The Elgyem listened to the woman’s explanation. Fascinated by the application of live Pokémon with machinery. If only it could formulate it adequately. Unfortunately, it found the human language difficult, excessively so.

But before it could even try and pose another question. His trainer butted in. A sigh of relief when escaped when the woman explained that he had done nothing.

Altagracia breathed the same sigh of relief, any tension there might’ve been disappeared as the woman assured her of how well-behaved the Elgyem was. “Glad to hear it.” And then the woman began to bow her head respectfully as she introduced herself. Altagracia mimicked the motion as she made her own introduction, even if it did feel a bit foreign to her. “It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Altagracia Contreras.” She paused for a moment. “What brings you all the way out here?” Altagracia figured it might be some sort of ranger business, but she could be wrong.

Meanwhile, Elgyem noticed the lack of equipment that his trainer carried. A Foreboding feeling washed over him as he looked back. And just as he did, he noticed the appearance of a Mantyke having somehow made its way onto land just about to rummage through the items in search of food.

Elgyem did not wait for its trainer to notice. It knew what it had to do. Vanishing into thin air once more, it teleported just atop the Mantyke, before allowing a rainbow Psybeam to wash down upon the baby Pokémon. Realizing it might’ve been a bit of an aggressive response as it looked upon the now unconscious Mantyke, it fetched a Pokéball from the backpack, and gently let it fall down upon the Mantyke, hopefully capturing it.

“You afraid, my intention is not.” It paused for a brief moment, trying to formulate the next sentence. “Kindly, not all take, that in their mind, I speak.” The broken speech of the Elgyem would resonate in her mind if she continued to allow its presence in there. Though, even Elgyem didn’t know if she could actually push it out if it wanted to stay. “That voice, what is?” Elgyem asked curiously, as it heard the sound of the Rotom.

Meanwhile, Altagracia finally made her way over there. “Are you making trouble again?” She asked rather loudly which only increased how prominent her accent was. A cheeky smile was on her lips as she looked from the Elgyem and to the woman.

The Elgyem quickly turned around and began to shake its head as it looked apologetic toward its trainer.

“Has he been bothering you, Ms?” She gazed upon the woman confidently trying to meet the woman’s eyes as she stood there tall and proud, though not proud of the behavior of the Elgyem, but rather because that was simply her default posture.

Though the Elgyem’s attention had been at first upon the sea, it quickly noticed the strange-looking woman walking in their direction. Ever the curious fellow that it was, it abandoned its task to greet the woman. Suddenly it vanished into thin air, only to pop up right in front of Amelia.

Using its Ability of Telepathy, it tried to establish a mental connection between her and it. If successful it would raise one arm while holding the binoculars in the other and speak with an almost alien mental voice straight inside her head. “Be not afraid.” Maybe not the most tactful of greetings, but it usually worked.

It took Altagracia all of half a minute before she noticed the lack of a certain Pokémon. She closed the notebook, laid it in her backpack, and stood up, as she began to look around. Quickly spotting the familiar shape together with someone dressed in a rather peculiar attire. A small sigh escaped her as she began to walk towards the two, hoping she would make it before the Elgyem did something rude.

It seemed they were in the same boat then. No direct experience. They would just have to make do. Altagracia gave Shizue an enthusiastic nod, once she had finished explaining where her competencies lay.

A chuckle escaped her as the woman joked. It was true, it seemed the Absols were about to make it easy to find them. “That does seem to be the case.” She spoke, her accent apparent. “Well, no use in standing around here.” She spoke and then began to head into the jungle, following the song of the two Absol.

Though as they would walk toward the sound, it would become more and more apparent that they weren’t alone. They were being watched by a group of three Absol, though the group did their best to hide. The sound of paws gently threading upon the jungle ground, leaves rustling as something moved through them, all these small signs would alert the women if they listened.

Altagracia noticed though she could not deduce exactly how many there were. She still found it curious that Absol an otherwise solitary creature seemed to have gathered here for some reason, and what made it all the more confusing was that the direction from which the songs were coming from hadn’t changed, so the ones following them weren’t a part of the howling currently going on.

Altagracia sat, neatly upon one of those foldable chairs normally used by fishermen. Clad in a bland black shirt, shorts, and a pair of decent boots. She could be a standard example of what would be considered appropriate field research clothing for the area.

Backpack neatly resting against the chair, binoculars currently in the hands of an Elgyem which floated about and watched out over the blue expanses. While her Pokémon was looking for exciting things to see, she was currently working on jolting down some notes in a bright yellow notebook. A rather thoughtful look on her face as she tried to formulate her thoughts in a constructive manner.

Yet controlling her whirlwind of thoughts was rather hard. Given how things were developing in the region. With recent rumors of cultists trying to affect the eco-systems in certain areas either towards a more Ground aligned aspect or water aligned aspects, she pondered how it would affect those areas and the surrounding areas. And from there it didn’t take much for her mind to start hypothesizing, even if it would do her little good without evidence to back it up.

A sense of relief washed over Altagracia as this Shizue confirmed that she was here to help, shortly after introductions followed, she found the choice of subject research curious but figured asking further into it might be better for another time.

Now with that in order, there was nothing to do but get to the task at hand. She turned her attention toward the Jungle. The howls of the Absol moving about in there, some of them getting closer. “Before we head in there. Do you have any experience with Absol?” Altagracia had to admit her own experience was woefully limited to things that she had read, rather than actual on-hand experience.

The clashing songs of two specific Absol began to deafen the rest of the choir, clearly responding to each other though from here Altagracia could not deduce whether they were in agreement or debating their points of view.

She was half a second from just losing her patience and just walking into the jungle when she heard the approaching steps of another person. Turning around her gaze fell upon Shizue.

She sent the woman a pleasant smile as she said. “Hola, would you perhaps be here to help with the Absol?” Her approach was direct, and it didn’t seem like the woman had been lost so really, it was the only logical conclusion she could draw.

Though it didn’t take long before she realized the rudeness of just jumping straight to matter without even offering a name or asking for one. “Oh, where are my manners? My name is Altagracia Contreras, but Altagracia is fine. And what may I call you Ms.?” She now waited patiently for a reply, gauging the woman’s reaction as she did.

The howls of Absol reached even the ears of Altagracia through the thick jungle of Route 120. Even as she stood just at the edge of the jungle. She knew as a researcher, that she should not intervene but instead, watch and document how the increase in natural disasters earthly or otherwise affected Absol and their habits. Yet, the human part in her wanted her to do something about their pain, their suffering.

Torn as she was, she had given in to her empathy and requested help from the League, though Absol seemed a more solitary creature, for the most part, there were definitely more than a few who roamed the area, and should they decide to team up, she would be in trouble.

And so she stood there patiently, waiting for whomever the league would grant her as the prophetic howls of overstimulated and frantic Absols filled the air. . A long spiky blonde-haired mountain of a woman, clad in a basic researchers outfit, bland colors, and extra pockets being the most defining features of the attire. A backpack filled with any necessities she might need, and a binocular for scouting purposes.

Attack of The Killer Combees

¡Dios mío! Was her only thought when she read the help request, pretty standard locate, capture, and delivery request. She had dealt with those before. However, Killer Combee’s were definitely not high on her list of things she expected when she traveled here. But, she figured that maybe this was but one of many changes in behavior that could be occurring because of the constant danger the region found itself in.

And so she made her way to the requested meeting spot, dressed in simple field-research attire, with matching binoculars and a small backpack on her back. He quickly gave her the run down of the situation. She gave him a nod. “Before we enter. The help request was woefully lacking in information. Do we truly have no idea why they are behaving like this? No known changes in the area which could cause this?”

She looked towards Xander, though she figured information was still scarce. Luckily she didn’t mind researching on the go.

Summer. A familiar season to her. The beating rays of the sun mixed gently against the sea breeze. It was a comfortable mixture of heat and coolness that Altagracia enjoyed. Like so many people before her, she had gone to the beach, both in search of a relaxing time, and the possibility of enjoying a dip into the ocean.

Dressed in a simple orange two-piece bikini, and with an additional floral patterned beach skirt, and sandals, did she make her way through the beach, in search of an unoccupied umbrella. In one hand she carried the cooler, which contained their provisions for the day, in the other a bundle of towels.

Alas, maybe they were too late to find an Umbrella without an owner. Many had already occupied the best spots by now. Others made it clear they did not think fondly of her company. The Tyrantrum, Vibrava, and Elgyem, though all well-behaved Pokémon, some clearly didn’t like the idea of Pokémon nearby at all.

Luckily as if some goddess of luck smiled upon her did she see an unowned Umbrella, and it seemed right beside a woman who had taken her own Pokémon with her. Quickly the merry band made their way over there. Though before they grabbed the spot, she looked toward the other person and said. “Hola, is this spot taken?” She gestured for the area underneath the empty umbrella, now covered in the shadow of the huge Tyrantrum.
