[attr="class","witness"]As Tilly lowered herself down and laid her wings down with her little three talons up, Francie took a step into her hand and was lifted up and onto Tilly's back. Francie held a hand down, to help Matthew climb up if he needed it.

"Don't worry, Tilly doesn't bite."

She figured maybe he thought as much, given that he assumed the dinosaurs were prone to misbehave.

Matt watches as Francie is lifted onto the Pokemon's back. He only hesitates because of the chilling look he had received, but glances up to Francie as she reaches down for him.[break][break]

He returns the pup to his pokeball before taking her hand and sliding in behind her. There's a moment where he realizes he doesn't know what to do with his hands, so he lets them rest on his legs until they're ready to go airborne.[break][break]

"I wasn't worried about her biting. And.. I apologize for thinking poorly of your control over your dinosaurs."[break][break]

His mouth felt dry, like he was talking too much. God, this was way out of his comfort zone.

[attr="class","witness"]Francie's not too terribly worried about the lift off. Tilly is gentle, despite her size and Francie is used to her flight. She does, however, understand that not everybody is. With that being said, she makes sure to lean back enough so she can hear Matthew if he speaks.

"That's okay! I mean, really, it's not like I haven't gotten it before. I'm a very petite person, after all."

Admitting her height is the reason why people misunderstand her control over her pokemon feels strange, but also freeing.

"But they all listen very well given the right sort of training. It wasn't easy, and took nearly a year... though, not with Tilly. I think it was love at first sight for her. She's always been the best and most well behaved, besides Louie-- he's my dusk lycanroc."

Yep, she just decided to ramble the whole way to the route about her babies. Why? Because she's a proud rock momma.

When she leans back toward him his ears burn and neck itches. It's probably because she's small and soft and warm and he's a big guy and not good at social settings or cues. She's just trying to hear him better but he's overthinking it, and because of that, he opts to say nothing.[break][break]

That is, until she speaks up and insinuates her size and makes it seem like he thought she was too small to be an experienced or capable trainer and oh god:[break][break]

"Your size is fine, miss Myrtle. You look great."[break][break]

What?[break][break]

Thankfully his comment is maybe drowned out by her rambling. And, instead of finding it annoying in any way he finds it genuinely charming. And relieving, because it meant she could talk and he could just listen. [break][break]

And maybe realize at some point he had begun to hold onto her as they flew - just in case he felt like he was slipping.

She made a face, almost immediately, and groaned.

"First little lady, now miss Myrtle? Is my name really so foreign, Matthew?"

It really wasn't. A name like Francie wasn't hard to say and Francie knew that. She was mostly just teasing Matthew. But before he could get a word off, because she eyes something on the mountain.

"Down there, Tilly! A gravler! C'mon, go go go!"

Her excitement gets a screech of acceptance before Tilly is lowering herself down and landing on the route near the pokemon. It is only once they were landed that Francie bounces off of Tilly and tosses out Lyonel.

"Get it's attention, we can't lose him!"

Lyonel eyes the graveler and quickly makes his way over to the circular pokemon, giving it a taunt. Francie turns to be sure that Matthew has dismounted Tilly, before grinning at her.

"Iron head, please"

As Francie ready's a heavy ball, Tilly's head begins to glow. She swoops her wings before taking off at a deadly speed, ramming into the gravler with her iron head before it can even begin it's roll out.

God, why did he --[break][break]

Suddenly they're pivoting downward before he could apologize. His stiff mannerisms are a result of his own uncertainty on how to properly address her. She was a gym leader after all. His superior, maybe, kind of. Probably only if he was living in Petalburg. Maybe one day.[break][break]

His thoughts melt away when he remembers they're plummeting to chase a Graveler. As soon as they reach an outcrop of some kind he dismounts as quickly as he can, stumbling to the side as the Aerodactyl continues on her crash course into the unsuspecting wild Pokemon.[break][break]

But he has to appreciate Francie's spirit and excitement. It occurs to him that she must be a rock-type gym leader. Obviously.[break][break]

His amused grin turns sour, however, as something particularly hot worms its way into his boot. With a cry of surprise and pain, the man hops up and down on his good foot, struggling to remove his boot. A Sizzlipede shaped welt on his foot is the result of this action, and a confused and rattled Sizzlipede is sprawled out a few paces away.[break][break]

He gasps, gingerly touching his new battle scar before scowling at the tiny fire bug.[break][break]

"What the hell?"[break][break]

Despite his frustration, he chooses to toss a Pokeball at the stunned Pokemon regardless.[break][break]

[attr="class","witness"]Hearing Matthew's complaint over his injury has Francie turning to see him. Worry spreads over her as she gets closer, returning Lyonel before he can antagonize Tilly into an even worse mood.

"It doesn't look too bad, but, are you alright?"

Her attention is then taken completely from her when a rock whizzes by her head. Her eyes grow wide and she turns around to see Tilly scolding a probopass who tried to hit her with a rock blast and missed. As punishment, Tilly is quick to let her jaws glow, screeching as she chomps furiously on the probopass. First with fire fang, then ice. The probopass uses a discharge in defense, which causes Francie's eyes to widen and her body to flinch.

"Tilly! Let go of it!"

As the aerodactyl gives out a whine, releasing the probopass mostly out of weakness, that had hurt!, Francie throws a heavy ball mostly to be safe. She immediately makes her way over to comfort her aerodactyl.

"You too? Thanks, Til."

She's petting her near purring fossil, who wraps around her protectively.

Hearing Francie fret over his minor injury is humiliating and he grunts a response. He attempts to shrug his shoulders and pass it off as not a big deal because really, it isn't, he's just a big baby.[break][break]

The man slips his boot back on and pockets the Sizzlipede's pokeball, but it seems as though they have more company to take care of.[break][break]

While the Boldore melts into the background and minds its business, a Nosepass has taken it upon itself to attack Francie with a dangerous move. Two inches to the left and she might not have an ear.[break][break]

The colour drains from his face for a moment at the thought of her being harmed, and he quickly opts to stand in front of her despite the Aerodactly's protective advance.[break][break]

Fortunately, despite the damage Tilly takes due to the electric attack, the Nosepass is defeated and Francie rectifies the situation by capturing it. He doubts her decision for a moment but doesn't press it. She was clearly faceless - and she knew how to handle a rock type. She'd be fine... probably.[break][break]

"You alright? That Nosepass could have taken your head off."

[attr="class","witness"]The way Matthew had moved protectively in front of her actually warms Francie's heart a bit. She can't help but smile, as she makes her way over and takes the probopass she'd caught, sending the ball to her storage for now. She turned toward Matthew and shrugged her shoulders.

"I've trained dinosaurs and gotten broken bones from tripping over stairs. I'm sure if the probopass wanted, it could have gotten my head. But I have a feeling, it was mostly an accident. It probably just wanted to get a good fight in with Tilly. Plus, Tilly probably taunted it to be honest..."

Francie's sentence slowed and eventually died off, along with her tone, as she eyed something behind Matthew. It was then that she realized, it wasn't a rock blast that the probopass had hit her with.

"OH MY GOODNESS! NO WAY! SHUT UP!"

Cue panic. Francie frantically made her way over to where the 'rock' had hit, bending down to move the rubble out of the way. It was a minior, that had been thrown by the probopass, or possibly landed on the probopass and caused it to fling it elsewhere.

"It's a minior! I've never seen one in person! Wow!"

Squeals and squeaks later, she was pulling out a ball and capturing the creature.

"I wonder if Mr. Leivern would know anything about it... or maybe Lucas Lane."

She was clueless about miniors, despite it being a type she adored. She'd simply never done the research and maybe it was high time.

The way she shrugs her shoulders is such a bizarrely simple and easy gesture from her that he's momentarily stunned into silence. She's so carefree and indifference and fearless, stepping past him to pick up the Probopass. She even forgives the Pokemon, writing her own scenario to paint the Pokemon in a better light.[break][break]

It occurs to him right then and there that she is a better person than he is. A far, far better person. One might even call her an angel.[break][break]

However, he can't help but notice her attention turn to a whisper as her eyes focus on something past his arm. He hesitates, glancing to follow her wide-eyed gaze, only to step out of her way hurriedly as she blew past him. There's excitement in her tone as she approaches the Minior.[break][break]

"What is that?"[break][break]

He's bewildered, genuinely surprised by the sight of the Pokemon. It's nothing he's ever seen before.[break][break]

But she answers his question and then goes on to ramble about someone named Mr. Leivern and Lucas Lane. Wait -- wasn't Lane one of the head scientists? He's pretty sure he'd heard that name before. [break][break]

Francie ultimately captures the Minior but retains her excitement. It's contagious, and Matthew smiles down at her with a sheepish grin.[break][break]

"Your enthusiasm knows no bounds, it seems."
