Matthew rubs the back of his head, convinced that he keeps feeling something ping off the back of it. Seeds are lodged in his hair and with every swipe of his fingers, he retrieves more and more. They fall around him and he growls, turning around quickly to try and find whoever is laying siege to him.[break][break]

Of course, whoever is tormenting him is much sneakier and faster than some lumbering man. The flutter of wings overhead is brief as Matthew tries to catch sight of the culprit. Unfortunately, he finds nothing but a falling feather that he brushes off his shoulder indifferently. [break][break]

The man approaches a nearby tree in order to lean and pick out the remainder of the seeds in his hair. It almost makes him wish he'd brought his own package of seeds to crack between his teeth. Unfortunately, all he had was a stale granola bar. The only thing still good in it were the dried berries, and he began to tug them out of the bar.[break][break]

That is, until the Starly made his grand reappearance, stealing the granola bar right from his hands with a RECKLESS BRAVE BIRD that knocks the wind out of his chest. The bird settles down in the grass, ravenously digging at the bar and pulling out the sweet candied berries himself. Matthew whistles for Juliet and the Chimecho is quick to YAWN as soon as the Starly looks up. [break][break]

It flies a few feet before dropping: sound asleep. Matthew chuckles as he aims to capture the bird.[break][break]

He tosses the Starly's Pokeball up and down in his hand, the resounding smack as it claps in his palm is rhythmic. So much so that he gets lost in the moment. The only thing that distracts him is the sudden and out of rhythm rattling that interrupts his train of thought.[break][break]

When he looks down, he is surprised to find a Dunsparce at his feet. It has begun to panic, unable to move fast enough to get out of his way. She seems RATTLED, literally, as she frantically uses her defensive noises to warn Matthew from getting any closer. [break][break]

In fact, she even GLARES, thoroughly startling Juliet. Matthew glances back at the Ludicolo still frolicking at the edge of the river, and the lawn chair he had abandoned in search of Pokemon. What had happened to him just relaxing?[break][break]

"Hello, hello, little lady. No need to be defensive, I'm just minding my own business."[break][break]

However, the shiny baby COILS herself tighter, her chubby serpentine body struggling to tuck herself tighter, to pretend she wasn't there. But it's honestly impossible to miss her. She's yellow and pink and sparkly, totally different from any other Dunsparce he had ever seen before.[break][break]

"Say.. you feel like sunbathing, little lady?"[break][break]

He gestures to the lawn chair and the open space in front of him that's directly in the sun. She seems to take a liking to that idea, and Matthew kneels down to pick her up and carry her back to his chair. She quickly makes herself comfortable at his feet and he sighs deeply, reclining into his chair and enjoying the sun on his face. [break][break]

Matthew's loud snores are apparently a trustworthy attribute of his because, when he wakes, he's discovered a warm pile of fur in his lap. It appears that during his afternoon beer-induced nap in the sun he had not only grown a little sunburnt, but he had also made a new friend.[break][break]

The bundle of joy in his lap stirs when he does, opening its mouth in a wide yawn. The noise it makes as it settles back into its cuddling position is downright adorable and Matt, while half asleep, chuckles softly and strokes the Rockruff.[break][break]

It does appear, however, that Matthew is trapped in his current position. Chimecho had wrapped herself around his shoulders, nestled against his neck as she softly chimes away in her sleep. At his feet, or rather, on top of his feet, the Dunsparce lays sound asleep as well. [break][break]

"Am I that snuggly? Interesting.."[break][break]

He yawns but ultimately goes to get up - he has work to do after all. That, and he's pretty sure the warden is about to come and collect him. Especially given that she had managed to befriend two Pokemon as a result of his napping. Starly, Dunsparce and Rockruff - an interesting trio.[break][break]

Matthew cradles the sleeping puppy in his arms as he shifts his weight to half-squat and gather his things. He wasn't going to litter.[break][break]
