Finally, he was in. In one motion the aerodactyl managed to twist into the third floor funneling a portion of the bug pokemon inside, which by nature of the maneuver kept many out, Thankfully the two managed to slip in not unnoticed, but due to the chaos, the pokemon had unleashed it seemed everyone had bigger problems to deal with, that being the assortment of bug pokemon already in the room not to mention the new friends Miles had brought with him. Most if not all the guild workers were fighting them off with their own pokemon, but they were getting overwhelmed.

Miles didn't feel too good about the status quo but he had a job, the workers would be able to hold their own for a while longer or at least until their reinforcements got here. Viper would duck avoiding a combined string shot from an assortment of wurmple that'd climbed on the walls, before recalling Caelum to his Pokeball.

On him, Miles had rocket-built flash drives, drives that were made to replicate the entirety of hard drives in a matter of minutes. He could care less about whatever else lied on the floor, his priority at the moment was data. Secret bases could be used to house hundreds of displaced refugees if the technology was decidedly used for the good of the public. Rocket may have sought items more tangible, or information more lucrative (which at this pace would certainly be done) But his personal mission came first. And so he was seeking computer labs wherever on the floor they may be.

"Third floor's ripe, Scorpion, drop your location and get me to the computers."

He'd call the woman on the comms, everything was still proceeding as planned, once Serena helped control the floor they'd be ready to scavenge. And hopefully, she moved fast some of the scientists seemed to be onto the man and were preparing something or another, Miles could do without 'something or another' right now.

She looks conflicted and he thinks he may be able to understand, or at the very least he wants to try for all his talking he owes her that, but he also doesn't want to push too hard. Thus he accepts the sprinkle of sadness, in time perhaps he'd be able to affirm her, to share her burdens as she'd begun to do for him, but only on her time. At the moment he can only use the logic he's so proud of to take her mind off it, to ease however he can.

"Well Stormy if nothing else know that regardless of the status quo Lavaridge is and will always be happy to have you and people like you in it. Regardless of the past, you have a place to come back to." He prays his words don't read as hollow, as Lavaridge was a town of rejuvenation and rest, and someone with her morals would always be welcome within its walls and with a smile no less, if no one else he'd have one for her he liked to think. "Of course it goes without saying that it's a personal pleasure to have you around."

For once the timing is perfect as they turn the corner reaching a small one-floor home, not unlike many of the others the town offered. If anything from the outside perspective the backyard seemed to make up for the size of the house as it seemed slightly larger than average housing a small battlefield and a tiny hot spring in an alcove to the side.

"It's no palace, but it's home." He'd lead his date past the doorway and inside careful to avoid the newly blossoming plants on the walkway. The inside of the home was revealed to be a darker walnut-colored home. Directly ahead would be a small kitchen nook connected to the living room. To the right an assortment of three other rooms, most likely a bathroom and two bedrooms. There was no dining room table but in the living room, there was a couch and a coffee table. Bookshelves lined the living room filled with records and books alongside family photos and awards most belonging to Gloria herself, though Miles' doctorate diploma took center stage beside his mother's gym leader acceptance letter. Past the living room and the kitchen was a screen door that led to the backyard. Obelos and the rest of his team could be seen relaxing in the back in particular a Kabuto had scuttled right outside the door content to sunbathe at the entrance to the backyard.

Despite its size the place felt lived in, it's one of the reasons why it was so hard coming back.

"Set your stuff down anywhere, and I apologize for it being so cramped." Miles would glance at the kitchen before moving to the living room himself, prepared to browse through an assortment of old vinyls.

"Any particular genre's you like? Rock, Jazz, Blues?"

"Believe it or not I used to hate the ash."

An odd way to start for sure.

"Most people saw Lavaridge as a town in passing, or just a spot to vacation. Visit hot springs and then return back to their lives that mattered. I saw the ash as part of that 'idea' that town was forgettable because I felt it was. He begins reminiscing lightly on his childhood in the small town. "Most kids myself included were in such a hurry to leave growing up." His feelings are conflicting but he continues regardless, "We...I" he corrects himself, "felt bigger than this, I wanted to be cool. Move to Mauville or Rustboro, and really ' be somebody' whatever that meant." His voice lowers in volume not as much melancholy as it was remorseful "I looked down on those that found their comforts here. I wouldn't waste away like everyone I'd escape to greater things." As he walks he can see shadows of himself in times past, a teenager with no small amount of angst feeling trapped in what was then a birdcage hidden away from the world, "I was a fool."


"But, now I can't get enough of the ash." His free hand reaches out toward a piece feeling it disintegrate in his palm. "You don't realize how much you love something until it's gone I suppose..." His glance falls back to Stormy, a question of his own shortly following, "How about you the Mysterious Stormy. Any place, in particular, you long to see, or rather any home somewhere in the expanse that you miss?"

And he was sweet too? Not his boy, but quite certainly a boy to die for. The rain was a welcome relief with any luck it'd help clear the smoke from his hair. The blond-haired trainer had a point however, if he'd been in the situation a year ago he wouldn't have been able to deal with it, or at least not with such precision, working in team rocket, or perhaps just existing in dangerous situations had been good for him in this sense.

"Not in the slightest." He responds to the man's question as he was in fact the furthest thing from a ranger. "Just a Lavaridge native protecting his home however he can." He nods at his remaining pokemon before returning them to their balls excluding Obelos who of course was on his way transporting the wounded individual.


He follows behind the individual, enhancing his cover story for the fire all the while, the less team rocket was involved in this the better. He can see the lights of the fire department and paramedics just aside as well as his own pokemon completely out of place in the scene it was almost comedic watching obelos attempt to be out of the way while paramedics half his size sidestepped the dragon pokemon.

"Well I suppose it's time for me to deal with that mess." He comments on the situation just ahead, but before moving forward he'd turn to the extremely useful trainer. "But I've yet to get your name sweet talker. You held far better than I did out there and I can't help but feel I owe you one." Realizing he'd forgotten his manners, he'd offer his own, "Miles, by the way."

Blond hair, blue eyes, and a penchant for good timing. "Keep this up and I might swoon." There's a teasing sort of sarcasm when Kazimir Wynter appears on the scene both teams of pokemon beside him. Miles had a fourth pokeball in hand, but it seems there's no need to call out his own solution as the other trainer's feraligatr was more than capable enough to deal with the situation managing to remove the tree with its more than impressive physical acumen.

Miles isn't content to just watch, however helping Kazamir pull the injured trainer from former prison following the feralgatr's display of strength. Miles inspected the hurt trainer his consciousness fading. Despite the completion of his doctorate wasn't a medical doctor by trade and so he could only inspect the man's injuries to a certain extent. Kazamir every the quick mover called forth a fourth pokemon helping deal with the burns across the trainer's body, but the trainer's leg was obviously out of commission for the moment.

"We're going to have to carry him out the way we came." The analyst waves his Tyrantrum over while he speaks. "I circled the forest twice, there's no one else in the Pass to my knowledge. Any updates on the fire department?"

Tyrantrum would lower himself while Miles and hopefully Kazamir helped the man onto the fire-resistant dragon. "Be easy, he's injured."
His final words clearly directed toward that very same dragon.

Early mornings (he found out) was the best time to make it to and through route 117. It'd been his training ground for over two months at this point, and he'd come through at all hours of the day with more than a few sorts of different people. He'd kept track of when the route was busiest (Usually around midday as that was when young trainers found their way passing through the area on their various journeys.) and at its most vacant an hour or two before the sunrise. If he'd appeared any later he'd run into the older hoennites who enjoyed catching the sunrise to start their day. If he managed to live that long he thought he'd enjoy becoming one of those older hikers ruminating on their lives while walking to meet the sunrise, it was a pleasant thought one to be shared with another if he made it that far.

The chances of him making it that far, however, are slim and would be even slimmer if he didn't amass personal strength or at least more of it and so he's chosen to train a number of pokeballs on his belt signifying that. What exactly waits on the route he doesn't know outside of it being a challenge to overcome.

The compliment affirms the analyst and grants a level of confidence that he most assuredly needs. She teases him soon after leading to a playful roll of his eyes, "You and I know that, but I'm sure there are many would beg to differ." In truth another of the primary reasons he'd decided to cook, was due to the fact his pockets were more than relatively light, not to mention his thoughts on capital as a whole. Still, if he were to go another route, he'd want to take her to a place that he felt was worthy of his date, and being unable to do that was an embarrassing point.

She's quick to figure out the implications that his pasta set and a sort of sly smile rests on her features now. What this meant for Miles he didn't know until she responds favorably in a swift move placing her arm in his. Even on his darker-features tints of red here that were minorly noticeable before had grown exponentially so. His brain is barely able to process little other than Stormy's warmth, how it was expected to form coherent sentences he did not know. While serotonin had all but flooded the organ the lack of RAM was concerning.

"Ah, so today she's a comedian. I'm a fan."

He manages to grasp a basic response that'd been pre-logged in the back of his mind, short ironic laughs hiding the fact he'd been lagging in real-time.

He changes the topic while they walk slowly getting accustomed to Stormy's warmth though the red isn't quite able to leave his face.

"So you've lived here a year and seen a lot of what our little hot spring town has to offer, I have to ask as a native" He prefaces the question, "What's your take? Has Lavaridge treated you well?"

The setting sun paints the town in a warm iridescent orange, a beautiful color for their evening stroll.

"No promises." He looks up at the smoke preparing himself mentally to be up there. With any luck, Caelum would break through it with his speed allowing at least a little fresh air into him despite the longshot it was. His focus shifts to his pokemon on the ground. "Follow their lead, I'll be back shortly." The prehistoric pokemon roar in compliance as Miles calls another pokeball releasing the sky-bound aerodactyl from his Pokeball. "Take me up we're searching for anyone caught in the forest." With a final nod to his makeshift partner on the ground the rocket takes for the skies.

Below he can see the blond-headed ranger making quick work with what looked like twice as much water-power as there'd been when he was on the ground. Hopefully more than enough to make a path. He's in the sky for about a minute and a half Aerodactyl changing altitude every so often making sure both he and his trainer received enough fresh air before diving back through the clouds and towards the flames. It's in his second circling of the area that the rocket spots a trainer trapped underneath a fallen tree. How cliche.

The man swears before diving down. Upon landing, there's little relief upon the trapped trainer's face.

"Please, I can't... I can't move my legs." What a surprise.

Despite the thought Miles doesn't respond sarcastically, he knew Aerodactyl could break the tree trunk apart, but without damaging the boy underneath was tricky. "Caelum circle back to Obelos, let the team know where I am. Understood?"

In moments the aerodactyl is gone leaving Miles to deal with the situation for now.

Despite how he feels the man looked true to his name, sharp. Following his cleaning, Miles had enough time to take a light soak and prepare himself physically for the date. He'd chosen to wear a black kurta with an ornate dupatta atop the cloth serving as a shawl of sorts. Donned with red pants and a bit of black eyeshadow winging out toward the edges of his eyelids, the man's look for the evening was complete.

He's moments away from breaking down and shooting the two-paragraph essay that could have been easily summed up in two words ('Help me') to glitch maverick. Thankfully before he can hit send foreign fingers brush his shoulder leaving goosebumps in their wake.

She says 'hey' and the screen goes black. His own hand finds itself combing through his half-braided hair, a nervous tick he'd yet to grow out of.

"It's nice to see you again Stormy. You look stunning." He takes in his date for the first time fully sober, glad that he'd chosen to make himself full and known as opposed to the transient man he could have been that night had he not taken the first step towards permanence.

"So if memory serves, I believe you told me 'heroes' enjoy their fair share of pasta... Does it lose points if it's homemade?" He laughs lightly that tinge of nervousness not fully hidden in his voice.

Good to know someone out there was first cognizant enough to come to the fire and second competent enough to help deal with it. When the cannon comes smothering another pillar of flame Miles' gaze falls on the recently arriving trainer. "A gentleman and a scholar." He muses mustering up half a smile before looking deeper into the Pass flames still peaking further in.

"I'll survive, the trainers who caused the scene have already fled, but I fear a hiker or two may be caught on the other side of the pass. I'll attempt to survey the area from above if you can continue on foot and create a path with our pokemon."

"I believe that's our best option." He doesn't bother with names, there was a job to do and while it feels nice being on the other side of a disaster for once, he doesn't plan to stick around too long following the cavalry's arrival.

As per usual Sharp had his hand in too many cookie jars, metaphorically and literally up until five minutes ago or so where a certain Ms. Maybel became fed up with the indecision of her late friend's son. Soon after sending him on his way with a set of her most popular fresh-baked lava cookies and a pat on the back that was just a little too hard for nervous Lavaridge native. Lava cookies were a staple of the hot springs town, but finding someone who did them right was tough as with any local specialty, thankfully Mable was the best in the biz, knocking one worry off his list.

Thinking on his plan for the evening, it wasn't until a couple of hours ago that his idea of the day was more than slightly out of the norm and more than a little intense for someone he'd just met a week ago regardless of how much they shared in common. Still, it was too late to change his course, he had freshly made ziti warm in an oven not even ten minutes away.

To be fair it seemed like a good idea in a brainstorming session that lasted far longer than he cared to admit, it gave him a reason to visit Lavaridge which the analyst had avoided since the passing, being back allowed Miles to deal with most of if not all the neglected affairs that came with that sort of thing. Thanks largely in part to close neighbors and small payments Miles had managed to maintain the house was in fair order, and with him having spent the day setting up, it'd been reconstituted into a home the deceased would have been proud of. The backyard which once housed a number of the former gym leader's pokemon had been manicured and served as a place for Miles' team to rest while he cleaned. Even the small outdoor bath was once again in order after a few hours of cleaning assisted by both his Kabuto and Carracosta. Not that he planned on making use of it this evening, of course.

The sentimentality Miles generally found best avoiding hit particularly hard today amidst the deep cleaning. But it was done and finally, the man found himself at the meeting point slightly panicked about how 'forward' his date idea seemed on the surface. He had half a mind to text glitch maverick for advice, but he was sure the gym leader while helpful in the moment wouldn't let him live it down in the aftermath.

Still, excitement weighs out the nervousness and he trusts his date's judgment to see the honesty of his intentions.
