Oscar knew this would happen eventually, yet he still didn't feel prepared. It has been a very long time since he's participated in a traditional pokemon battle, and thus Oscar tended to avoid them as not to appear foolish. Yet he had no choice here, the only way to earn the Rune Badge was to win a double battle. He needed this badge if he wanted to rise through the ranks of Rocket, and so he swallowed his fear and signed up for a challenge.

At first his plan was to use his combo of Grievous the blaziken and Obi the Exeggutor, however as soon as Oscar realized that this was a Water gym he reluctantly switched Grievous for his Accelgor Tir-na-nog. His confidence was tanked by the reality of leaving behind his best soldier, but how else was he going to win?

The wait to actually enter the arena felt like it took ages, yet when he was finally called he wished he had more time. There was no turning back, it was time to prove he was as capable as he believed himself to be. He entered the arena with Tir and Obi on either side. While he was incredibly nervous, his face wore a mask of determination. No one has ever won badges by being a pussy, time to ante up. Tir and Obi took to the battlefield and waited for the challenge to begin.

alexander takes a moment to size up the opposing pokemon. being specialized in one type automatically puts him at a disadvantage, but perhaps the gym system is designed that way to help challengers.

most gym leaders start a battle already at a disadvantage because their opponent has most likely prepared a counter for their specialization. this isn't true for all gym leaders, more so for the traditional ones, but it is true for alexander, at least for this particular challenge.

feraligatr charges forward with incredible speed from AGILITY with pyu-pyu suctioned to its back. TOXIC looks to poison exeggutor in the mean time as feraligatr starts leapinga cross platforms, avoiding the water.

Just like that, the battle had begun. Oscar's eyes widened as the Feraligatr charged, far faster than Oscar had ever seen its species move before. It was coming in hot, so Oscar had to think quickly. He had a plan in mind, and as long as he could set it up this battle should be quick. He was wary though, he couldn't see the leader's second pokemon. Was it just the one?

No matter, he gave his pokemon orders. "Obi, stick to the plan. Don't you dare move. Tir, try to stop it. You know what to do." Obi stood still while Tir used his superior speed to easily flee to the far left. A small glowing orb appeared on Obi's head, and after a moment the orb would shoot up into the sky. The orb burst with light, covering the battle field in a harsh heat Sunny Day. Obi then leaned the top of his head down toward the Feraligatr and prepared for his next attack.

Meanwhile Tir charged up an Energy Ball, but held off on firing it. When he deemed the Feraligatr close enough, he shot the orb a few feet in front of Obi. The attack wasn't intended to necessarily hit his opponent, but rather cause it to stop its charge to avoid the attack and allow Obi to strike. Then again the timing would cause the Feraligatr to run right into it if it wasn't paying attention.

Tir however noticed something Oscar and Obi did not, and that was the Pyukumuku on the Feraligatr's back. He also saw the Toxic head right for Obi, and knew there was little he could do to stop it. Toxic had a spotty accuracy though, and hopefully the Pyukumuku's aim would be flawed.

Notes:
Tir dodged to the left and used a well timed Energy Ball.
Obi used Sunny Day and set up his next move.
To determine if Toxic hits or not, I will roll. 49 and below is a failure, 50 and above hits.

[attr="class","devonpost"]the distance is easily closed as feraligatr charges with immense speed, almost disappearing into a blur. the water-type is too focused on the exeggutor to see the accelgor charging up an ENERGY BALL. but thankfully, feraligatr isn't fighting this battle alone.

"swivel."

an order comes from alexander and the moment it hears it, feraligatr plants its foot down and swivels, turning just enough to dodge the well-timed ENERGY BALL. the momentum doesn't stop, however, as feraligatr uses the turn to push off the ground to lunge at the exeggutor for an ICE FANG that looks more volatile for whatever reason.

pyu-pyu's HELPING HAND helps boost the attack, while also setting up for another TOXIC aimed at the accelgor this time.

Thanks to Obi's Chlorophyl ability, his speed was doubled under the bright sun. He could have easily gotten out of the way, and he very much wanted to. Oscar had other plans for its new found speed though, "Stay still. You know what to do." Obi's heads gulped as the Feraligatr barreled forward. It did as it was told, aiming the top of its head right toward the charging pokemon's chilled chomp.

Obi's attack and the Feraligatr's Ice Fang hitting happened simultaneously. As his opponent's jaws clamped down, Obi launched a near instantaneous blast of Solar Beam right down the overgrown reptile's gullet. Obi's heads screamed from the pain as they exerted all of their remaining vitality into its very likely final attack. Yes, there was no chance he could stay conscious after his attack ended. However, he at the very least wanted to take the Feraligatr with it.

Tir wasn't going to leave it to chance. He charged forward, noting the Pyukumuku's attempt at Toxic. As he ran forward, multiple Tirs appeared around him, each diving forward into the Toxic while Tir continued heading toward the duo(Double Team). When he was close enough to the Feraligatr, Tir fired off another Energy Ball to hopefully finish it off.

Notes:
Tir used Double Team to increase his evasion. The same roll will occur with a minus 10.
Tir used Energy Ball on the Feraligatr
Obi took the Ice Fang and used Solar Beam.
Obi will faint once his attack is done.

[attr="class","devonpost"]under normal circumstances, the SOLAR BEAM would have been more than enough to down the feraligatr. but the attack is predictable, set up by the SUNNY DAY from earlier, which is what allows pyu-pyu to counter accordingly.

as soon as the ICE FANG connects, pyu-pyu is already transferring her life over with PAIN SPLIT. it does just enough to allow feraligatr to survive the SOLAR BEAM, but things are not looking good.

the ENERGY BALL looks to sink the feraligatr, but pyu-pyu won't allow it to. detaching herself from ferligatr's body, she lunges in the way of the attack and takes the damage all for herself. she faints, but the accelgor will find some of the damage returning to its body, courtesy of pyu-pyu's INNARDS OUT.

"switch targets."

despite the state he's in, feraligatr shifts and charges right at the accelgor. multiple clones of him start to appear from DOUBLE TEAM, surrounding the bug-type before one of them whips their AQUA TAIL at it.

Oscar's eyes widened as the Feraligatr tanked the attack with the help of the Pyukumuku. He underestimated not the power of his opponent, but their ability to support each other. This was turning a tad dire; with Obi collapsing in a heap and Tir poisoned, Oscar would have to be very careful with how he proceeded.

Oscar called out to Tir as the Feraligatr turned on him, "Keep your health up!" Tir understood, using his Double Team clones to dive toward the gator while he cartwheeled to the side to dodge the Aqua Tail. His clones were demolished, but that's fine. Tir wouldn't need them currently.

He launched himself up and latched onto the side Feraligatr, his Sticky Hold helping to maintain his grip. Tir began draining the Feraligatr of his vitality, orbs of green energy being absorbed into his body (Giga Drain). As he ate, he would keep an eye on the pyukumuku. He knew it would try to attack to get him off, and he had to be ready for when that happens. For now, he needed to consume as much energy as he could.

Notes:
Obi has fainted.
Tir Dodged the Aqua Tail and used Giga Drain on Feraligatr.

"survive."

it doesn't need to be said but it acts as a reminder, just in case feraligatr gets too complacent. the AQUA TAIL sweeps across, clearing the clones but not the real one. feraligatr turns just in time to see it lunging at him.

the STICKY HOLD is strong and the water-type begins to feel his life being drained away by the GIGA DRAIN. feraligatr won't simply stand still and allow it to continue, however, as his body starts to tremble and vibrate. reaching a hand up, he jumps away and slaps the accelgor off, using AGILITY to create a large amount of distance between them.

TOXIC continues to tick away.
