[attr="class","athread"]An evening in Ignis was an impressive sight, especially by game standards. Even in the dead of night, the spouts of steam from volcanoes and geysers brought Lavaridge to mind. The game couldn’t perfectly transmit temperature to them, but Annie knew that the place felt ‘warm’.

The pool of lava at the edge of her vision helped too.

Having already lost a life to it, Ultimeite stood far away it as she awaited her partner. Her and the rogue had some training to do if they were going to win their rematch, and the nameless beasts of the fiery lands would make for good practice. They’d need to learn how to handle the burn, after all. Especially Steal, but she wouldn’t say that (out loud).

Stepping from the shadows in true rogue fashion, Gavin's voice is threaded with dry humour. He has no intentions of facing death, and he's certain that the stubborn warrior feels the same. It was one thing to fall in battle against a long-ranged mage with super-effective attacks, and quite another to lose to simple-minded mob AI.[break][break]

Equipped with new attacks after their failed PvP, buffered with the experience from finally handing in that stupid Farfetch'd quest, Gavin's ready for the grind.

An identical foe is dodged by the rogue with a parting shot, quickly disabled by a taunt from the ball-shaped mob. All right, if that's how they wanted to play this...[break][break]

His bug-type moves would be ineffective and Venoshock wasn't as useful without the poisoned condition, so Gavin fires off a dark pulse and is forced to take the next flare blitz directly. It stings at his skin and chunks down his health, but a close-range dark pulse is enough to finish off the low-level creature. Gavin takes a pause to apply a burn-healing salve, then turns his attention to Ultimeite.[break][break]

These mobs prove unable to taunt him the way the others had, and Gavin falls back to his tried-and-true combo. He darts in with a swipe of his daggers and has to move quick to dodge the furious swiping of the Simisear in return, but poison slowly ticks down the primates health until Gavin's able to get clear of its claws and finish it off with his venoshock.[break][break]

His attacks aren't as flashy as those of a mage, or as hard-hitting as those of a warrior, but he enjoys the sport all the same.[break][break]

"No harm in showing off," he says, his avatar performing an idle animation of cleaning blood from his blades as Gavin sorts through his inventory to make sure he has room for the drops. "If you've got skill, use it."

Claiming what was hers proved a harmless endeavour; there was only one enemy left in the area, who’d chosen to announce herself. The sun’s rays suddenly bearing down on them heralded the arrival of-

Her new favourite move allowed her to close the distance between them, switching her katana for herself as the weapon of choice. The Ninetales was treated to the fiercest of body-checks through Accelerock, though the proximity left Annie open to each an attack too. Will-O-Wisp cut into her attack and health alike, and the girl wisely took a few steps back, trusting that the rogue could handle the rest.

Ultimeite charges before Gavin has so much as processed the start of the fight, owing to the increased priority of her rock-type move. It seems to do quite a number on the Pokemon, who retaliates with a will-o-wisp and then turns its red eyes onto Gavin.[break][break]

The attack is invisible, unpredictable. An extrasensory blast manifests in the form of a sharp pain in his temple and his screen begins to flash alongside his health bar. It really figured that a stupid fire fox would have access to psychic-type moves, didn't it?[break][break]

With one hand pressed to his throbbing temple, Gavin lifts the dagger in his other hand to release a dark pulse from the pommel, finishing off the beast.
