A curious glint appeared in Altagracia’s eyes as the woman went on to describe her field of study. It was a fascinating field, one which she hadn’t pursued all that much. But the few others that she had spoken to that had, always seemed like they were on the cusp of greatness, just waiting for that one lucky push in the right direction.

“Oh that is an interesting field.” She acknowledged.

But Naomi quickly turned the question back at her. Luckily it wouldn’t be the first time she had to answer that question. “I am. I study Pokémon behavior, and usually I focus on how changes in the environment affects the behavior of its inhabitants.”

One small pause later and she would continue.

“I heard these Minior had begun to descend in larger numbers than usual, and decided to take a look.”

“Your gratitude is appreciated.” Altagracia beamed a smile at Elise, now that she seemed hearty, healthy and somewhat back to her old self, Altagracia figured it was safe to let her down.

And so she did.

And it seemed luck was in their favor, as both of the young men found their way to them. She was quick to move over to them, inspecting both of them for any damages they might have sustained, especially Aaron.

She seemingly found nothing on Aaron, but Alec didn’t seem to have been as lucky. She sent him a worried look, and was about to give him a whole tirade about being careful, but Alec was quicker. He suggested that they leave and get some medical attention. And she agreed.

“Yeah, let us do that!”

Lifting Elise wasn’t as hard as she thought.

For a moment she even toyed with the idea of asking about Elise’s dietary plan. But now was not the time. She continued on moving ever forward hoping, praying to find somewhere they could be safe for a moment.

Her Pokemon followed after. And yet, the further away they got the more worried she became for Alec and Aaron. And then she remembered the scatter bang.

With her one free hand, she retrieved it from one of her oversized pockets, and then gave her Skeledirge a determined look.

“Go back there, and help, use this if you need to.”

The fire type nodded, grabbed the thing and hurried back, arriving to see the battle in full swing.

It gave both trainers a mild roar of warning as it charged past them, throwing the SCATTER BANG at the ground near their enemies temporarily distracting, disorienting or should they be lucky scare off the attackers.

“I will.” She acknowledged Alec’s wishes.

And so the battlefield became divided. Skeledirge made sure to stick by its trainer’s side as the two males continued the battle (after a short pep talk from the little one.)

“You and me, we need to find somewhere safe.” Altagracia’s stern voice tried to fight the toxins. But she knew better than to think simple words could fight back against the power of Pokémon toxins.

And so she did what any loving found-family-mother would do when their child was experiencing existential dread but had to get a move on. She tried to grab a hold of Elise, and throw her over her right shoulder. Definitely not making sure to lift the proper OSHA way.

Anyhow successful or not she would get a move on, letting the fighters do the fighting while she could hopefully find somewhere safe to treat Elise.

It felt like an eternity, but at last she got the hang of it somewhat. Still, she felt the force of the ride in her body.

And then she heard Josh’s suggestion.

A gulp escaped her. But she wasn’t about to back down.She wasn’t afraid of trying something new, as should already be plainly visible.

Besides, she couldn’t deny the huge feline a moment of excitement. And so she called back. “Sure, let’s do it!” and steeled her resolve and body for the incoming force that was sure to try and knock her off.

“A pleasure to meet you, my name is Altagracia Contreras.” Altagracia replied, though honestly her attention was a bit focused on the touch of the Minior, she mentally noted how it was quickly cooling down. Which admittedly made sense if this was a part of their life cycle.

But the uncertain silence was not lost upon Altagracia, and so she began to speak. “So What are you studying?”

And without further ado they would be on their way. Altagracia busily documented each step of the way through picture taking this time.

Her two Pokémon waddled along, well Mantyke floated more like.

But alas their bliss would not last long. Their previous expedition had offered them adversaries as hungry predators, but this time they would not be so lucky. For what appeared before them defied logic, and could best be described as a zombie led by what she had learned was called a Nihiligo. She quickly snapped a photo of it then put the camera away.

The Skeledirge was quick to join in the Sceptiles attack, a fiery reverberating TORCH SONG sending scaling flames towards the monster. Luckily the heat did not touch Altagracia as Mantyke had quickly jumped upon her, extending its Water Veil to her, protecting her from burns.

But like Alec, Altagracia did not need a reminder to run. But unlike him, she was not about to take chances with the other two. And so she was quick to attempt to grab both Elise and Aaron’s hands and drag them along as she would charge off following Alec.

The Squad was back in action.

Altagracia was looking forward to what they were about to discover this time. And now knowing that they had to deal with Aggressive Pokémon, she had brought along an old friend of hers. One more suited for dealing with larger groups.

Once through the rift, and to her surprise back at their claimed camp, she would summon forth her companions. A powerful looking Skeledirge appeared. Flames enthusiastically flowing from its mouth. Alongside it was a Mantyke, cute and small. It greeted everyone with a happy smile.

“I am ready as well.” She would reply to Alec.

Her Pokémon would each reply with a cry of their own. They too were looking forward to some adventure.

Altagracia’s gaze was pinpointed to Aslan, though the swaying ride that she was participating in wasn’t making it easy. Still, she wasn’t seeing anything that worried her.

“Sure!” She would reply as Josh gave her a warning of what was to come. She settled herself into the saddle securely and prepared for the increase in speed.

Yet for all her preparations Rapidash riding and Pyroar riding were two different beasts, which she now felt full force, even with the saddle's help.

Still, she stuck there as best she could while keeping an eye on Aslan. But doing those two things left her precious little ability to reply to the cheerful youth on the other Pyroar.

While Tyrantrum was doing its best dealing with any fish that came close to Altagracia, it became woefully clear to it that the others in the group had more to offer when it came to a fight.

Altagracia’s eyes shone bright with excitement as she saw the two displays of Mega-Evolution, to the point where Tyrantrum even seemed a bit jealous. But it didn’t voice those feelings.

Before long the fight was over. The two powerful Mega evolutions proved more than capable of dealing with the school.

“Agreed. It is certainly a relief to have trainers like you two here.” Altagracia joined Elise in praising alec foster and Aaron Toral resisting the urge to ruffle their hair in appreciation.

Alas instead she turned her attention to their newly acquired little piece of the ULTRA SEA. There was much to be done.

Altagracia gave the Young Gym Leader an acknowledging nod. He spoke facts after all. “Don’t worry. I will.” She wouldn’t. But he didn’t need to know that.

And so their trot began. Altagracia steadied herself on Simba, barely paying attention to Simba’s trot as her focus was on watching Josh and Aslan. So far, there was little for her to see, but that could change quickly enough, this she knew.

“Perhaps.” Altagracia acknowledged Aaron’s words. Her mind races to try and figure out just what sort of predator would share a territory with Sharpedo and Veluza.

But her pondering was disturbed by Alec who seemed to be in the mood for story sharing. His was not the first scar she had seen nor was his story of Team Rocket the first she had heard. Luckily Paldea had been mostly untouched by its filth, but that did not mean she was blind to their corrupted touch.

“Noble course or not. You are here, and that is what matters.” Altagracia stated matter of factly as her gaze stayed on alec foster for a short moment before turning it to the rest of the group. It seemed they were starting to open up to each other.

But unfortunately they would be given little time to converse as the rumbling sound of digging could be heard from their escape route.

The wall they had built was slowly being chipped away at by their assailants. Sharpedo fangs were known to chomp through steel, so what good were vines and rocks in defense against that.

Altagracia noticed the sound and quickly alerted everyone else. “Everyone get ready, I think we might have company soon.” And as she said that, the sound of rubble rolling away escaped the tunnel followed quickly by the angry growls of the charging enemies.

Altagracia summoned her Tyrantrum just in the nick of time as the first of the horde escaped the darkness of the tunnel. Tyrantrum was quick to grab onto it with both DRAGON CLAW and CRUNCH.

But that was just one of many. And it seemed the group they had fled from had grown bigger?

They would need some major fire power to deal with this.

Introductions were done quickly. They both knew who the other was and why they were here.

“I’ve seen a few, yeah. Though admittedly, I haven’t worked with them all that much.” She beamed a smile as she allowed her hands to grant pets to each Pyroar should they allow it.

“But yeah I saw his charts, and I will say. It’s quite the ordeal he has been through.”

It didn’t take long before Josh got up on the recovering Pyroar. While he did so, Altagracia was quick to watch how the Pyroar reacted. In particular she was looking for any signs of weight-related discomfort the Pyroar might display.

But for now she saw none.

And so as Josh suggested. She got onto Simba with an ease suggesting she had a certain amount of experience riding Pokémon.
