not personally, of course. if he knew personally, there'd be more white hairs grown on his head. it's funny how two overworked people have come to know each other, especially when schedules sometimes wouldn't align, and meetings were coincidental. "don't get me started.." well, she had already started for her nursing degree a few years ago, and all that's left was to finish it that year "i still have practical exams, soon." she sighs. "your point?" she asks, narrowing her eyes as she takes another swing of her (very sweetened) coffee. one eye visibly narrows from between parted bangs, and a sigh escapes from her lips "old habits die hard." though she loathes to admit it, and it's much to her chagrin. she watches, silently, as he moves behind the bench, then she lets out another soft sigh as she leans her back against the rest. [break][break]

her attention falls onto the little pokemon who so hurriedly follow and, after a moment or two of contemplation, she pulls out three pokeballs to have them join the little ones; a riolu, a cleffa, and a litleo. though they're slightly confused at first arrival, they immediately perk up seeing the other small pokemon following suit of a large garchomp. with a wordless wave of her hand, the little pokemon shoo, and don't miss a beat. [break][break]

"you could have had me fooled." ironic, coming from her. hypocritical, even, despite the fact that she rarely spends her time in her own room - much less so than lecture halls and the pokemon centre, at least. her phone is lowered and the screen faces downwards against the seat as she maintains her gaze on her own pokemon. even with the coffee, however, she still yawns softly. [break][break]

"taking a break is good" a small smile comes to her lips "already leagues better than me.. reading and studying even on my rare break." a rare, unscheduled break.

The cancer hasn't caught up to me, yet, and my treatment is going swimmingly. They say at this rate, it will go into recession, and I'll be able to return to my work. Isn't that great news, Wendy? You might find it odd, the fact that I'm writing this letter to you. Although I used to write letters a lot, I never would have imagined I'd be writing one to my own daughter! Haha, it feels so nostalgic, yet slightly embarrassing. Were you surprised? Well, you make it so difficult to reach you, that I thought that this might be my only avenue. You always ignore my texts and my calls, after all. Oh, but I don't mean to sound passive aggressive. I know how it makes your stomach sink and your heart break. I promise I'm not mad at you. But do you think you could visit your old man in Unova now and then? It gets deathly lonely, seeing that you're the only family left. The white walls of the hospital get boorish and the routine becomes so repetitive. Make sure you're eating well, and taking care of yourself, otherwise you'll be as frail as I am! Haha. "medical school was a mistake, i'm in constant pain on the daily." though she likes to think, and joke, that her pain is in the place of others. she suffers for others. can't get any more selfless and noble than that (even though she's one to take part in the suffering of others. oops). "in the case of medical school.." she hums, dabbing another bit of alcohol around a wound "it's both. both money, and time." her lips curl into a smile, and she chuckles, slightly, though the tired eyes and slight bags don't hide anything. ".. i guess it could be worse." no pain, no gain, right? at least, that's what she keeps telling herself so she doesn't lose her damn mind. her eyes narrow, slightly, however. specifically after she realizes where his gaze travelled, and she only let out a soft hum of "don't worry. your coworkers are in good hands~" not her hands, but if they were in her hands, she'd be able to say that with confidence.
