so he jogs up to her with a worried expression on his face.

[attr="class","danny"]practically no sunlight whatsover, but danny's not complaining, though that's only because he feels like he can't just yet. he's still too new...he can't take the risk.

still getting used to his schedule, he almost forgets that tonight is his turn to patrol the area. so he comes running down the corridor, almost late but not quite.

"sorry! sorry. i got a bit lost."

it takes a moment to recognize the other but when he does, he's raising a finger to point in surprise.

"oh i know you!"

[attr="class","danny"]danny manages to sneak to the back. as soon as he's there, he exhales, though it does little to relieve both tension and nerves that rest upon his shoulders.

they don't have much time, so danny flips the purse open and out comes the klefki. it floats up, confused for a moment before realization strikes him.

"right. the safe. this way...i think."

he stumbles along before coming across a large safe. he's watched enough movies to know there may be alarms attached to it, so he hangs back and allows klefki to get to work.

not long after that, it clicks open, and danny's quick to rummage its contents out and into the purse.

"good job, klefki!"

he recalls it, then heads back out.

[attr="class","danny"]anxieties grow with every passing second, adding to the tension that weighs on his shoulders. he does his best not to nervously look around, to assess the situation, but he's new, inexperienced, and he's bound to fuck up.

thankfully, he doesn't, at least not yet.

"of course, love."

taking her purse from her, danny waits a few more moments before eyeing the security guard and manager as they walk out from the back.

slowly, as naturally as he could muster at the moment, he starts taking small steps in the direction of the back, hoping she could make enough of a distraction for him to slip away.

the smarter thing — besides not joining rocket in the first place — would've been to turn her away, to truly experience the nature of rocket for what it is without the added influence of her presence.

but danny's scared and anxious and clearly in over his head.

everywhere he looks on the sub reminds him of one simple fact: he doesn't belong here.

so tonight, even if it's just for one night, he'll allow himself to be selfish.

[attr="class","danny"]after clearing the wet part, danny's faced with a different problem of one of the npc trainers wanting to overtake him...using dirty methods.

thankfully, grimmsnarl leaps forward to take the FIRE BLAST from a houndoom before returning a POWER-UP PUNCH to the fire-type, sending it into the water.

"thanks, grimster!"

danny and grimmsnarl continue along the obstacle course. for some reason, it's wet, perhaps this is the next obstacle?

"let's slow down a bit here!"

they carefully make their way through this part, careful not to slip.

[attr="class","danny"]danny definitely picked the right pokemon for this strength course. they pass through the first barrier with ease, but the second one soon approaches and this one looks much thicker.

"harder this time, grimster!"

no more POWER-UP PUNCH but rather a HAMMER ARM that swings through, breaking the barrier into half.

"nice!"

danny takes off into a sprint alongside his grimmsnarl, who immediately leaps ahead to throw a POWER-UP PUNCH into the first barrier. they break through easily.

with grimmsnarl CONFUSED, fighting becomes much more difficult. there's nothing the fairy-type can do against the barrage of SEED BOMBS that singe his fur. he snarls, attempting to fight back with a HAMMER ARM that swings wildly.
