Ryland had walked around inside the Granite Cave, hoping to score a decent steel type Pokemon. He needed more Pokemon if he wanted to have a chance against challenging the Gym Leaders of Hoenn. The Teenage boy walked deeper into the cave, showing no fear. It wasn't even because he had his Incineroar with him. Ryland was scared of anything really. Living in Pyrite Town did that to people, or at least, that's what he had figured. He spoke to his Pokemon as he continued walking; saying, "Stay on guard, Jalapeno. This place could be crawling with Pokemon, so stay sharp."

The Incineroar gave a slight huff with a nod, listening to Ryland carefully. Then again, the big guy was doing that in the first place. Ryland knew his two Pokemon all too well. They wouldn't be so careless to not pay attention to whether something was attempting to sneak up on them and attack. Ryland trusted his Incineroar and Toxtricity, know full well that they could take care of a threat.

Not a moment later, a Ferrothorn had appeared out from around the corner, which had made Jalapeno quickly jolt passed Ryland, using Flare Blitz, not afraid to attack the wild pokemon head-on. With one attack, the Ferrothorn was quickly down and out. "Thanks for savin my bacon there. Now, lets keep moving." Ryland had said, this time letting his Incineroar take the lead this time. Sure, Ryland wasn't scared, but he also wasn't an idiot. If Pokemon were gonna jump out of nowhere like that, then having his Pokemon take the lead would definitely be the smartest choice he could make at the moment.

Besides, he knew that Jalapeno would be able to take care of Steel Type Pokemon that would cross their path. It didn't matter if they were twice his size. Jalapeno would be able take care of it.

Ryland and Jalapeno had kept moving deeper into the Granite Cave, being on guard for what might pop out next. Surely enough, a dangerous Lairon had appeared, letting out a roar as it had stood in front of them, threatening from continuing further into the cave. "Alright, Jalapeno, we're gonna catch this one! You know what to do," Ryland had said, not needing to say anything further. The Incineroar, charged the wild Lairon with Flare Blitz Like it had done to the Ferrothorn.

The Lairon was hit pretty badly, however it still had some fight in it, which was technically a good thing, or at least, it was to Ryland. The Lairon had attempted to strike Jalapeno down with a Heavy Slam, however the Incineroar, was faster, able to dodge and then quickly counter with a Darkest Lariat. When the Lairon seemed to be down and out, Ryland quickly threw a pokeball at it, having a feeling that the pokeball would click.
