[attr="class","stone i"]alexander is a man of many talents. dancing, surprisingly, is one of them. he finds himself at a small dancing class taught in rustboro, called in to assist the dance instructor because he owed them a favor. it comes as no surprise that the other dancers are at least in their sixties. this seems to be more of a class for retired folk, which makes sense because the alternative would be doing sports, and that just seems like a bad idea.

"you seem to be getting the hang of it."

alexander is paired up with the only other young person in the room. the main instructor takes things slow for the older folk. for avery, she is stuck as alexander's only student. how (un)lucky.

A simple dancing class was much more relaxed than trying to square off in a self-defense class. Even still, her form is stiff and tense, her steps awkward and slow as she attempts to keep up with and match Alexander's steps. She wears a frustrated blush, her hand tightening in his as she steps on his toes for the hundredth time. She's not looking at him, far too focused on her feet.[break][break]

"Really?"[break][break]

Avery glances up at him, surprise bright on her face as she searches his expression for a lie. If he was, she would feel nauseous immediately, face paling.[break][break]

Her attention soon glances to the rest of their class. She definitely wasn't the only one stepping on toes but, for the most part, the elderly pairs were relaxed and happy. She sheepishly looks back down at her feet just as she steps on his toe again.

[attr="class","stone i"]despite how often she seems to be stepping on his toes, alexander is not lying. she will find only genuineness on his expression, complimented by a smile.

"really," he says right as steps on his toe again, which could've added insult to injury. the expression remains, however. his gaze momentarily shifts to the rest of the class. they seem to be doing an equally good job. "if i may offer one bit of advice..." chuckling, he says:

"try and have fun."

She shifts her weight, sidestepping the moment she feels his foot beneath hers. The girl is thinking too hard, trying to predict where he might lead instead of just relaxing and going with the flow. Chances are, if she didn't think about it, she'd follow his lead without a problem.[break][break]

And that only occurs to her when he speaks, offering her advice with a chuckle. It makes her blush and she feels a sheepish smile creep across her face.[break][break]

"I am having fun-- I'm sorry."[break][break]

Avery sucks in a deep breath to settle her nerves.[break][break]

"I'm Avery, by the way."

the smile he offers is friendly enough. he continues to dance, careful to guide her with his steps. "no need for apologies. i remember being really nervous my first lesson as well." the memory is fond as he briefly reminisces.

the song comes to an end as they conclude their dance. "you are doing better than i was." his eyes glance over to the assistant carrying with them a tray of glasses with red wine in them. some of the elderly take them, no doubt relishing the taste of fruit that comes with wine.

"are you from around here, avery?"

Avery's nervous giggle slips before she has a chance to reel it back. [break][break]

"Oh.. yes, I know who you are, Mr. Stone."[break][break]

She kept up studiously with the council as best she could. She was practically enamored by kim cole-essam and the man's charming way of handling politics. His day trip to improve her fashion sense had also helped sway her affection. Alexander's recent promotion to council alongside her appointed hero had not been missed.[break][break]

Alexander's attempts to reassure her seem to work, as she makes a bigger effort to relax her shoulders and not seem so stiff and uptight. It's just as well that the song ends right as she begins to relax. They break apart and Avery tucks her hands away, embarrassed.[break][break]

"Yes-- yes, I am! I'm from Lilycove city -- well, originally from Fortee, but my grandparents and I moved to Lilycove about a year ago, now."

"ah, both are amazing cities. i love how quaint fortree is. it makes it a good getaway spot sometimes." not that he actually takes those. no time to do such a thing.

music begins to play again, signaling for the class to continue. alexander holds a hand out toward her. "ready?"
