This seemed like a simple enough day out. He checked into the sauna, securing a stone room meant for the more daring. Upon paying the entry fee, the receptionist seemed to recognize him from an athletic-wear advertisement. His hair was much shorter back then, but he pretended to recoil and blush as this older woman asked for a selfie. He grew his hair out and became a podcaster since his last public outing, but she didn't seem familiar with his show.

Between the stone room and the reception was a series of lockers with keys, so as to keep everyone's stuff safe from the humidity. Casey was handed a key to his stuff, and then sent into the room. The door handle itself seemed to radiate warmth.

A hand pried the door to the room open. Every surface was a neutral beige wood tone, with the tree rings intact. Casey hadn't even started sweating yet, but the pit of hot stones was blasting him with condensation. "Whoo. Gotdamn! This is a lot."

Casey then sat, carefully folding one leg over the other as he folded his towel, securing it to his waist. The door then creaked open. He felt kind of sorry for whoever had to blast themselves with this heat to oil doorjambs and mop floors. Another young man in a towel arrived, the ambient light behind him being so bright as to obscure his face at first. "Come on in." He said, as if he were at a pool. "...I don't think I caught your name. I'm Casey." XfG0Mp0a

He swallowed the broken down cookie. Between the length of his neck and the tilt of his shoulder muscles, it looked like an elevator descending the Space Needle. He'd already drained his coffee down to the bottom. That sip left, that's not worth digging out with a straw.

A hand sheathed the package of dipped cookies again, upon it being rejected. "I don't work that hard. It's like... fifteen, maybe thirty minutes of work each shoot? It's mostly about nutrition and fitness."

Casey then shrugged his shoulders. He walked with her, drawing closer to a cross-walk. He pushed the button, and waited for the row of commuters to come to a stop. "--I'm sorry. I'm going back for a refill, just so I can pre-game the stair-climber at the gym." Was it an excuse? Either way, the right thing to do would've been just letting her go. "So, what do you do for a living?"

(SAUNA) MORE THAN EVER

The two were almost the same thing. Derek with his all time great championship run, pulled away by family. Casey had a string of great media gigs and podcast appearances because of his family, though he recently took a break from public life and his power waned. Both were muscled but not bulky looking, with long, thick hair.

The sauna had a series of raised platforms and benches, so people didn't pile in like some kind of clown-car. Casey sat on one, feet hanging off like he's on the raised bed in a doctor's office. "...Hey."

No outside food or drink. With the way sweat clung to his face, this could become a problem fast. "I swear, I've seen you before." Could it be the sauna that's cooking his brain? He wasn't that bright to begin with. In fact, Derek could see the gears turn in his head, until he makes a dismissive hand gesture. "...I could just be a little out of it. My bad." eOPWEzJS

Did he look all that sad? In all truth, after ages of being told to watch what he ate and work out constantly, he was enjoying a little break. Finally, his front teeth snapped the thin cookie in half, and he crunched on it for a while.

A hand left the pocket on his lavender basketball shorts, holding the carton of dipped cookies. He pointed the open top to her, as if offering a snack. "I'm fine, actually. I'm a little tired, but that's it."

Casey then held the plastic cup next to his face. "...My bad. I'm not upset or anything, I just smile and stand around in nice clothes for a living." The male model tilted the straw towards himself, and paused to drink. Paused to drink that amber coffee, that looked completely average, for a latte. It's as if you were making a character and put all the sliders in the middle. "I guess you could say... I'm off the clock right now."

Wandering the festival grounds was a comically tall man. He had what appeared to be a little pocky hanging out of his mouth, slowly gnawed on in the way that a frustrated student would a pen. Purple hair like carnations before their red mutation fell around his face, and in this instance blinded him temporarily.

One of his pockets bulged with the carton of dipped cookies, and one of his hands held an iced coffee. He gripped the lid with every finger, pinching it against the cup until his knuckles ran white. He had kind of a long face, and just in general looked like someone put Melody Miro through a washer-dryer set.

A little frog stood next to him, and looked up at her. "Oh... It's over there." He turned, and extended a finger from his iron-tight grip on his condensation-covered drink. He pointed at a row of stores on the opposite side of the street, the one on the corner being a coffee shop. The door was cracked open, and if she drew closer, she'd be able to hear the hum of machinery and hissing of electrically heated water, and smell coffee.

Casey thought for a minute. He downed another 1/5 of the can, and looked back up at Zac. He thought for a second, glancing into the middle distance. "I know, right? There’s way too much going on. There were news reports about Xerneas or whatever, right when I moved across the country.”

Then, Zac brought them back to the reason for being here. Dugtrio circled the ground and opened up with Iron Head. This stunning display brought Dugtrio’s necks all the way up, suddenly clubbing Mantyke like the poles stopping a car from hitting a storefront. It went down, and was recalled with a yellow beam. "Can you make that work? Like... do you still have friends there? ...Good game."

Casey had a weak grin, putting the capsule back in a pocket on his black jorts.

Casey thought for a minute. He downed another 1/5 of the can, and looked back up at Zac. He thought for a second, glancing into the middle distance. "I don’t think I’ve scaled the mountain proper. However, the trail leading East out of Fallarbor includes the ash-covered foothills of the mountain. I... I don’t know if we have Dugtrio like that here."

Then, Zac brought them back to the reason for being here. Dugtrio circled the ground and opened up with Tri Attack, leaving Mantyke with a nasty burn. Aqua ring was now less effective, just barely canceling out the sustained damage. One more hit would surely fell Mantyke. To that end, it retaliated against Dugtrio with Water Pulse. "I’d move there for work if I could... but I couldn’t justify a day-trip to Alola in the past."

Casey had a weak grin, watching the manta ray coast off overhead. The restless mole sat below, finally gaining ground in their tug of war.

Melody vs Casey maverick (HST)

Apparently, the two competitors were fitted with helmets with communicator systems to allow them to dive. A speaker blared Melody's message, as tinny and awkward as any old rock record's production. In fact, he flinched and floated to the top at first.

Unsatisfied, Casey dove below the surface of the water.

"...I think my helmet is already misting up."

Jellicent took the initiative, trying to clip Lanturn using Water Spout. It wouldn't be too effective, but it was better to try it now before it was too injured to really use it. "..."

Casey thought for a minute. He downed another 1/5 of the can, and looked back up at Zac. He smiled, and appreciated him opening up.. "Wow! Lavaridge, huh? That's not too far away. I think our hometowns were on different sides of the same volcano. I also ended up catching a Skarmory while out for a hike as a boy."

Then, Zac brought them back to the reason for being here. Dugtrio circled the ground, and finally pounced. It used Astonish, leading Mantyke to flinch. Aqua ring took effect, healing it for a fraction of the damage. "He's pretty tough. Have you had that Dugtrio for a while?"

Casey had a weak grin, watching the manta ray coast off overhead. The restless mole sat below, trying to feel its way around not being able to use what'd probably be a devastating Earthquake or Dig.

The diving platform caught the sun every so often. Deep blue waves occasionally held a silver light. The heat caused some of the salt in the seat to evaporate, leaving everyone involved smelling of it. Casey stood there in neoprene swim trunks with the tournament logo on the ass, going over the pokeballs in his possession.

"--I’m glad we had time for this."

A yellow beam carried something new into the water. A Jellicent, hovering in the water. Casey hadn’t spent much time with it; he threw pokeballs at the sea like how people skip rocks across the surface of a lake. Casey dove into the water. "..."

Casey thought for a second about Porygon. The little duck, sitting there on standby. He hadn't been privy to any outside stressors as of yet, but if he was, he'd probably wish he was one of those. Just unable to scream. He looked back to Glitch with a weak grin.

"--I don't think I've even seen your apartment. Mossdeep is just east of Lilycove, right? That's where I set up camp."

Lilycove is where the media infrastructure is on the east coast. Like Slateport, with more volcanic activity. It was also, conveniently, north of where Melody is. "Either way, it shouldn't take me too long to commute there. Just know that the offer goes the other way. You're always welcome on my side of the eastern sea board."

He then turned aside, using his elbows to prop himself up. He tried to look at Evette, but he ended up squinting a little. Time passed by, and the sun moved just enough that he made a weird face. He gave up and rolled over to shield his face.

Casey tried speaking to cut the tension, yet again. "That's interesting. I didn't know they had Lapras over there. Was it your main mode of transportation? That Skarmory that you saw earlier... we have those in my hometown, on the opposite side of this country."

It seemed like stalling. It was then cut off. On yet another rocky outcropping flanking the sea, this incredibly out of place thing sat there. It looked sickeningly sweet in a way that churned his stomach, and it was clearly ill-suited to even the sea-salt vapored air. Casey threw a quick-ball at it, to give the poor thing shelter. "That's interesting. What did you do in Alola?"

Casey finished his drink. He tucked the bottle under one arm like a football player. He had plans on recycling it, but the bin was too far away. He'd have to break away for a moment to pitch it, but Glitch started talking again.

"I'd love to help. I ended up talking to Melody again recently. I'm sure she'd appreciate you reaching out to her. And if she's too busy with work... there's always basil belmont ."

Casey held back something of a devilish grin. Drafting their youngest cousin into this. It'd be the same kind of growing pain into modeling that DANNY HALL had. Basil was a bright kid. Good with computers. Better than Casey, in fact. "Do you have a date in mind? I'd love to put this into my phone's calendar."
