There was value in all things, if you knew where to look for the right buyer. That’s what she believed, and the fuel to her life’s pursuit. Her parents had always said that a journey ends when lovers meet. Minerva had met many lovers in the past yet here she was, scouting for another potential amorous relationship. Her golden irises scanned the quiet, hallowed tunnels of Meteor Falls, atop the edge of a cliff, overlooking the waterfalls. She took in deep breaths, the fresh moist air filling her lungs. This was the perfect setting for a tragic love story.

Not that she was the kind of woman to fall for such romantic idiosyncrasies. Minerva was far to learned in the reality of affairs to be enthralled by such glamour. Still, where most people saw dirt, water, and stone, the TR Grunt saw possibilities. A quick buck, more or less. Like a luxury house, but abandoned and left to rot under time’s thrall. The Meteor Falls was just a big old, antiquated house just waiting to be devirginized and be robbed of its precious valuables.

She took another deep breath, for good measure. The higher the altitude, the less oxygen one could breathe. Such was the risk of those who aimed high, climbed high. Minerva took a glance down and whistled. “That’s a long way down…” She commented, but the glimmer in her eyes, the way she looked at the height, it was easy to see she wasn’t the least bit scared. That was another risk. The higher you go, the longer the fall.

Minerva backed away from the edge of the cliff, her voluptuous figure disappearing into the darkness. Her black, leather clothes fit perfectly into the shadows of the cave. Each step echoed until they too were swallowed up by the dark. Like she wasn’t even there.

Then, she ran. As fast she could, Minerva jumped off the edge of the cliff overlooking the lake forming at the basin of the waterfall. Time froze the moment her feet left the ground. It was only seconds, but it felt like an eternity before Minerva felt the pull of the ground, the rush of the fall, plummeting towards the uncertain. The thief was sure to survive. The lake did not look that shallow. A part of her, hoped at least.

look what you made me do
One night and one more time thanks for the memories even though they weren't so great he tastes like you, only sweeter one night, yeah, and one more time thanks for the memories, thanks for the memories see, he tastes like you, only sweeter, been looking forward to the future but my eyesight is going bad, in these crystal balls, it's always cloudy except for when you look into the past one night stand.

It was like flying. Everything else just became a blur in the rush, and then, she broke the surface of the water, an entire new world welcomed her. It was dark underwater, with barely any visibility, save for the streaks of light from up above. Like glittering gold, they blinked at the thief, beckoning to come closer. She swam up to the surface, gasping for air and brushing her wet hair backwards.

“Nothing better than a cool dip in the water before a treasure hunt.” She said to herself, pulling herself up from the shore. “But now the fun really begins.”

She stretched her arms, and bent over to loosen the muscles on her long, lithe legs. Her clothes were dripping wet, the leather bloated from her swim. That was no problem, however. She took off her pants and her top, leaving her with a mini-top and mini-shorts. A girl like her needed to be prepared for everything. Flexibility. That was her strongest trait, not just physically of course.

Minerva left her clothes to dry by some stalagmites rising from the cave floor, and pressed on forward. She had no qualms about leaving them there unattended. They were cheap and she could always buy some new ones. With the treasure she’d find in here, the thief would be able to buy hundreds of anything she desired.

The darkness closed in the more she walked deeper into the winding innards of Meteor falls. While most people would find walking blindly into the abyss, Minerva felt most comfortable at night. It had been the only companion she’d had during the worst times in her life. You see, the dark listened, patiently. Never judges a person and keeps secrets safe. Not once had the dark betrayed it. Stars shined brighter in the night, and the most valuable of treasure were always discovered in the deep vowels of the earth. Where they could shine the most.

Droplets echoed into the damp rocky, floor of the cave. There were few spots of light where light broke through crevices, so Minerva didn’t need a flashlight or use a Pokemon with the move flash, though she didn’t have one either. When you spent so much time looking at the world at night time, your eyes got use it.

Unfortunately, there were times when things in the dark were sights that could be left unseen. Minerva’s eyes squinted, trying to focus the blurry image of what appeared to be a Malamar. She could tell by the upside down triangular body and it’s tentacle shaped hair. What she couldn’t tell was the reason why it was crouched. Sounds of ecstasy bounced off the walls, and echo into the darkness.

That… that sounds wrong in all the wrong levels. She thought to herself, slowly backing away before it could notice her. Kinda curious what’s he doing but I feel like I might regret it too.

So she left the Malamar alone in it’s ecstatic bliss and pressed on forward. Hopefully, not all Pokemon were in mating season, even if that mate was themselves.

Minerva sighed. That was the kind of treasure she did not need in her life. Still, she would wait the Malamar to finish his business before going in that direction again, and though the thief could probably beat the mal out of the Malamar, just thinking about her Pokemon making contact with that was insidious.

So she walked back the spot beside the lake where her clothes were drying.

The light glimmering off the water surface greeted her, winking at her to take another dip. Tempting. But she needed to stay focused on task. Nothing else glittered than treasure. She smiled at her reflection, each light adorning her image with diamonds, and sapphires.

Hmm, I look pretty.” She said turning and twisting her bare body, as if she was wearing the prettiest dress in the world. “ No need to be jealous.

Small waves distorted her image in the water. It took her awhile to register that the disturbance in the water was caused by something beneath. Something that was surfacing fast. Minerva curiously stared, entranced by the distortion of her own image. The glittering was no longer there. A mysterious, bulky figure jumped out of the water, reaching an impressive height. It was a Seismitoad, probably on the hunt for a meal. As flattered as Minerva thought to have been chosen to become the oversized frog’s meal, she’d be sad to decline it’s offer to dine.

She somersaulted backwards, grabbing her clothes in the process. They would need space to make this battle eventful, and Minerva wasn’t about to disappoint. A thief never needed to learn how to fight, but that was the difference between a common streetrat and thieves of her caliber. She fought and did it well, but never fought to win, for a thief’s victory lay in their ability to escape, and if possible the prized possession with them. This was no different.

Belphegor.” She declared, throwing a Pokeball up in the air. “It’s time to do some exercise.

The Slaking appeared from a ray of red emanating from the Pokeball. His body was widespread, the cavern floor made of the most comfortable material in the world. She sighed, shaking her head, all the while Belphegor’s snores echoed through the cavern. It was typical of his species to sleep at a time like this.

The Seismitoad, on the other hand, did not waste any time in relaxing like her Pokemon. From the moment that he opened, a large stream of water at compressed levels rushed to sweep the Slaking away. The frog pokemon hoped the trainer would be swept away by his Hydro Pump. The blast of water hit the Slaking and it threw the body into the cave wall, shaking the cave into a tremor.

“Well, that should wake him up.” She commented sarcastically, waving the storm of dust his flight and crash set off. “ Now, to deal with this guy while little Bel picks himself up.”

Minerva wasn’t exactly sure how to deal with the slimy bastard, but she had faith that Bel would come right back. He was just slow… very slow. But she expected that, otherwise he would not be on her team. The Seismitoad attempted to grab her with his extendable tongue. Oh hell no. Minerva jumped to one side, rolled and lay crouched on the floor, ready to evade as if her life depended on it. The frog whipped out his tongue again, and again, she rolled and evaded. None of her current Pokemon aside from Bel would be a match for this freak.

They stood apart from each other, eyes locked, sizing up each other should one of them moved. But they moved at the same time. The Seismitoad threw his tongue forward, but this time, Minerva jumped up. The ground shook, like a series of mini quakes, and out of the shadows, an angry Slaking rushed towards the Seismitoad. He grabbed his slimy extended tongue, wrapped it around his arm, and pulled him forward. The frog flew across the cave and was greeted with a Hammer Arm, which sent it flying back and into the water.

The battle was over in an instant. Minerva sighed and placed Belphegor back into the Pokeball before he fell into the ground, not out of exhaustion, but laziness.

And I guess that’s enough craziness for one day.” Minerva conceded, placing Belphegor’s Pokeball back into the holster of her outfit. “ No treasure… but that only means there’s plenty more tomorrow.

If truth be told, Minerva was a little disappointed she hadn’t found any shining and glittering. Something told her if she wanted to find anything of any value then she’d have to delve much deeper into the vowels of Meteor Falls. She sighed, picking up her clothes. They were dry… most of them. The thought of going back to the villa naked… wasn’t so bad. A cardinal rule for all thieves was to never attract attention. But what kind of thief followed rules? Minerva flaunted herself like a goddamn trophy.

The last cardinal rule of a thief was never to give up. Walking away from Meteor Place didn’t mean she was accepting defeat. She’d have to postpone this little place for later. Minerva looked up at the place from where she had jumped, a hand to shield her eyes from the glare of the light. Quite a height. She thought with a smile, but it soon died with a sigh. Climbing all the way up there would be a bitch though.

Minerva Shinonome was not the frugal type, nor did she take measures to be careful. She was a woman who liked a challenge. But she was also a smart woman. Climbing all the way up just to get to the exit when there was no danger whatsoever was just a bother. The way forward was much easier.

Then she heard it. Voices… sounds of what could only be an argument. They say curiosity killed the cat, but who cared when you had nine lives? Minerva slowly approached the strange sounds, and what she saw made her eyes bulge in surprise and shake her head in denial. In her defense, anyone would want to unsee the scene unfolding before her eyes.

You knew you needed rest when you saw a Malamar and a Turtonator fighting over female underwear. There were a few things you did not mess with in this world and one of them would be this. The TR thief took deep breaths and headed the other direction, her spirit fueled enough to start the climb.
