When playing solo, it's difficult to get anywhere in the Infinite Tower. The place is packed with parties looking to capitalize on safety in numbers, and Gavin figures most solo players steer well clear of it for that exact reason.[break][break]

Gavin, though, he wants the loot.[break][break]

However, safety in numbers is a wise tactic... so when another lone player descends the stairs behind him and the rogue rounds on her with daggers raised, he doesn't immediately strike. His Shadow Tag ability takes hold, preventing the player's escape.[break][break]

"Truce?" he offers. "We go much further than this and it's all teams anyway, kill each other and we'll just get picked off when we're weakest."[break][break]

She does not level a weapon at him, and after she agrees to the truce and he accepts the party request, Gavin lowers those he'd aimed at her.

It's easier to relax, now, knowing that they won't be able to hurt one another even if they'd wanted to, at least not without dropping from the party and sending up red flags. He nods at her question, and turns to face the stairs...

... upon which point he only narrowly manages to dodge a Kingdra's hydro pump, the water-cannon bursting against the wall behind him as he leaps out of the way with parting shot. He could have swapped places with a party member and forced his new friend to take the damage in his place, but didn't feel it necessary when there was enough room on the floor to just move out of the way.

His signature twineedle+venoshock combo chunks down its health, though he takes damage from its dragon pulse before finally finishing it off with a retaliatory dark pulse.

almost immediately they are set upon. the man leaps away from an assault, yet with Sidonie in the rear, this does not affect her much. she is made for range. using flame wheel to boost her speed, however weak the typing is against the Kingdra mobs, it is effective for her goals.

she easily takes the second one appearing, biting down with psychic fang. the kingdra retaliates with hydro pump, yet she dodges and sends a cooling blizzard that way. the mob falls at her feet. a bit too close for comfort.

"I suppose you like the challenge" Sidonie muses, returning to the man's side. good, she would not wish to carry a potential weakling throughout the tower.

Panpour appear less challenging from the outset, though he's quickly proven wrong when one of their taunts prevents his signature escape. He's going to have to get in close and end it quick, then. Fine.[break][break]

He blasts it with a dark pulse to catch it off guard, then dodges a retaliatory burst of scalding water in order to close the distance and plunge both daggers forward for a twineedle attack.[break][break]

The monkey falls, and Gavin collects his loot.

his reply is brief as he leaps back into action. another good thing - she does not like to waste type talking. especially when reward was to be gained without it. another blizzard is sent the spawn's way, with the man having already felled one of them.

allowing it to chill for a moment, she'd get in close with psychic fang. her speed still boosted from the fire-type move, it is quick and easy. the Panpour falls. she bends over to collect the loot given to her.

"how many floors do you think this tower has?" Sidonie muses "actually has, that is?" Infinite Tower it may be, but all things had to end eventually.

"No clue," he shrugs. "I imagine they'd only bother to code it as high as players could feasibly reach. How high that is? Beats me."[break][break]

Most players would go down far before the floor they could reach under best possible scenarios, and the Tower seeks to show the pair exactly why that is. The floor beneath their feet shakes beneath the stomping feet of a newly-spawned boss, the Drednaw letting out a horrific snarl as it spots them and attacks.[break][break]

Its rock smash is quickly dodged by his parting shot, its stats lowered a small amount as Gavin lands just out of reach.[break][break]

He jumps on its back, driving both daggers beneath a weak point in its shell, twin needles that seep poison into its bloodstream. It snarls and tries to shake him off, but Gavin holds fast.[break][break]

"Now's your chance, while it's distracted!"[break][break]

He hits it with a venoshock to keep its attention on throwing him off, giving the mage an opening to perform her best attacks.
