[attr="class","lancepost"]night befalls after a thrilling hike of mount chimney. the path remains vaguely illuminated from the lava within the volcanic mountain. the bright red and yellow flicker and leak across the vicinity, providing enough light to not have to rely on other sources. not that it matters for rotta; the purple-rodent is more attuned with his other senses than lance is.

lavaridge looms in the near distance but until then, who knows what creatures await them.

[attr="class","lancepost"]a curious nose finds another as rotta comes across a wild houndour in a patch of grass. rotta tilts his head up to look at the fire-type and their size difference is significant enough to possibly strain his neck.

"leave it alone, rotta. no one likes a bully."

as much of a troublemaker the rattata is, he is loyal to his trainer and ultimately listens to the order. but it doesn't mean he can't bump into the houndour, which he does before turning to RUN AWAY.

[attr="class","lancepost"]for such a small creature rotta sure is fast. he zooms through the grass and leaves the houndour in its wake, eating dust and soot. impressive, to say the least. lance soon follows and shifts into a jog to keep up.

something flickers up ahead and rotta slides to a halt. he peers up with curious eyes and sees a rapidash; flames burning bright and proud. lance eventually catches up.

"oh, neat."

the two parties simply look at each other, neither willing to make the first move. so eventually they just pass by and go on their merry ways.

"bro how much you lift?"

lance would flex but he would pale in comparison so he doesn't bother. instead he stays out of the way of the machoke and allows it to pass them, breathing a sigh of relief when it finally does.

"close call, buddy," he says to his rattata.
