Lars had sent out a request for anyone who was closest in the area to join him as he looked into something that had sprung up on the Slateport Outskirts. Some kind of “car demolition” mini-event, or something.

He was… okay, maybe he was more than a little concerned that there may be pickpockets hanging around such a crowded place due to the number of people who wanted to come down and see the ‘shit show’, so to speak. He then added a special request to bring a strong, capable Pokémon with whoever would want to join him.

Now that he was here, waiting for his companion to arrive—he wondered if he would be able to spot any kind of criminal activity in the crowds that had gathered to watch this car getting wrecked. Either way…

He summoned his best and most capable partner, Ro the Metagross, and the crowd cheered even more at the sight of the silver Metagross as it emerged from the flash of red light. Without further ado, he tapped on the Metagross’s leg and pointed at their target: a pick-up truck.

“Keep them busy,” was all he said and off the Metagross went with a Magnet Rise, before coming to a stop and aiming a series of Bullet Punches on the pick-up truck’s trailer.

[attr="class","ithread"]iris responds to the text immediately. she hadn't been doing anything important at the time, just some uneventful patrolling. when she enters the scrapyard, the confusion's clear on her face. weaving through the crowd with an efficient grace, it does not take long for her to locate her boss.

"mister anderson--" she greets. though she had more to say, she's caught off guard by the sight of a metagross--his metagross--pummelling what was soon becoming the wreckage of a car. "...what exactly am i supposed to be helping with?"

“If you have any Pokémon that can help my Metagross out and keep them distracted, send them out to help,” he began as he tilted his head to one side, indicating the general direction of the car.

“Even if this is normally way out of our line of work, I’ve gotten some reports that there may be some suspicious individuals lurking around the area, trying to steal Pokémon off the crowd that’s gathered here,” he explained as quietly as possible.

The way his eyes were darting around the crowd meant he was on the lookout for anything suspicious—thankfully there wasn’t anything too rowdy going down. At least, not yet.

Back where the Metagross was, Ro let out a snort before taking aim at the front cab and aiming a Meteor Mash attack. What was wrong with the car, why was it not getting wrecked quickly?!

[attr="class","ithread"]while she had her reservations, orders were orders. iris sends her blitzle towards the car with a few words, releasing blue as the pokemon trotted off. this seemed more like the sort of work she did with rocket--a brute force mission--but anderson had seemed to sense those thoughts.

she looks around the crowd as she does, trying to spot any suspicious characters. clasping her behinds behind her back, she hears the crash of her blitzle unleashing a DOUBLE KICK onto the car.

A particularly powerful smashing noise echoed from behind, and Lars looked over for the briefest of moments to check what had happened. Clearly, Ro’s Meteor Mash had knocked the pick-up truck’s door clean off its hinges and sent it flying some distance away, and the crowd roared at that particular bit of destruction.

“See anything?” he asked his companion, turning to scan the opposite side of the crowd (the part that was to her back) just in case anything was going on over there. At least they had a good range of visibility just in case they spotted any suspicious movement coming from the crowd.

Back where the Metagross had moved, he then repositioned himself before using a Psychic bomb of energy to lift the pick-up door that had been sent flying, before chaining into a Telekinetic movement and manipulating the vehicle in such a way it was easier to hit from all sides.

And then the car door came crashing down onto the wind shield, the sound of glass shattering ringing out from behind Lars.

[attr="class","ithread"]her gaze lingers on a pair of women in leather jackets. they seem to navigate the crowd with the same care she had before, but when she looked closer she could see them both slipping things into their pockets every now and then.

"those two at five o'clock." she turns her gaze before either of them can notice her scrutiny. the whole point of this distraction was the element of surprise.

her blitzle uses FLAME CHARGE, using the heat to weaken the metal and make the rest of the job easier. meanwhile, iris awaits further command from anderson.

The moment she spoke up, his peripheral vision moved to match the direction where she had noticed the suspicious individuals moving about, and he took weight of the situation carefully.

“Move quickly, but don’t be seen by them. I trust you can do this? I’ll circle around from the other side in case they try to escape,” he continued quietly. Thank goodness for the loud noise that came from the Metagross now wielding the smashed car door like an extra appendage, trying to break in the roof of the car.

Turning his attention back to Ro, he called out, “Try to smash it a little harder, will you?” before hearing a grating noise of reassurance and getting ready to move in the opposite direction. A surprise pincer formation would be best to collar the two she’d spotted without raising too much of a fuss.

Back where the Metagross was now more than angry (because the car wasn’t getting wrecked as fast as he wanted it to) he then slammed the car door as hard as he could with another powerful burst of a Psychic and Telekinesis combination, which resulted in a much louder, shattering noise coming from the pick-up truck.

Clearly the Metagross was getting upset that its frame advantage wasn’t being capitalized on.

[attr="class","ithread"]iris begins to move as soon as the order's spoken. her appearance fortunately does a lot to ease suspicion--the most attention she gets is a few anger mutters as she attempts to manoeuvre past some of the less friendly folk. everyone seems to be entranced by the show of violence, waiting with baited breath as the seconds tick on.

she didn't understand, but it wasn't her job to. her blitzle seems to enjoy the attention, preparing with AGILITY before using a series of DOUBLE KICKS.

blue stays by her side, somehow managing to keep up even with the crowd. as soon as the pair are within reach, she quickly glances around to check on anderson's position.

Once she had taken off, he lingered a bit longer to allow her a head start. After she had disappeared from his peripheral field of vision, he said to Ro, “Look, if that isn’t wrecked soon, you and I are going to have to talk,” he said with a bit of an edge in his voice to the Metagross.

The normally stoic silver creature let out a panicked noise and sent the wrecked car door airborne—held up by the Telekinesis, in a comical juggling effect. “You heard me, Ro. Make as much noise as you can,” and with that he went towards the opposite side of the crowd, his eyes raking through the crowd as he made his way through the area.

While there were slightly angrier ‘patrons of the wreck’ annoyed that their view was momentarily blocked by Lars passing, he didn’t stop moving until he caught sight of the particularly blue head of hair. She was looking for him and waiting for a signal, and the moment he caught her line of sight, he nodded her way.

The signal to move quickly and apprehend them without raising too much fuss.

Back where the Metagross was still juggling the damned car door in mid-air, the Telekinesis hold broke on it, before Ro let out a grating, screeching noise and unleashed his angriest Meteor Mash on the truck. Here’s to hoping the sound of the pick-up truck’s siren going off was enough to provide them cover…
