it's not often that he gets family visiting, let alone his precious twin. father had visited on more than one occassion, but the interaction had been brief and caden had always felt a little dirty afterwards, like it was a part of a conjugal visit.

[break][break] at the joke, caden snorts. "don't bother. caden's just fine."

[break][break] he walks over to his brother, handing him a can of coffee that he's gotten from the local vending machine. pulling out a chair for him to sit, he looks at his twin curiously.

[break][break] "yeah, no shit. it's always a busy day. you wouldn't believe how many notes i have to write." a pause. for some reason, as enjoyable as this banter is, caden feels like this isn't the reason for his brother's visit.

[break][break] he frowns.

[break][break] "what's up? ... are you injured?"

[break][break] though he is normally fairly nonchalant when dealing with his twin, this time his gaze turns sharply as he observes him for any injuries. he knew that being a gym leader was no easy task, and surely if it was a rocket mission and serious enough, he would've ended up in rocket's med bay.

[break][break] after all, father was pretty strict on making sure his sons didn't go walking around with any grievous injuries. it was bad for publicity. but cian had always been the more defiant one between the two of them.

he knows that CIAN MAHER is probably upset with him for following in their father's footsteps, but what his brother doesn't know is that his choices are as much as his father's as his own. as upset as he may still be with their patriarch for holding information, caden is still his father's son, at the the end of the day.

[break][break] hearing his brother curse, caden glances quickly to him. he's not sure exactly what caused his brother's distress -- as far as he's concerned, the entire process is rudimentary.

[break][break] "i don't understand why they even let kids in," he mutters under his breath as Eris Halla is called from the meeting space. how did she even get in? there should be a height requirement to meetings like this.

[break][break] caden is about to have his pokemon join his brother's to littleroot, only when his mentor Lulu Flint speaks up. well - he can't look like the contrarian can he?

[break][break] with a nod, he gestures for his munna to float over to the MOSSDEEP grunt.

[break][break] "i would have to disagree dr. pryde," he speaks up, nodding towards Raphael Pryde. his lips twist into a sinister grin. "passion and desire can always be fabricated."

[break][break] as the conversation picks up, voices from others tilting into higher pitched arguments, caden's gaze can't help but be fixed on his mentor Lulu Flint . as head scientist, surely has more than enough sway in the organization. his eyes flicker quickly over to giada morgan when she speaks up - brow arching as he recognizes her. huh. so she was a rocket too, after all.

[break][break] "i volunteer myself for the mining team," he says, then turns to Alexandra Briarwood . "but you bring up a fair point. when are we mining the meteor exactly? i have no doubt that there are security measures in place — " his gaze flicks over to Lulu Flint " — but i speak for everyone when i say i have no wish to see an uptick of people in the med clinic with severe burns from being burned alive by it."
