Nothing like hitting restart after the title screen on your life flashed game over. All the time and effort in the world couldn't do shit if you're back behind the gate running the race again.

Square one was route 115, sparse treeline, heavy sun, and the same high-as-fuck ledges that only worked if you were going in the opposite direction. With any luck, he'd meet the same pokemon he'd met nearly two decades ago.

Usually, one would be having 'stirrings' of deja vu, or be thick into the throes of heady boyish recollection; Dmitri was bitter, an acrid taste built up at the back of his mouth which was clenched in consternation around an unlit smoke. His first finds were wholly unimpressive, and he could only grip the pokeballs at his belt when something round and rosy bounced out from the grasses. "Charizard."

The fire lizard appeared in a trademark cast of red and sent a faint flamethrower after the clefairy with a couple of well aimed embers. What else. He thought while casually extending the barrel of his smoke to catch a few cinders from his pokemon's tail.
