Garbage Baby doesn’t even hesitate. As soon as he sees Casey’s outstretched hand, he opened his jaw, tongue lolling out, and gives it a good licking. His oversized tail wagged lazily behind him as he then gently headbutted the hand for pats, and eventually tummy rubs if this guy was good. Lana blinked, smiling politely but not quite following. “Y-Yeah…?” Garbage Baby was kind of a…well…not good at battling. He was independent enough to get up to things while Lana was busy, even going so far as to scavenge food FOR him sometimes. He was also pretty lazy, option to run away form conflict instead of confronting it head on. Cowardly, sure, but who wanted to get bruised over some cold strips of bacon inside a plastic bag?

“Oh- I-I uh…I didn’t k-know…all my p-pokemon just…show up to b-be honest.” It was a little weird how he could attract ghosts, but they had never really hurt him. To his knowledge anyway. Most lost interest after a while or after playing with them. The few he’d caught were ones that had followed him for miles. “B-But…I guess you’re r-right. He’s been w-with me for y-years…” at that he let out a little laugh, with Garbage Baby letting out a quick bark as he looked over at his trainer before back at Casey expectantly. “What…about y-you? “I-..N-Not you specifically!” Lana countered desperately, his feet feeling numb as Mike the Dusclops kept him upright. He squeezed his eyes shut as Elliot moved in closer and saw the fist raising. He didn’t remember the last time he’d been punched in the face, but it had been a mugging too. Except, Lana had been victim instead. The tightness of his eyelids was enough to squeeze out a few stray tears and it seemed like the ghosts beside him grew more agitated. But when no punch came, and no pain shot out of his face he carefully opened his eyes again. Mikey had let go of him, though remained ready to help pick him up once more. [break][break]

He hadn’t gotten hit, and he almost wanted to know why. But he preferred to avoid the pain if he cold. Elliott had changed his mind, what a gift. Mercy. While the squad seemed to back off, they’re still alert and watching as Lana’s pushed into the dirty brick wall behind him. He let out a small yelp as he smacked against it, trembling at the absence of immediate pain. That didn’t sound any better. And with Elliot cornering him like this, it kinda felt imminent. Lana sniffled, confused as the blonde instead of striking him, just insulted him. He looked at the ground and the ghosts seemed to deflate a little bit. Most had just followed Lana long enough for him to consider capturing them. Oh yeah, they weren’t well trained, but he wasn’t a professional thief either. He was supposed to be a coordinator after all. Lana awkwardly grabbed the hem of his raggedy shirt, gripping it for a distraction. “I-I…I o-only had…69 cents….and its not enough to get my dollar chicken nuggies…” This statement was immediately punctuated buy a long, loud churning growl form his stomach and Lana immediately flinched glancing at Elliott in shame before looking away.

The chaos is not lost on Lana, though he’s glad its mostly sequestered away from them at the very least. Mikey had disappeared though. He hoped the Dusclops was alright. There's one pro to all this, at least there was less of an audience should sparks continue to fly between Victor and Elliot. Blood immediately began rising to the surface in response to newly found heat form Victor’s hand. His tone was calm, but looking up at the gambler, he seemed a little more intense than usual. Definitely not happy. He began to fidget, pulling away after nodding in agreement with him. It wasn’t like he had any grounds to object. “O-Of course.” [break][break]


He was uncomfortable at the idea. He couldn’t talk seriously with Elliott with Victor around, but he seemed bent on watching the blond. Lana flushed crimson at the moniker, unable to argue against it but unwilling to explain the situation further should Elliott feel particularly petty in that moment. Though, maybe he was worrying too much. After all Victor and Elliott couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. He ran a hand through his hair, inhaling through his nose to stay calm as the nerves made his hands shake. “I- well I um-…” he stuttered unsure what was the solution here. “I don’t think t-there’d be a problem with it i-if you’re busy for the moment.” He said turning to look back at Victor. His attention moved back to Elliot, a frown setting deeply in his features as he tried to quietly, plead with the boy to stop antagonizing the man any more than he already had. As Elliott brought it back to him and Victor he added, “I-I think that was more of a p-private conversation, Elliott.” He said quickly. [break][break]


Right on cue, before Lana could stumble over his own words again, Mikey the Dusclops brought in the food. His long journey over and he had more than enough for the trio should they so desire. “Mike!” Lana practically cheered happy to see a distraction. As he said their name, the Dusclops immediately shoved a marbled bonbon into his mouth, urging him to eat.

Lana wouldn’t pretend he had complete grasp of polite conversation and manners, but the way Victor brushed off alleged friend Elliot seemed to be a little harsh. Though he did little to protest the act other than looking up at Victor with wide eyes, attempting to think of something to assure the man that Elliott was definitely his friend and definitely not a bother. His eyebrows knit together as he frowned a little awkward about the offer before remembering that’s literally what his job was. “I-It was before we had c-contact at t-the casino…” he tried to explain. He then turned his gaze to Elliot, a little startled as he noted he was getting a bit irritated. Not a scene, not a scene! He’d blow away like dust if they caused a scene. Though, Victor hardly seemed the type…Elliott on the other hand. He began to grow pale as the blond grazed right on the truth without slicing into it. Whatever bit of distance he'd moved to confront Elliott was closed as Victor pulled him back to his side. Any courage he'd mustered up to shoo away the blonde, was quickly crushed. "I-..um...no-" he began, averting his gaze from his companion as he racked his brain for a way to explain this away, unaware the man had been minding his own business for the most part.

Their victim was clearly riled up, but then again anyone would be in this situation. That's why he’d hoped they’d steal from a department store or a bank. Something that didn’t have a face he could care about. “Um...uh- well- I um…” Lana could barely hold it together during a normal conversation. A conversation where someone was screaming at him??? And he was definitely in the wrong??? His brain couldn’t put together the words fast enough. He had no practice with this kind of thing. He just wanted to run but even that he couldn’t do well. He stepped back, hoping Elliott would catch himself. He didn’t. The boy began making his way around the rocket, gesturing at his ghosts to make a break for it, but the blonde bounced back quickly. Lana only had the time to take a few steps forward, naively turning back before his shirt was caught and he felt himself at the mercy of the pickpocket. He did the only thing he could do. Apologize. “S-S-Sorry! I- I didn’t mean it-” he began, wheezing as the panic really set in. [break][break]

The triad of ghosts behind him buzzed around angrily , quickly circling the pair as if they were about to put bets on which twink would beat the other. Odds were 8 to 1 in Elliott;s favor. “I-I-I-I- j-just-!” Lana’s eyes begin to glaze over with tears and he’s clearly doing his best to hold them back. Still, as he tried to pull himself away and stay upright, something in his knees sort of buckled and his vision swam. [break][break]

In an instant Elliott’s grip is the only thing really holding him upright as Lana sees black for a moment, before he feels his Dusclops yank him upwards by the back of his shirt. His footsteps are unsteady, but he managed to stand up on his own, though his Pokemon doesn’t let go. He doesn’t even realize what’s happened, simply that he felt weaker and quickly goes back to his last memory. “It wasn’t l-l-like I meant it to b-be you!”

The fear he feels is unfamiliar, jarring. The pain that strikes through him is coarse, sudden, and filled with betrayal as the one thing he never thought would ever turn on him finally do. But there’s a sickness, a delusion to all these ghosts who’s miasma threatens to choke him out. Amongst the shadows and the ominous figures and shapes of dark creatures, there’s also the eerie sound of jeering, as familiar voices coalesce and mock him. The voice of his mother, who’s love for him went as far as his birth could validate her life as a mistress, rang out with awful laughter. The loud yelling of his father acted as a base amongst the noise. And @skye who’s controlled, furious words act as a weird melody of deprecation and disdain. It all joins together into a depressing cacophony that he can’t escape from. And it all served to break him down, erode him until the will to hang onto his own soul almost disappeared. Amongst the pain there is a small relief as he felt his senses dull and his eyelids flutter shut. And then a different voice rings through, and light quite literally slices through his darkness. [break][break]

The mention of his name missing that sarcastic tone, or exasperation makes him start. He shakes off that drowsiness and looks up bewildered for a moment, tear stained face unable to hide shock and awe. This didn’t happen. This never happened. He felt that tightness in his throat again, but it's from the tears welling up in his eyes. There’s no hesitation as he slaps Cillian’s hand and grips it as tightly as this nightmare would allow him to. [break][break]

They are not friends, but he knows his savior’s name. “Cillian! I’m glad you’re here!!” Emotion wells up in his chest, an all too familiar sight. Lana has never been one good at hiding or holding back his own emotions. “I’m so glad…” he repeated, holding back sobs of relief as he pulled himself to his feet and wipes his eyes. [break][break]

His n-name is Garbage Baby.” There’s a long pause as the linoone barked at the sound of his name. “I-I’m Lana.” the trainer added, introducing himself.

His immediate instinct is to gorge himself but that might prove to be difficult with the white silks and mess of accessories on his outfit. He felt a twinge of irritation at the realization, huffing softly before he felt the invisible hand of a large ghost grab onto his shoulders. “Hey...can you grab me some napkins and...I dunno food, please?” he murmured tilting his head to the side to speak with the Dusclops as it appeared from the ether, sole eye moving around erratically before setting his sights on some intricate decorated cake pops. The ghost disappeared, moving to acquire what his trainer asked for before Lana doubled over in hunger. [break][break]

He fidgeted a bit, not entirely confident in his dancing skills. He deliberated making up an excuse to avoid it, but part of him suspected all his nice clothes and prep time had been made so he could be shown off. He was getting paid to be arm candy, right? [break][break]

And then as he avoided looking at the dancers below and the irritating constant changes in music, his grip on Victor’s arm tightened as he heard something a little alarming. Ruslan Skye is from a shitty little town, with a shitty little family, that had a shitty little life. To say that never, in his wildest dreams, ever pictured himself entering such an extravagant party. He didn’t even think he had the desire to attend. Not out of insecurity, although that was hitting in fucking waves as he stepped through in new clothes, and new hair. He simply…has never wanted something so extravagant. He would’ve wished for something like a friend, or a Gameboy, or even a pizza party but he was the only one in attendance and he got to eat all the pizza himself. The décor, the people, Dr’ Holo’s weirdly ominous introduction to the festivities… he couldn’t care for it.[break][break]

That’s what he’d said the other day when victor evans had invited him to go. He hadn’t wanted to say no. His feelings weren’t strong on the matter. So, he’d gone along with it, gone to suit fittings, and boutiques and even a salon all to get ready for this night. He’s still unsure what to expect. He couldn’t even dance after all. Ripped clothes, grubby fingernails, the smell of garbage vaguely following him thanks to Garbage Baby’s diet of fresh trash. “Silk…d-does that make a difference from cotton?” He was pretty sure everything in the Pokemon Center was polyester. His sheets form home had been cotton. “Mmm…what if- if not having a routine is m-my routine?” he asked, the lilt in his voice denoting he was simply being difficult because he could.
