gripping her knife tightly, she saws the sharp edge through the spider web, wrestling them out of it. fluffy rapidly gains on the ariados, weaving in and out between each zap henry sends forward to jab at the creature. her claws take large swipes at them, eliciting squeals of pain.

the writhing slows until it succumbs, falling flat on the ground. fluffy stalks it like a vulture.

the spider web snags her down briefly, but fluffy's thrashing lets her snake her head out, another burst of dragonbreath singeing through the web with ease. it illuminates the dark shadows, the crimson body of the male now visible.

"easy! we don't want to burn the whole place down," she warns the archeops, all the while trying to untangle themselves from the remaining web with her utility knife.

"if there are eggs? there's a high likelihood not," she notes, examining the ariados' size and comparing it to their notes. "this one was likely the female, watching her brood." which means...

she doesn't have time to finish the rest of the logic and connect the dots. the sound of clicking fills the air, another shadow looming.

she lets the silence hang between them briefly to catch their breath. fluffy beats her wings forcefully, bringing herself to land squarely and perch on her shoulders with a chirp that sounds more like a croak.

she adjusts her posture to accommodate the weight of her massive fossil bird, eyeing the eggs clustered in this cramped area. "let's clear it out," she instructs, "some tarp and rope to put it all together. we should be able to do a bit of relocation."

fluffy scuttles along the ceiling, flurry of white pins chasing after her. she launches herself off, putting all her weight against the creature's back and sinking her razor sharp teeth against the back of its neck. the ariados flails its four appendages wildly, screeching in pain. her talons are next, keeping the spider from bucking her off.

the collective weight of both of them sends it hurtling to the ground. fluffy lifts off, just in time for nat to turn to darren. "now, finish it!"

once holding dominion over the skies, the archeops stalks its foe cautiously, claws digging into the wooden beams overhead. she watches nat for her signal.

"steady," she watches for the ariados' movement. as it poises to lunge and strike, she shouts, "now!"

fluffy's jaws split open, a bolt of electric blue flames wreathing the creature in a dragonbreath.

bubbles lets out a gurgling laugh at their antics, before hopping her way over to nat's side. "he's speaking a little more. still a little shy around strangers though. always a handful, not nearly as much as albert over there, though," she smirks.

the flashlight pans across the apartment before a flash of red snatches her attention. "we've got company," she warns, switching up her roster and returning her poliwhirl. "fluffy!"

comical name aside, the archeops answers the call with a high pitched screech, mirroring the chittering of the ariados staring them down viciously, protective over its clutch.

the webs snag and snare as their combined power knocks them loose. nat reaches for her flashlight, its beam piercing through the dimly lit apartment for the presence of actual pokemon.

she motions for them to keep moving, boots stepping over the fallen web as she keeps her eyes trained forward.

this is natalie!! she's been a long time ranger working in hoenn for several years now since she moved from the unova region after marriage. she's got a cute kid and she loves her fossil bird. she gets deployed all around hoenn for work, though she personally likes sticking around the safari zone when she can.

good vibes only. she's as nice as she can be usually, as long as you don't mess around with her pokemon or her son, both of which she's fiercely protective of. she leads a small squad of her own (so does her husband, who also does ranger work). she's not available, sorry fellas, but if you treat her little boy well, she's an open and trusting face. perhaps too trusting at times. don't piss her off - hell hath no fury like a mother scorned.
