Taking the bottle in hand, Zahra cracks it open with ease, taking a lengthy drink as she indulges in the chilling sensation slipping over her tongue. "Thanks, Matias. Really needed that after herding all those kids on the beach. Come to think of it... You never got patrolling duties for this event, did you?"

With the water bowl placed before him, Ollie feels as if he's seen an image of an angel, excitedly lapping up the water without care for whoever may be caught in the splash zone.

She misses the chill of Snowbelle, the cold winds that kiss her skin as she wanders the snow-covered streets with just a jacket to keep her warm. Ever since she's come to Hoenn, it's been endless days of harsh sunlight and sunburns, a real tragedy especially considering that cold weather only has terrible rain to accompany it.

"I'd appreciate it." She hums, watching as her Absol hides in the shade and pants. "Could probably do with some cold water for Ollie too."

It's a curse, how the sea breeze that blows in isn't strong enough, only providing even more heat when humans seek respite. Running her fingers through her hair, Zahra can't help but wonder if she should cut it.

Well, as sorry as one can get in a situation as ridiculous as this.

Interlocking her fingers, Zahra stops to give Ollie a boost over a rock wall, grabbing onto the ledge and pulling herself up. Even if she doesn't wish to exert herself, she at least needs to show that she's capable of being a ranger, lest the supervisors kick her ass at a later date.

A child raised by the sea? And one that seems to regret saying it. In a sense, Zahra can understand what he's feeling; Mentioning her surname or her city of origin always seems to be a gamble with people. If she runs into anyone that recognises her, she's more than likely going to be pestered about the family business that she has no hand in.

But she also senses that his hesitation is due to reasons more... peculiar.

"Ah, lovely place. Wish I could have been there more often." Secrets are to be kept as secrets for as long as the holder wishes, so she doesn't quite pry into it. Ollie is way more invested in getting to run about, attempting to grasp a glimpse of the Future and the obstacles they'll face ahead. Laughing at his enthusiasm, Zahra readies herself, starting off with a light jog as soon as the whistle is blown.

It's a joy to be relieved of patrol duties, to finally get a chance to enjoy the tournament for what it is and soak in the atmosphere. Alas, expectations are often a far cry from reality and she struggles to grasp that very fact.

Her introduction is as brisk as it is rough, a mild air of disinterest entangled in her presence as she eyes her opponent. It takes her a sheer ton of willpower just to restrain herself from jabbing the man in the side, settling for swatting the hand away as she whines.

"I spent hours trying to comb my hair." Pouting as she pats down the messy strands, Zahra can't help but sigh at the way he simply brushes her concern off. "Being through worse doesn't give you a free ticket to go all willy nilly and leap at danger. I could sweep you right off your feet and you'd probably struggle to get up for the next few hours, you half-baked noodle."

Ah, but his questions really hits where it hurts the most, a sigh drawn from her lips as she gives him a shrug.

"If only people could be responsible adults and stay out of trouble. I wanted to enjoy the festivities too but here we are, stuck on patrol duty."

Ollie barks in weary agreement, seemingly appearing out of nowhere after circling the plaza for any signs of disruptive activities. It's been a long day, stopping people in the midst of fistfights, participating in a few battles and even making a loose promise to meet with CIAN MAHER after hours. The hours seem to drag and the day just doesn't seem to end.

Distracted by his trainer's interactions, Ollie yelps as plumes of fire scorch his fur. The fate he's foreseen occurs at that very moment, a mysterious force hitting the Ninetales. And the Absol takes his chance to close the gap, swatting at her to Knock it Off.
