    Chu-e’s story elicited a small amount of laughter from him, warmed by the tale but also amused by the sudden violent twist ending. “I always wished I had an older sibling, someone to look after me like I did for Marina.” Perhaps he wouldn’t have turned out as so much of a disappointment, made something of himself instead of being a criminal and a fugitive. Ultimately it was futile to dwell on what could have been, there was nothing that could change his past, he had to make the best of the destiny he’d given himself.

    “I do miss her, every day.” Leon’s eyes moved from the linoleum back to the face of the underboss, an uncharacteristically sullen look in his eyes. “She’s going to be graduating from school this year, the first Vercetti to do so. I won’t even be able to be there to see her accept the diploma, to see the smile on her face, to see her overcome the adversity of our upbringing.” He squeezed Chu-e Choi ‘s hand a little more firmly, as though it was keeping him steady in this moment, keeping him grounding. “She’s better off without me, though. Who needs a delinquent brother to worry about, right?”

    He’d attempted to pass this off as humor, but only succeeded in letting out an unconvincing chuckle that slowly faded into silence.

    Leon’s eyes flicked towards the monitor as Chu-e Choi ‘s heart rate suddenly increased, feeling the chasm in his stomach grow deeper as he watched them struggle to even remain conscious. “My happiest memory?” An eyebrow raised, only able to understand the request after a moment of contemplation. “Of course, Chu-e.” Leon didn’t often call them by anything other than a pet name, doing so without realizing the significance of the occurrence. “Most of them are superficial, usually involving drugs or alcohol. There is one, though…”

    There was a moment where he was silent, recalling the details of the story before speaking once more. “My mother and father used to fight a lot, usually when he’d been drinking. No one hated it more than my little sister, though. She used to cry for hours whenever they started yelling, only wanting to have a happy and normal family.” A sigh escaped his lips, emotions compounding upon the ones he was already feeling due to Chu-e’s injuries.

    “I remember one day, my father came home after drinking all night. I knew the fight was going to start soon, so I took my sister and we left the house. There was a festival in town, and I had stolen enough money picking pockets to get us both into the grounds. We spent the whole day just eating ice cream, playing carnival games and riding the rides.” A smile crossed his lips, the memory pleasant enough to keep the tears he’d been fighting off before at bay. “She didn’t cry once that day, she smiled the entire time. It was the happiest i’d ever seen her, and probably the happiest i’ve ever been.”

    “Whoa, whoa, whoa.” Leon released his grip on the Absol and raised his hands upwards into the air, gesturing with a nod for the Electivire to do the same. “No one wants to get shot, so let’s just relax, amico.” Civilians weren’t allowed to have firearms in Hoenn, meaning that he’d either broken into the house of someone in law enforcement or… “Hold on a minute.” Leon couldn’t help but burst into laughter as the realization washed over him, lowering his hands to his side as he was suddenly assured he wasn’t in any tangible danger.

    “Conrad? As in priam conrad ?” There was an obviously amused look on his face, glancing towards the man who returned with his Pokeball before turning back to the man with the gun. “I suppose that would make you Bryan Delarosa then, huh?” Leon took a few steps forward, assuming that he wouldn’t be getting shot anytime soon by either of these men. “I’m Leon Vercetti, we work together.” A hand raised to trace the letter ‘R’ in the air with a finger, not wanting to exactly shout the name of their organization, considering anyone could be listening.

    “I can’t believe out of all the places in Ever Grande I could rob, I ended up breaking into your place.” Leon leaned against his Electivire and let out another laugh, crossing his arms over his chest and looking over the body of bryan delarosa . “I must say, if you two are fucking then I am jealous of Mr. Conrad.”

“Oh?” A devious smirk crossed Leon’s lips as their invitation, able to imagine the scenario in his mind already with vivid detail. “No need to convince me, I’ll be there with bells on.” He snickered softly, settling into a more restful position with Chu-e Choi nestled into his body comfortably. “Always happy to help out an Underboss.” His tone was teasing and seductive, though he recognized that the object of his desires was slowly fading into unconsciousness.

It was a strange feeling, wanting to fall asleep next to someone for once, with no promise of a sexual encounter for the night. The only thing keeping him tied to this bed being the company of a person he enjoyed, it was a dangerous feeling but one that he wanted to explore further. “Good night, bellissimo.” Leon presented a final kiss, though this one was placed on the crown of their head. He’d be alone with his thoughts for a while, but sleep would eventually find him, perhaps more peaceful than he’d slept in his entire life.

“Of course, bellissimo.” Scooting his chair closer to their bed, Leon couldn’t help but feel a tugging in his chest at their request. A hand reached out to take Chu-e’s into his own, allowing his fingers to intertwine with theirs before giving a gentle squeeze. “You had me worried, you know.” He smiled softly, attempting to be a comforting presence while they were trapped in this vulnerable state. “But...I’m glad you didn’t die.” Leon tugged at their conjoined hands, pulling them upwards to place a soft kiss on the back of their hand. Normally he would have made some sort of joke or innuendo to distance himself emotionally from the person he was showing affection, but with Chu-e it didn’t feel right, it was...different.

“Do you know who did this to you? I’ll have their throat cut by the end of the night.” His tone was serious, fully prepared to call the small amount of favors he’d gathered within Hoenn to bring vengeance upon whoever had harmed Chu-e Choi . Leon felt strange being so passionate about someone that wasn’t himself, it was entirely foreign and if it wasn’t for the fact that the underboss needed someone here, he might have tried drinking the feeling away.

“Horny enough? Perhaps I stand a chance, after all.” Leon couldn’t help but smirk, leaning down to press his lips gently against their neck, as though proving his point. “Could be fun, being an avatar right?” Despite the obvious sensual nature of the previous action, Leon seemed content simply having Chu-e Choi cuddle up next to him, wasting away the hours of the night talking about whatever came to mind. He’d never done anything like this before and the fact that he found it fulfilling in its own way was confusing, to say the least. “We always depend on Pokemon for our power, I’d love for the chance to have some of my own.” Leon realized he never finished his thought in the middle of his befuddlement, hoping the small amount of crimson on his face could be chalked up to the alcohol. “Imagine, some asshole pulls a gun on you and suddenly they are hit with a thunderbolt that you conjured thanks to Zapdos or something.”

Sentiments that Hoenn was less-than-ideal were not lost on Leon, offering a nod of agreement as he continued to idly caress them. “Elijah thought I actually came to this dumpster fire on purpose. Can you imagine?” A soft chuckle escaped his lips, adjusting position slightly to close even the small distance between them. “I suppose not everything is terrible here, though. Plenty of unsuspecting victims to steal from, a criminal organization to psychologically replace my shitty family and an ass that easily breaks into my top three of all time." He paused, a teasing grin plastered on his lips. "Won’t tell you where, though."

    “Excuse me, do you know where the vending machines are?” Leon asked with a charming smile on his face, waiting until the nurse pointed down one of the hallways to slip the badge right off her person with nimble hands “Grazie, bella.” Visiting hours had ended a few hours ago, but that wasn’t about to stop Leon Vercetti from getting into the intensive care unit tonight. He couldn’t explain the feeling that came over him when he’d found out that Chu-e Choi had been horribly injured on their previous mission, finding them to be more than simple concern and anger at whomever caused the incident. “Get ahold of yourself, Leon.” Waiting until no one was watching, he swiped the badge over the magnetic reader and slipped into the sliding doors before anyone could notice.

    The strange queasy feeling in his stomach only grew as he stepped across the linoleum, the smell of antiseptic and artificial fragrance in the air threatening to choke him as he peered individually into each room through the small window affixed to each door. There were a few tries before he ended up seeing a familiar sight through the glass, swiping the badge once more and letting himself into the room. “Hey there, bellissimo.” Leon gently closed the door behind him, stepping into view of the injured form of his underboss and lover. “Hope you don’t mind that I stopped in.” Confidence waned slightly as the pit grew within him, seeing Chu-e in such horrible condition, obviously in a great deal of pain. “Brought you something.” From behind his back, Leon produced a bouquet of purple flowers with yellow centers, placing them in the empty vase beside his bed.

    “They’re Purple Nightshade. Reminded me of you, beautiful and deadly at the same time. Don’t ask where I got them, and don’t try eating them.” Leon’s smile attempted to lighten the mood, grabbing one of the nearby chairs and lowering himself into it before giving their injured form one more concerned look over. “I’d ask if you are okay, but that seems like a dumb question, no?”

A smile crossed his lips when Leon saw Chu-e Choi stride into the room with purpose, obviously about to chastise the event holder for using the universal announcement system inappropriately. “Oh me?” He took a small drink from the bottle before continuing, his other hand gesturing to the surroundings. “I’m here for the inevitable drama or violence that will come from all this. You know how boring it is on this submarine, bellissimo? Makes me want to die.” Normally he would have taken the opportunity to further flirt with the underboss, but seeing as he was here in a professional capacity, it didn’t seem prudent to undermine his authority by doing so.

“Come on, don’t tell me i’m the only one who is looking forward to it.” Leon could tell he was catching unflattering glares from a few people, including Miles Sharp . “I could get naked too, if you’d prefer.” The comment was directed towards Miles specifically, offering a small wink towards the Rocket before leaning back into a more comfortable position. He knew that he wasn’t doing anything wrong, that was enough for him to keep his cool...at least until glitch maverick mentioned his pores. “What? I have immaculate skin, thank you.” Leon grumbled, reluctantly catching the items as they were thrown at him. There was a moment where he considered throwing them away, but Glitch seemed to work his vanity to their advantage by the mention of wrinkle prevention. “...Fine, i’ll try it.”

There were sounds of shuffling from one of the bedrooms, accompanied by a male voice asking what he construed to be a rather sexual suggestion of whoever else was living on the premises, Leon was practically perpetually horny after all. “Shit.” Leon whispered under his breath, clicking off the flashlight and finding a spot to hide behind the couch. Of course someone would be home, this was just his luck as of late. Killing them wasn’t exactly off the table, should one of them discover his presence in the apartment, though he preferred to avoid compounding his crimes. Perhaps they would be content with discovering it was just one another making noise in the middle of the night, allowing him to slip out without notice.

Growling from the other end of the room essentially brought the end to this ruse immediately, peering over the fabric of the couch to see an Absol staring him down. “Fuck this.” As the Pokemon charged, Leon readied himself and grabbed onto their horn, using the momentum to sling the Absol across the room before it could latch on with its teeth. He reached down to the Pokeballs on his belt and tossed one into the center of the room, unleashing the Electivire contained within. “Come get some, then.”

    “Wasn’t on purpose, carino.” Leon reached into his pocket and produced a pack of cigarettes, offering the container towards Elijah before taking one for himself. “Got ran out of Pasio and ended up here because it was the first ship I could steal a boarding pass onto.” He flicked at the lighter in his hand until it sprung to life, igniting the end of his cigarette to allow a deep inhale of the smoke. “Lucky me, right?” Leon blew the smoke upwards, so that he wouldn’t offend Elijah or his Pokemon inadvertently. “Wasn’t even Rocket before I ended up here, you all were just kind enough to take this in this handsome orphan."

    A smile crossed his lips as they seemed receptive to the idea, offering a slightly exaggerated bow that was in perfect sync with his boisterous personality. “Leon Vercetti, at your service.” Leon took another drag of the cigarette, stepping over so he could lean against a nearby tree. “Plan isn’t too complicated, I’ve already got the contacts worked out. My fence knows a man who works in the medical community, makes referrals of the less-than-legal variety to patients that can’t afford legitimate medical care.” He ashed the cigarette into the dirt once before continuing. “You get desperate clients, kick some money to me, I kick some to my fence and my fence kicks up to him. Easy enough, no?”

Leon strode into the communal bath with a smile on his face, pleased that someone had finally decided to drum up some entertainment in this underwater prison that they called a submarine. He didn’t have a problem with his hygiene, at least not according to Chu-e Choi , instead finding issues in the cleansing habits of some of the people he was forced to spend time with on this tuna can. Really sealed in the smells, and in the entirely worst way. “Today is a good day.” Not only would this problem be addressed by a rather forth-right member of the organization, but Leon would have a front row seat to the whole affair. In a word, it was glorious.

Taking a seat on one of the benches nearby, he crossed one leg over the other and produced a bottle of wine from his belongings. “Perfection.” Popping the cork out, he took a deep drink of the crimson liquid before leaning back against the wall, ready for the unwashed masses to come out in droves. Really, there were far too many of them on this submarine to be considered normal.

“Xerneas only appears to virgins?” Leon admittedly didn’t know much about Legendary Pokemon, outside of the select few that suited his interests, so hearing that one had such a specific stipulation was odd to say the least. “Guess i’ll never meet them, then.” Eyes diverted towards the ceiling for a moment as he did some mental math, before turning back to Chu-e. “I’d have to travel back in time ten years to even stand a chance.” A small chuckle escaped his lips, letting them work out the subtraction, if the Underboss even knew how old he was in the first place.

“So you two are going to summon Xerneas with an army of unwashed virgins, what comes after that? Capture or Kill?” Leon honestly wasn’t sure what the goals of this organization were most of the time, and if they wanted to kill a damned legend then he wouldn’t exactly be surprised, or stand in their way. “I guess there's also becoming one of those avatar things too, right? Not that I really understand how any of that shit works. Seems kinda arbitrary that a Pokemon just picks a person to imbue their power with, what do they get out of it anyways?” It didn’t make sense to him, but maybe it didn’t have to.
