Alec was rather glad that there wasn't a Sandstorm. He had a feel that if there was one, it would chip away at his health bar gradually. He was out patrolling the sands for one thing, and one thing only. Training. He had not encountered anyone so far, however he had decided to send out a message on the game's chat channel so see if someone would like to kill some spawns in the desert with him if they were close by. [break][break]

He had found an Oasis, which was more than likely the only one in this Wasteland. He had mentioned that he would be there, waiting for whoever to show up. Hopefully they didn't take him for some rookie though. Alec had sat there, dipping his clawed like feet in the oasis, seeing that there was nothing dangerous in the very small body of water. As his clawed-like feet sat in the water, his tail was unwrapped from his waist, sticking out from the bottom if his cape, slightly swaying back and forth.

kyle spots the player who has sent a message on broadcast about grinding. waiting for his other friends to come online, kyle accepts the offer and quickly traverses through the desert and to the rendezvous point.

he spots someone familiar, except with demon horns and tail and the entire aesthetic. it brings a smile on his face as he approaches him, though he does not reveal himself just yet. with his arm raised as he walks, he waves a greeting at alec.

"hello, hello. i'm a-"

kyle temporarily stops on his tracks, opening his inventory, switching his equipment to a lower rarity set, and then closes it. he lifts his head back, turning to alec while feigning ignorance on the earlier act.

"i'm a low level ranger. please carry. thank you."

farming mobs was so mindlessly boring.

although katherine did intend to score the achievement for killing one mob of each type-- it felt more like a chore with each type she'd gone through. luckily for the mage, a message popped up in the region chat from another mage who sought partners to farm with. lucky her. as long as his kills will count towards her achievement, this would make it go much faster. she made her way over to where he said to meet him.

and it seems like she wasn't the only player who considered to take him up on the offer. the pink-haired mage paid a glance at the ranger, and then she looked towards alec once more, "hi. i saw your message. i'm missing a couple of types before i get some achievement," kat explained, wondering how many potential mobs she'd have to farm here with them.

Alec had raised an eyebrow in confusion when the man had changed all of high level gear out in front of him. Alec had then spoke up. "Will do. but ... why did you change your gear out? You had some pretty good stuff but you changed it for lower level gear. Why?" Alec had asked, having a serious tone in his voice, already stating to the male Ranger that he was aware of what he did. whether he decided to tell the Demon Mage the truth, Alec had decided to let that be up to him. It was then that a female mage with pink hair. "I'm missing a couple of types as well. I had no luck in the other Kingdoms so, I decided to come here since I've never been the desert yet." Alec had explained to them both. "What I am mainly interested in finding is either Lucky Spawns or Mini-Bosses. Heard that there were some running around here in the desert, so I came running. Figured seeing if there might be someone who'd be willing to help me search and take them down. We will also be dividing the item drops as we go. Hopefully, the spawns here will be a challenge," Alec had said, hoping that the two of em wouldn't be deterred from the plan. The Female mage had seemed to be straightforward, which Alec liked. As for the male Ranger, he truly did wonder if he was actually a rookie. Also, what kind of name was aaaaaaa? [break][break]

Just as ALec was about to tell them they were setting out, two Dugtrio had spawned right in front of them. One had dug itself underground, rushing towards Alec and had said to the other two, "You two can handle the other one. This one's mine," Alec had said, and just as it had reappeared from underground, it had hit Alec, however the demon mage had already set up a counter, releasing his Shell Trap spell, killing the Dugtrio rather quickly with that one move. Alec had took a look at his health bar, showing a sense of displeasure at the fact, that the Dugtrio's attack had not done hardly any damage. Alec had kinda hoped it was a lucky spawn, but that was wishful thinking.[break][break]

he looks at alec blankly as he tries to form an excuse in his head. finally, he blurts out a game mechanic that most people don't usually experience. "you, uh, get penalties if you don't reach the level requirement of the equipment."

alec takes care of a dugtrio, leaving two of them to work against the other one. he can probably one-shot it with a skill, but he figures he has to play the role of a newbie just to fuck with the gym leader before he realizes that it's him.

he points his bow at the dugtrio and charges an arrow at its face.

"okay, we're killing."

he lets go of the basic attack. it hits the dugtrio and takes out a good chunk of its health.

katherine repeated after alec, praying in her heart for such an outcome. much like the other mage, she'd been hunting for rare mobs for a long time now. her entire weekend, to be precise. the loot they were advertised to drop seemed like it's worth the time sink required. or at least kat preferred to imagine so. if this was going to be a waste of her time, the mage would rather stay convinced that it wasn't. "have you tried spectra kingdom yet?" she questioned, gaze lingering upon alec still. "most mages avoid that place but... i liked it. they're tougher mobs."

ah. it seemed like they were all on the same board. rare loot. well, rare spawns and their loot. the name of the ranger did raise questions in katherine's mind-- but she chose to not pay it too much attention. if only because way too many people played on this server. finding her own user name wasn't all too easy either as most of the possible combinations were already taken. and before kat allows herself to sink further in this ocean of meaningless thoughts, a pair of fresh spawns appear. the leader of the party orders her to pair with the range, and reluctantly, the mage does so.

the arrow hits the ground-type mob directly, stealing some of its hp. and just as it begins to rush towards kyle, katherine charges a small amount of ice magic in the palm of her hand, releasing a frail beam of ice that freezes the dugtrio solid. the game announces her attack to be super effective, and a yawn parts through her lips.

"not bad for someone who's new. you did more damage than i expected." kat was either lying or just smug enough to throw false compliments at him.

Alec just stared at the Ranger with a deadpan face and said, "No offense, but you are a terrible liar." Alec had said, being absolutely blunt with him, having seen his display of prowess against the Dugtrio he was fighting. "Also, I have been to Spectra before, but I haven't fought any spawns there yet. I did have a Battle royale there though against three other players. It was pretty intense. I didn't win, but I did manage to get a kill," Alec had said with a devilish grin. "I should go back some time and do some more hunting in the Glumwood. Heard there's some rare game there that seems pretty enticing," Alec had said. They continued to traverse the desert sands, and had come across another two regular spawns that had attacked them. "uuuugh. These normal spawns are boring. Too predictable in my opinion," Alec had said, deciding to end this a lot quicker than he had planned, going after one of the Sandshrews. Before it could dig itself underground, Alec had quickly took care of it, smashing directly into it with a Zen Headbutt, sending it flying, then quickly faded away into nothing. The other two had probably been attacking the other one.[break][break]

kyle clutches his chest, appearing hurt by his statement. "fuck! i was trying really hard too!" he raises a brow and asks alec a question. "so, what gave it away?"

playing with alec may be better than what he expected if he took things seriously. he changes his play to suit his new position, although he newbie equipment stays on his avatar.

kyle attacks the sandshrew before the other mage can, hitting it with an air slash. its health drops immediately before it can fire an even approach them. he turns to katherin, returning her jab with what seems to be a genuine inquiry.

this was going way better than katherine had expected. she was in a party with not one, but two guys who were willing to do the heavy lifting and farm the experience for her. if it was going to stay this way, she might just end up adding them to her friendlist, who knows. "it's worth the time, i bet. most features in this game are," she comments about the game mentioned by the other mage, her own interest piqued some.

as alec and kyle battle the sandshrews, kat remains still to watch them with her wand twirled between her digits. "better?" she repeats, eyes blinking a couple of times before flickering to where the sandshrew stood moments ago. "i suppose you did do better. for a ranger at least." the wand is lifted to point at the ranger's arms, and katherine's gaze lingers upon them too. "but i am not a fan of that move. it's... well, cheesy. most rangers opt to use it because they lack skill."

"You changed you're gear right in front of me. Anyone with a brain would question that," Alec had said to the male Ranger, shaking his head at him. Was this guy born dumb, or did someone drop him when he was little? These questions would make the Demon Mage wonder if either was a possibility. Just as the female mage had finished speaking, Alec snickered at what she had said to the Ranger out loud, not really caring if he was heard or not. "I like her. I'm going to send you a friend request," Alec had said, pulling up the menu and sending the request to her as soon as he had saw her name. That was when he had realized who she was. "I've seen you're name before. Just can't remember from where to be honest. Not that, that matters anyways," The demon had said to her, talking about her IGN. [break][break]

However, before he could say anything else, a long black arm had suddenly lashed out from the sand in between them. Alec, quick on his feet, had dodged the swiping shadow claw that was most certainly going to swipe all three of them. Hopefully, the other two were quick to dodge it as well. The sudden spawn seemed to be different than the others which made Alec grin widely. [break][break]

"So, we got a Lucky Spawn, eh? Well, let it's take it out together this time!" Alec had said, clapping his hands together, conjuring a fire in the palms of both hands. He then quickly slammed both of them into the sands, sending the fire underneath, for it to Erupt Right from under the Cofagrigus.[break][break]

kyle's lips curve upward with her haughtiness, amusing him more than getting insulted, if that was the intent of the mage.

"ooh, got a fight with another ranger? being salty about it isn't healthy, y'know?"

and then comes alec, who somehow doesn't have a sense of humor to detect his jokes. perhaps he was too subtle about it, or that he was just being too serious. he seemed too earnest and genuine when he first met him though, so he wouldn't be surprised if that was the case.

"come on, alec! can't you detect irony? i set the joke up nicely for you, baby gl."

he starts to wonder if fernando was right about the community.

kyle feigns crying when the cofagrigus appears. alec already starts to attack when kyle quickly recovers from his act and fires a phantom force at it cause it's super effective damage.

katherine scoffs as her eyes roll. "please, as if. give me a break. he had a cheap build and still lost," paralysis, confusion and flinching. three CC effects stacked together in one kit. rangers were dumb. the game was unbalanced, sure, but she certainly saw some flaws in the way the developers allowed certain things to happen. but then again, it didn't actually matter - did it? all it taught kat is how to deal with those pesky players who take the easier route. caught up in the heat of the conversation, kat is not as fortunate as the others - and the cofagrigus' shadow claw manages to hit her.

and while the attack of the ghost-type is super effective and manages to toss her away, kat regains her standing quite quickly. "ow- what the hell. that came out of no where!" now, however, she was actually salty. following alec's lead, the mage opts to rely on her fire spells as well. light as a feather, katherine begins to spin in place - performing a dance for the mob that just spawned. to her spin join flames, cradling her avatar as they grow in their size and heat respectively-- just enough. just enough before they all shoot at the cofagrigus, joining the flames of the other mage's ERUPT.

the combined assault of the three proves to be powerful enough to defeat the ghost-type, which begins to fade into tiny pixels that melt into the sand.

"i have to say... this cofagrigus was stronger than most of the mobs i've encountered." the pinkette admits, eyes shifting between kyle and alec. "but we did a good job- i think. aside from that dumb shadow claw..." to think that she was the only one who was damaged by it. how shameful.

a few clicks on the side of her screen confirm that she accepted alec's friend request, and even sent one to kyle. maybe it'd be good to keep this ranger as a friend rather than an enemy who puts bounties on her head.
