danny already knew the consequences of his actions; he had just been waiting for them to catch up to him.

he's silent through all of it, through all the words that come his way, because what is there to say to them? he knows he fucked up. this is his mistake and it's his to experience alone.

the gravity of the situation weighs heavy on his shoulders.

by the end, he sighs, looking away.

"i'll be fine."

whatever punishment will come his way, he can take it. he must.

a thought lingers in the back of his mind, driving him to say:

"and i don't need you to protect me. tell your mentor what you have to."

"i kinda told him i was joining rocket. it was stupid of me to and it was a mistake, but i just wanted to be honest with him because he's my friend."

the pain in his jaw stings, honestly, and he's thankful to receive the LIFE DEW from serena's gardevoir. he smiles up at the psychic-type, nodding in gratitude.

with a sigh, he moves over to the bar to order a few drinks, downing them one after the other as if it'd help quell the guilt that swirls inside of him. he hates feeling like this.

his response is short as he whispers it, finding comfort in her touch as he stands back up.

because, honestly, danny deserves this.
