A statement spoken in haste as he soared through both portal and down, veering closer along the ground for just a moment in order to allow MARISOL SIMONE the means to light onto the pavements below. With a small cry later, the Talonflame carrying him flapped its wings with a large heave, further rushing and weaving through the city as his trainer did his best to take a quick survey of their surroundings.[break][break]

"A blast from the past, huh..." he murmured to himself, furrowing his brows while peering across the varied forms of action that those teleported into that selfsame city seemed to embark upon. He eyed Isaac Merlo for a short while as he lent his own aid to those accompanying him, and then across the city and towards the station that seemed equal parts familiar and not.[break][break]

A low, elongated whistle prompted the bird beneath him to turn and dive closer to the entryway to the station, being as careful as possible to light down at a distance from the sludge pooling around. Another glance, and he would've paid enough attention towards Elisabeth Fiorelli and her Venusaur before recalling the crimson-hued avian accompanying him, instead sending out a Jolteon in its stead.[break][break]

With a concession of more whistles—a duo of short ones, ended by a long one—the Eeveelution gave a short, electrifying cry before using Copycat— and, by extension, an augmented Earth Power that rose from the ground with the aid of the first Rocket's Ground Field in an attempt to impale any hands and leave its remaining spires standing tall.[break][break]

So much chaos in such a short span of time. Of course, not all of it could be evaded, but at the very least, it granted him solace to see some of the Steel Wings he’d called for the bird ferrying them to conjure forth do their duties as he watched a few of them successfully shatter some of the lances.[break][break]

As for the ones that hit closer to home, however, he found himself bracing with widened eyes whilst immediately leaning against the Talonflame beneath him, clutching onto its feathers and leaning to the side, sharply, as a means to evade the lingering spears thrust their way; an attempt made to no avail, he saw, as one careened with a whir of air by him. As swiftly as it soared through, he whipped his head around in time to see it collide with his companion’s Ceruledge, instinctively leaning around all the more in an attempt to catch it before noting its essence be recalled back into its Pokeball.[break][break]

He furrowed his brows, sighing softly while glaring down towards the scene below—alongside the beams that formed—with a pensive look.[break][break]

”Only way’s forward, looks like…” he murmured, inhaling deeply as an auburn gaze shifted between the portals. Before long, he leaned down once more, prompting the bird to begin gliding down to one of them as his trainer glanced over his shoulder, briefly, towards, MARISOL SIMONE. ”Not like the choices are above and beyond, but I hope you’re not picky.”[break][break]

The inscriptions upon the statue found themselves murmured under his breath as he leaned in for a glance, his brows briefly furrowing before his gaze shifted towards the source of a familiar voice only some ways behind him— MARISOL SIMONE. He watched as she and her own fluttered over upon the back of his companion, to which he reached out and gently ran his fingers through his feathers as he glided into reach. He looked back towards the words as the other attained a proper look before giving her a second glance.[break][break]

”Could be; could not be…” he murmured, breathing a sigh as he began to peer around the clearing once more. ”If it did, though—”[break][break]

—a remark never to be finished, of course.[break][break]

Not within the wake of chaos and clamor, even if distant. Sounds of collision met his ears before long, and thus had his gaze strayed upward in search of the source, finding naught but a mere direction at first. His eyes scanned the higher sceneries before settling upon the small flashes and the like that seemed to be lighting afar—mixed with the audible conflict that accompanied it—before narrowing his eyes and looking up towards his bird after eying the Gardevoir’s form begin to glow within the midst of its Psychic.[break][break]

”...I’m gonna hope that reached the right people, if anyone at all,” he sighed before hastily sounding a quick whistle. At once, the avian gave a small, almost shrieking sound of affirmation before lighting down just enough to allow his trainer to mount atop his back, all while said trainer quickly extended a hand down to the person he’d helped ferry, to begin with. ”We gotta go, though.”[break][break]

A simple statement— and one he wouldn’t let linger for long once she’d pulled herself atop the bird’s back, once more. As soon as his companion would be settled in, the Stone would have let another, louder whistle into the air, prompting the Talonflame to flap his wings and embark into the skies, once more. With minor direction, he began to careen towards the point of note—the summit—as the conflict grew louder and all the more noticeable, and seemingly just in time to witness the onslaught of Glacial Lances being thrust out.[break][break]

Another direction, and he’d find himself holding onto his avian companion as he tucked his wings in briefly, attempting to weave his way into the fray and unleashing a barrage of Steel Wings towards the oncoming structures of ice in an attempt to shatter them and stave them away from their targets.[break][break]

Just like always, the situation seemed to escalate so swiftly. Far be it for him to claim that he had been, in any way, accustomed to dealing with the sort of stress seen throughout the route that day— but even then, he found everything equally as exasperating as he did worrisome. From behind the safety of the Wild Guard built for him and the others to shield themselves behind, he still kept an eye on his own Talonflame, but the surroundings still warranted no shortage of attention, either.[break][break]

Battle. Chaos.[break]
Chaos, roaring, white—[break]
…White.[break][break]

Nothing described it better than a simple, blinding flash, truthfully speaking. A searing brightness singed its way into his eyes all at once; a warmth that burned so brightly before so abruptly being replaced by a sudden chill that ached to his very core. Unknowingly, the frost that accompanied his breath pooled so cooly before him as he breathed out—shakily and embraced by chill—before he could properly see it. The flash took some time to gradually diminish from his sight.[break][break]

Before long, though, he found himself bearing witness to sheets of white upon a wide stretched tundra. He looked around in slight, processing confusion while slowly standing back up.[break][break]

A place he’d only visited once before for tourism (one that only happened from the insistence from his hosts), though a place he remembered vaguely enough, nonetheless. He took another, deep breath while gathering his bearings before noting the absence of his bird— to which he swiftly brought himself to attention before soon finding his Talonflame, accompanied by a heat-seeking MARISOL SIMONE, only some ways away.[break][break]

A relief.[break][break]

One that allowed him enough of a reprieve in an otherwise wake of shock, and one that allowed him to properly and more calmly begin to take his surroundings into account. He gazed through the clearing for any and all that seemed to be around before settling his eyes upon the manor afar. Amber hues shifted between it and the straying numbers that also seemed intent upon embarking towards it.[break][break]

Nevertheless, he began to walk at a steady pace towards its steps, gazing into the courtyard and its statues with a curious, yet wary eye, though not without sounding a whistle across the ways to his bird, gesturing towards the woman by him and then towards the building in question. With a small trill, the russet feathered beast hooked around towards the woman and her Ceruledge, his body warming further as he lighted down, briefly, to offer them a means of transport.[break][break]

Somehow, he couldn’t help but doubt as such, regardless of whether or not she spoke the truth or otherwise. It was hard not to assume as such when posed with her, all that she was within those moments. Lamenting, fragile her. Lamenting, disdained her.[break][break]

Lamenting, grieving them.[break][break]

And yet, he sought to do anything aside from voicing his doubts, for he knew better than to push upon the matter when she had already been all too distressed by the topic. So, as a gaze of softened, concerned amber found itself broken from those of emerald, they lingered upon her form for just a while longer before following suit. Yet again, the sight of the grave before them met his vision, and he simply watched. Thought.[break][break]

The silence was a welcomed reprieve, and yet he had been brought back by the voice so familiar to him, yet so…harrowed. Different.[break][break]

He chuckled, shrugging once more while a straying gaze settled itself upon the distance before them once more.[break][break]

”By all means— excite away~,” he hummed, watching the distant trees rustle and dance within the light breezes blowing through the area. His foot tapped within the air as his legs remained crossed, though before long, he breathed a soft sigh. ”Not like it’s a bad thing, anyways.”[break][break]

He pursed his lips slightly, thinking quietly for a few moments.[break][break]

”Just means you’re more than an uptight workaholic,” he quipped, grinning more to himself as a touch of sarcasm laced itself within his words— both at the truth and irony of it all. ”Good to know there’s still hope for you~.”

His chest rose slowly and highly as he took a deep breath, listening.[break][break]

Even while intent to speak his mind like he'd always been, there had always been a sense of—dare he say it—anxiety that came with the honesty he'd always felt both blessed and cursed with being able to speak so naturally. Words were necessary, yet he knew how often they pressured another. It had been a simple reason of why he found himself thinking carefully, in spite of his honesty.[break][break]

It was also a reason of why he found himself easily noting the subtle movements she made; the nails against her palms; the distress upon her face.[break][break]

Yet, even then, he continued on with a, "Again, no one ever does," as the first words to leave his lips following the ones she'd spoken. "And again, things happen."[break][break]

A gaze of gold held those of viridian as it was finally met; a hardened look before gradually—slightly—softening the faintest bit.[break][break]

”Of course, of course~...” he hummed, his lips curling upward a tad more. ”Really no need to thank me for it.”[break][break]

His eyes strayed towards the flame once more following those words, though after a faint rustle within his pocket caught his attention, they followed along with the hand he reached down towards it with. Within a simple moment, he gently placed his fingers against the form of his phone, reeling it out and leaning the screen back to gaze upon the notifications.[break][break]

He noted the time soon after, sighing while beginning to stand back up.[break][break]

”Ah… Everything aside, though, I really lost track of time~.” He gave his phone a soft shake and gesture before returning it to his pocket. ”Meetings tomorrow. Stay safe if you’re staying longer, yeah?”

His chest lifted as a slow, deep breath filled his lungs, and within an ongoing sense of comfort and looseness, he allowed his head to fall and crane towards her, once more. ”...We’ll see if they’re really that glad, though— let alone if they recognize me~.”[break][break]

Though it was to be expected, given her profession and the selfsame establishment the event had apparently been associated with, he couldn’t help but furrow his brows softly whilst amber hues remained upon the distant sceneries before him. ”I mean, sure, but I figured they’d have things like—... I dunno, animal visits instead or something…”[break][break]

He could never stay away from feelings of concern and astonishment, alike, whenever he caught any sort of wind about how far down the shithole his home had fallen.[break][break]

Oftentimes, he convinced himself that it was simply one of the results of being so detached from anything and everything related to the region for so long— and that, in itself, had been a persistent, underlying reason driving him towards activity. Admittedly, in light of the dome dissipating so long ago, he’d soon found himself falling back into routine; days and nights of news articles and the like catching his attention while overseas for whatever business he had to attend.[break][break]

Once again: concerning and astounding.[break][break]

Especially when it happened so often, and especially when it happened so vehemently— and so, as both word and sound of conflict met his ears as he and a couple of others accompanying him were passing by, it only took him little more than a beat or two to dismiss himself from MARISOL SIMONE and their other acquaintances in favor of straying towards the point of struggle. Advisement of safety and the like met his ears, loud and clear, as he continued on. Nevertheless, he pressed on.[break][break]

A route so familiar expanded and passed his vision rapidly as he pressed on; the selfsame battle causing such a riot soon following suit. Already, there seemed to be a number of people both arriving and acting, and though he’d managed to catch sparing talk between police and other officials on the way over, the final piece of the puzzle that seemed to connect what little he knew of the situation clicked into place upon noting a certain canid afar.[break][break]

”That thing from the island…” he murmured under his breath.[break][break]

He furrowed his brows as his gaze shifted between the beast and its combatant, and then towards the others nearby. Survey, survey, survey; an act cut short as a chill rapidly made itself known as the wave of snow and frost causing it careened rapidly down. With little time to waste and hesitate with, he tapped one of the Pokeballs upon his person, only sounding a sharp whistle to the bird that manifested from it while holding his arm towards it.[break][break]

They took flight immediately, all while the Stone, himself, searched the area a second time. The Avalanche made its way towards the wolf afar, and somewhat nearby, there seemed to be some sort of barrier from someone else. Hues of amber settled upon the little ticks and hints strewn before him within such a fleeting, yet noting manner; the clench of fingers reflective within his eyes, similar to the creases within her expression, as well as whatever else that may have surfaced within her disdain and distress.[break][break]
