ball and captured the proud cat.

Ruby immediately squealed in delight, holding the Pokeball close to her chest as a wide smile spread across her face. "... I need to find them a partner!" And with that, Ruby immediately set off continuing her search.
