he remains unwavering in his resolve to not apologize because if he does then it would mean accepting the majority of the blame and guilt. both concepts are almost foreign to him because he's never had to second-guess himself. but with her he finds him having to do it a little too often.

"and what makes you say that?"

her question begins to crack his indifference. his gaze shifts elsewhere as he feels a swirl of emotions bubbling in him. perhaps it's unfamiliarity is what makes it seem so volatile.

She can't tell if there's guilt behind his eyes. All she can see is his stubborn refusal to apologize. He leans, professing indifference in the face of her questions. He answers her questions with his own and it surprises her. Irritates her.

"You are impossible."

Grief ceases the skin of her nose as she raises her hand to rub her face, forcing away the pain that sweeps briefly across her face. She composes herself quickly.

She draws closer, pushing unspoken boundary. Her eyes continue to search his, as if questioning his very soul.

"I think you know what I'm talking about."
