[attr="class","mthread"]priam's moved to a private room shortly after his arrival: the first warning sign. the next is their doctor, who lingers even after the round of check-ups. the man sits in a chair, more focused on his phone than either of the two rockets, occasionally looking up to send them a wry smile. after some few minutes, his phone goes off and he leaves the room. a few more minutes pass.

marcel arrives outside the room, remedying his state of disarray as he walks. as he straightens out his cuffs, the doctor gives him a run-down of priam's condition, all good news. "thanks," marcel takes out a few notes, placing them into the man's open palm. as he does so, he catches a quick glance of his clipboard. he scoffs. "feel free to overcharge him too, bastard needs to learn his lesson."

the doctor smirks as he pockets his reward, laughing along at marcel's suggestion. he makes some light-hearted jibe about favours, drinks too, and marcel forces a grin, though he isn't paying him much mind. as the doctor pretends to busy himself with a nearby trolley, marcel pushes open the door.

"you--" his sharp gaze lands on abner, "--have some explaining to do."

priam wears a nervous smile as marcel proceeds to go for abner. it was all too expected of a reaction that even both priam and abner had mutually decided not to tell him. he didn't know if abner eventually folded or if marcel just knew of it from his sources.

he lays on his bed, and for the first time in forever, sits patiently and quietly without any indication of excitement. if anything, he's too anxious to even make any movement, not wanting to be reprimanded even further by the rocket admin.

part of him just wanted to watch a spat between the two happen, still undecided on whether he'd be upset with the conclusion of it or not.

Shit.

Abner doesn't feel guilty. It's common knowledge that Abner doesn't know how to feel guilty. He takes the blame for things, pretty often, but usually guilt isn't the feeling. It's something more along the lines of... well, he's too apathetic to put the effort into guilt and instead just accepts the responsibility while wholly uncaring as to what the consequences might be. He'll deal with them later, or ignore them. Real good at ignoring them.

Marcy's glare just has Abner raising a curious brow.

"Pre blew us the fuck up," Abner began with a shrug. "With a forrettress. We're not dead, are we?"

He looked to Priam, then back to Marcel, then shrugged. Sure, Priam had some bumps and bruises, but so did Abner! And what was Marcel's response? Not asking Abner if he was doing well. Not that Abner cared, but fuck, he got blown up too, right? Still, if it had killed Priam... maybe he would have felt guilty.

Shit.

"blew up?!" his voice begins to rise, "i thought i told you not to do that shit unless--!" marcel pauses as he tries to remember his exact words, eventually giving up with a sigh. priam would remember--or at least, he better.

another breath. marcel moves over to priam's bedside and gives the boy a once-over. mollified, but still entirely displeased, he turns back to abner. the man's indifference only pisses him off more. "what were you doing?!" he snaps, "why didn't you stop him?!"

if they were two different people, priam would have egged them on and spilled add fuel to the fire. only when did marcel raise his voice did priam decide it was time to speak up.

"w-we were limit testing... yeah! you know, just in case i actually have to explode a pokemon so i know how far i need to run away from it?"

it was an excuse, more or less. in a sense, priam wasn't lying since that's the general objective of a friendly match. at the very least, it masked the fact that they actually sparred to practice for that fight club.

technically, it wasn't lying if he just didn't speak it out loud.

"it's better to know to what extent your pokemon can perform instead of going into the battlefield unprepared, or something like that." he tries to quote Eva Dumont but the smart things she says sound so fake when it comes from his mouth.

[attr="class","witness"]Marcel's explosion had Abner a little irritated. Though his expression doesn't change, there's an impatient tapping of his heel that's a dead giveaway to anybody who knows him well enough.

But to the two in the room, maybe they wouldn't notice, since he hadn't known Marcel on a personal level, just professional, until recently and Priam he'd really just gotten to know. They could barely be considered friends, or something. Maybe they were friends... shit, were they? He didn't know.

"It happened too fast for anybody to have control over the explosion. It was a simple trainer lacked the ability to control his pokemon moment, and there wasn't anything either of us could have done to stop the situation from happening."

Abner's cool demeanor was very uncharacteristic, but he was simply speaking so he didn't lunge over the bed and attempt to strangle Marcy's smug and angry ass.

his phone goes off. marcel takes it out his pocket just far enough to glance at the screen, before pocketing it again with a mutter. "and abner, i swear to god if this is to do with your fight club..."

marcel was frequently annoyed, but never did reach a point where priam legitimately find himself wanting to keep his mouth closed. he'd have to find ways for him to be cooling off later.

"it's okay. the fight club doesn't use pokemon," he comments, trying to help with the situation.

maybe he shouldn't have spoken though, and tried to retain the stance that he was innocent towards it to marcel. part of him knew that withholding that from marcel wasn't going to help him though.

a hand covers his mouth, trying not to say anything else further that puts his relationship with either of them in a predicament.

Abner's palm meets his forehead and the slap can be heard from across the hospital. He groaned and pulled his hand down his face, because that certainly didn't help, and he was going to be dealing with a very bitchy Marcel here in about three seconds. He needed to speak quickly.[break][break]

"Whether you like it or not, Praim's probably going to participate in fight club. No, there aren't any pokemon used in fight club, because it's not pokemon fight club. That's not my jive."[break][break]

He stood up, in an attempt to meet Marcel eye to eye but their height difference just has Abner towering over Marcel instead.[break][break]

"I took him out into the outskirts because the dumbfuck asked me to help him practice for fight club so he didn't get his ass handed to him on a silver platter. I showed him a few moves, I challenged him to a battle, pokemon went boom."[break][break]

Abner's voice was near a low growl. Talk about needing to cool off-- this whole situation was Priam's very own

and somehow Abner was the one that seemed to be getting royally fucked by lectures.[break][break]

This was not the kinda orgy he'd prefer, no thanks, and he was quick to leaving the damn room if Marcel was gonna play 'holier than thou big daddy rocket' for any damn longer.
