Jessica laughed, shrugging. "So? Some of my gals have brought their children into the club and let them chill in the back. Sometimes you can't afford a sitter. That's just the facts."

She put her hands on her hips, tilting her head to the side. "It's not like I'm going to give you drugs and alcohol. I'm not that bad."

Waving her hand, Jessie started walking to the back of the club where she usually entered.

"Just stick with me. You won't have an issue one bit."

When Uriah seemed to realize what exactly was going on and simultaneously told her to go outside, Jessica did exactly what she was told.

But not without a tantrum on the way out, only notched down a few decibels because she was covering her mouth with her hand.

"You mean you didn't believe me? I swear, you're going to be the next corpse here, Uri!" she shouted back at him, leaning against the front wall of the warehouse as soon as she got outside.

She sighed, her hand dropping to her side.

Jessica pouted, sighing dramatically as she propped her head on her hands and leaned forward against the bar. She dragged her fingers around in a few patterns on the woodgrain, her toe kicking the space in front of her.

Her attention was pulled away from her pouting when the colorful shot rested in front of her. "Hmm?"

Looking up, Jessie caught virgil roach wink at her before speaking her name. She offered a grin and a chuckled, looking over the shot in front of her.

"Why are you working back there, Roach? And what's in this drink?" Jessica asked as she pulled out her phone, taking a picture of it for keepsakes.

"Come join me?"

Jessica gave him a look of disbelief as he got behind her and started to push her toward the warehouse again. Where the freaking dead body was.

Was he serious?

He wanted her to go back in there?

"Why do I have to go back? Wait, I can't do it-" It was too late, since they were already through the doors again. Jessie gave a small gasp and scooted to hide behind her brother when the body came into view.

"I'm gonna barf."

Jessie threw her hands into the air, an exasperated noise leaving her mouth as she stared at him with an incredulous look on her face.

"You are the cops, Uri! Who else would I call?" she exclaimed.

She practically slapped her palm against her face, sighing loudly. What an idiot. She should have just left the body and pretended nothing happened. What a fool.

"Didn't I just tell you that? Are you going to check it out or what?" Jessica asked, holding her arms close to her body.

The "uh" she heard in the middle of the sentence wasn't very convincing. But, Jessica wouldn't poke and prod, because she hated it was her family did that to her.

Why do it to Yrsa? She was probably just living her best life.

"Well, I'd definitely say you found yourself in a really interesting part of the lower district." She looked around and then back to her phone.

Shit, she was going to be late soon.

"Oh, I was heading to work. I'm working at that club tonight," Jessie, pointing past her to one of the fancier clubs not yet open to the public.

"It's getting kinda dark. You wanna come with?"

"You idiot. Check your caller ID next time!" she practically shouted into the phone instead of answering the question, stomping her foot on the ground in frustration.

"Hurry up!"

Jeez, she had the heebiejeebies now. Crossing her arms over her chest as if that would protect her from what she saw, Jessica looked around with an uncomfortable look on her face as she waited for her brother to show up.

When she spotted his flaming hair, she felt some of her tension melt away. "Took you long enough."

Jessie put her hands on her hips, tilting them to the side. "I got off work like an hour ago. I wasn't partying." Okay, maybe a little.

"There's something in there. A body. It's, like, totally disgusting."

Free days could be really boring. Jessica woke up at four in the afternoon, scrolled through her Instagram feed, and found nothing of interest. Then she laid on her back on her bed considering her options until the evening time.

When she made up her mind, she made she was all dolled up and cute before going out of her apartment.

Her target for the night was a specific bar that she had performed at before, but of course, she wasn't working. Tonight, it was about seeing her friend, maybe enjoy a drink or two.

Jessie slipped in, her heels clicking on the floor before she slipped into a bar stool. Taking a deep breath in, she called out.

"Rooooach! Roachy! Where are you?" She tapped her nails against the bar, kicking her feet in the air like a child. "Roach!"

Jessica left her apartment with a cute duffle bag thrown over her shoulder as she descended the stairs quickly in her sneakers. In that bag was her outfits for the night, each one cuter and more revealing than the next, along with plenty of her own makeup and hairclips.

Time for work.

Her pink hair hung high in a ponytail on the top of her head as she made her way to the club she needed to be at tonight. It wasn't quite crowded with people yet, so she was able to make it toward the lower district rather quickly.

On her way to the club, Jessie was scrolling through her phone, occasionally looking up to make sure she didn't run into anyone. But at one of the instances she looked up, she saw someone familiar.

"Yrsa? Hey, homie! What are you doing out here?" she said cheerfully, waving her hand excitedly.

Well, when she joined Rocket, she didn't expect she'd be put to work so quickly. Honestly? It was kind of annoying. Did they not expect her to have some sort of life outside of work, on her days off?

Ugh, whatever. At least they were paying her.

Jessica held her phone in her hands outside Lilycove's department store, her lips pursed as she watched a few jewelry heist scenes from different movies to get a feel for what she should do.

What? She had never robbed a jewelry store before.

"I got this. Simple enough, right? They wouldn't have sent me if I couldn't do it," she convinced herself, looking around for a rock or something heavy to throw through the window.

It was the wee hours of the morning, after Jessica and her group of girls had finished their night of go go dancing and running between club-goers, trying to seduce them into spending more money and gaining a profit. This particular night, they did really well with their tips, stacks of cash dished out between them.

That called for a celebratory morning-time drinking party, right?

So, they went to the abandoned warehouses, where they knew they could be at peace for a little while, laughing and talking about what their plans were going to be on their night off. Until one of the leaned against something and slipped.

The cover on top of it came along with her, revealing a body.

Everyone screamed, and all the girls ran, Jessica included. She stayed outside the warehouse though, looking back and forth, unsure of what to do.

Well... she did one thing. Called Uriah.

"Uri! Uri, wake up, come to the districts to the abandoned warehouses right now! I swear, if you don't get here, I'm going to-"
