Jaci stood no chance against the effectiveness of Polyphemus' Shadow Sneak, no matter how hard it tried. The Lunatone tried to resist, but eventually buckled and collapsed with a whimpering cry to the ghost-type's power. It's defeat echoed through the cave, reaching the assassin's ears moments after its demise.

She gritted her teeth, yet when the young woman called forth her Salazzle and threatened her, Kyrenai's nostrils flared. "You... dare-" her voice dropped low. And then everything went fast. Rather than her knife, she tapped her belt, a pokéball dropping to the floor and releasing the imposing figure of her Tyranitar right beside her. As the silhouette grew Kyrenai latched on, allowing Vex' strenght to free her from the adhessive keeping her from moving. The moment she felt her leg pulled loose she let go, allowing the Tyranitar its momentum. Despite its size it moved nimbly, flowing with the rage of its trainer it lashed out, striking the Salazzle with a full-powered Giga Impact to shut it up.

Kyrenai flew past her partner and stepped into the younger woman's personal space, forcing her against the rocky wall, hand stretched out towards her throat. When she spoke her voice dipped low, a hot whisper laced with threats and fire. "You're lucky I'm in a good mood right now, little girl," her face was mere inches away from Ruby's, piercing eyes set on her victim. "Tell your pokémon to stand down. Now. Or else..."

And with their luck, no battle seemed to come their way either as they traversed the vastness of the Ultra Sea. In fact, the tranquil silence seemed to bother her more than a surprise battle would have, as it meant Rocket was wreaking havoc elsewhere.

The second outpost came in sight before she knew it, the Ultra Sea even sparing them any encounters with its local wildlife, not even a mere sighting, allowing for the antidote against the Nihilego poison to be kept for another time. A time in which she hoped she would truly need it. Once they arrived she made sure to stick around long enough for their cargo to be safely stored away, then thanked Kyle for joining, and bid the champion farewell.

Mayhaps their paths would cross again in better times.

Cin's Flamethrower hit nothing but air, and the time it needed to react was enough for the Cinderace's Scorching Sands to hit it square in the face. It cried out, leaving it Ko'd on the floor once the smoke and debris cleared. Kyrenai watched carefully at the outcome she'd forseen; still, now she knew how Cin reacted in an actual battle-- it's defeat had not been for naught.

She could hear the man snort in contempt at the display as he left, not even bothering a reply to anything she said. It bothered the assassin rather little, who instead focused on the downed chimp and gently pat its back as she picked it up. At the very least she now had free passage, at the cost of another defeat in battle. She cared little for that prestige, gently craddling the Chimchar as she made her was further down the cave as well. Seraphim was gone, and her passage secured.

That was all that mattered.

"That honestly sounds like a lot of things to juggle at once," she looks at the young woman, eyebrows slightly raised. "I doubt you'd even have any spare time left to unwind, not to forget that as if you become the new Galarian Ambassador, all eyes will be on you. The general expectations, your academics,..." her voice trails off into silence, a frown creasing her brows.

"Don't try to spread yourself too thin. All those things won't have any use if you're burnt out in the end, no matter how ambitious or smart you are." Kyrenai says, pulling out her holographic map to check whether they're on the right track. "Just a friendly word of advice, is all. You still do what you think is best." her smile is apologetic, and she taps the device to shrink the map back down. They only need to cross a smaller valley before the next outpost came into view.

To counter Acrobatics with Acrobatics was perhaps the worst outcome for the little chimp, who started flailing as Amor's Cinderace drew near, kicking it back down. Cin plummeted into the ground, the rocky surface creating even more damage than before. Much to her own surprise the fire chimp still managed to struggle back to its feet, albeit barely, and growled at the Cinderace, baring its fangs.

"Atta boy, now use-"

She didn't have to say more. Cin took matters into its own hands, somehow angered by the display, and launched a flamethrower at its opponent in what Kyrenai could only describe as wild fury. She sighed, Seraphim's robotic voice speaking in the background. When she focused back on him she saw him flop down into a seated position, his body-language speaking for itself.

"My god, you are sulking!" she exclaimed, her voice shifting from surprised disbelief to another set of laughter.

It was rather adorable to see the otherwise stoic, armored man pouting -she couldn't see, but she was fairly certain he was pouting- like a miffed youngster. Adorable, and it cracked her up. "Can't always have what we want, now can we? But tell you what, next time I'll bring out the big guns. Just for you." she gave the man a teasing wink.

Neither pokémon looks like it wants to stand down, remaining in each other's personal space and blasting move after move into one another's faces. Jaci hisses as it takes the full burnt of the Payback, effectively getting smacked backwards by its cheer force. The Lunatone doesn't cease however, using the space between them to its advantage to charge another Moonblast at the Dusknoir, if only to keep it at bay. Another hit like that and it's over for the Lunatone... and it's very much aware of this.

On the other side of the cave, Kyrenai is rapidly advancing towards the other woman, unaware of the Sticky Glob tossed at the ground before her feet. When the cave lights up with the flash of Jaci's Moonblast -one that doesn't reach them this time around- the assassin can make out her foe; a young woman with equally fiery hair. Her face cracks into a grin, knowing she has the woman cornered.

And then the Sticky Glob does its work. The rocky underground's too soft for the cave, and as she realises it's already too late; the adhesive has her left leg stuck to the ground. What follows is a dangerous growl as Kyrenai tries to free her leg, but it doesn't budge much. Her eyes flick back to the woman in front of her, her hand resting on one of the knives strapped to her thigh. "Well played, little girl... but that won't stop me for long." she says, her eyes shooting fire.

She nods contently, happy her explanation seems to perk up the princess' mood regarding her previous meeting. It was interesting to see a small part of herself reflected in Elise's worries. Years ago she was worrying about exactly the same things; how to capture someone's interest, make people like her one way or another.

But, as she'd learnt, doing so would eventually spiral into something worse. Kyrenai had just been 'lucky' that she'd been swept out of that spiral before it was too late, because even her stubbornness would not have withstood the damage said downward spiral would have done. She shook her head.

Now was no time to recall those moments.

Once they're well on their way, the assassin uncharacteristically innitiates a moment of small-talking. "So, Elise, what do you have going on for yourself? Aside from this entire conflict, I mean."

The light of the Moonblast illuminates all. Kyrenai's silhouette is visible against the brightness of the beam that flashes past her, and as it travels further down the cave, she sees a similar figure dodge out of its way. Now neither of them are hidden anymore.

And she thanks her instincts when the shadows stir, a Dusknoir going for her Lunatone. "Go!" she orders Jaci before ducking out of the way, making her way furhter down the cave towards where she saw the other person. The Lunatone whirs and takes the Shadow Punch head-on, unleashing a Stone Edge around itself now the Dusknoir is within range.

"What now? Sulking because I'm not throwing out the big guns?" The way she says it sounds almost mocking, but the look on her face, the grin playing on it is a knowing one. Sure, she knew her Chimchar stood no chance, but that did not mean they had to downplay the worth of the little chimp. It's tenacity was second to none, even for one so young; and up until now she'd not seen its fighting spirit broken.

Yet.

Mayhaps that was the catch. It had fought her Hydreigon head-on many a time, never wavering even when it got clobbered, but that too had never been a proper fight, rather the dragon trying to reprimand and temper Cin's hotheadedness. In the end, it had changed nothing.

"Be that as it may, I wouldn't worry that pretty little head of yours about the seriousness of this fight. Nor the perseverance of Cin. He will fight, and he will learn. The hard way, if need be." There's something hard in her eyes when she says the latter. Like it was the only way she would perceive things to turn out. To learn was to get beaten and rise from the ashes.

When the incoming Scorching Sands neared, Kyrenai exhaled, her eyes fixated on the entire picture instead of solely her Chimchar. "Cin," her voice is commandeering, calling the chimp to attention immediately. At least that had improved. "Dodge it with Acrobatics, but stay on your toes."

And the Chimchar follows suit, waiting for the ball of sand to reach it; it jumps, only narrowly dodging the attack as he sails over it. But its jump is too unbridled, leaving it airborne far longer than intended. She sees it happen but says nothing to correct the chimp, leaving it to fend with its instincts for now.

The fire comes again, raining down from above, and this time there's no conveniently thrown projectiles they can use to counter them. The woman is all but willing to resign herself to a fate most crisp and turns, abandoning her initial plan at backing her fellow knife-bearing Leaguer for the 'greater good' of tackling his Bellosom out of the way. In an attempt to break their fall she's forced to part with one of her knives, hearing it bounce off into the darkness beyond her, but it beats being pierced by it solely because she didn't wish to let go of it.

Hideyoshi, nearby enough to react rushes forward and stretches its wings wide, flinging itself in the way of the Flamethrower to protect its allies from the incoming onslaught from above, taking the burnt instead. It tries to persist, using Aqua Ring to slowly heal itself.

Her temporary new ally takes to the sky, leaving her and her partner to stand their ground--literally. Roaring Moon seems ill-tempered and all but pleased with the new pair butting in, now aiming its attacks at them instead.

After all, their manoeuvrability was nothing compared to a sky-bound rider.

But that did not mean they were helpless. As the Roaring Moon made a most-impressive U-turn and came barreling back down with a Dragon Rush in tow, the Carracosta takes a stand and braces itself, conjuring a Protect to counter the Roaring Moon's attack. Much like a parry would, the ancient beast is propelled back into the sky from whence it came, only slightly shaken from the impact, allowing ample moments before it can collect its bearings.

Her eyebrow quirks, and Kyrenai has to do her utmost best to keep a straight face as Lydia tells the assassin to stay behind her due to the potential danger on their trip. It takes her even more effort to keep her voice from pitching as she -now silently- ushers a questioning "Oh?", even though she doesn't expect an immediate reply. If at all.

She was right though. The job was in fact simple. Things would indeed get dangerous. But mostly for her, not the other. That is, if she managed to get her plan to work; which she figured would be taking a bit more effort than initially thought. She eyed the woman curiously, but nodded nonetheless when asked if she was ready to depart. "Ready as I'll ever be." Kyrenai motions for Lydia to take charge and lead the way, seeing as she so valiantly volunteered to be her protector.

"Fair warning though, I'll probably ask for a few stops along the way to map out the area. Hope you don't mind." she gives the woman an apologetic smile as she issues her own request. Not that she was actually going to map the area or scribble down waypoints or areas of interest; she'd just be searching for clues and tracks.

"I've yet to have the honor of meeting miss Fairburne in person, so I couldn't quite say," she replies in kind. "but wanting to impress someone merely for them to like you isn't always the best way to go about. Especially during a first meeting, let alone times of conflict such as these." Kyrenai states, giving Elise a sympathetic smile.

At one point she too had done anything in her power to impress and appease people just so they would like and tolerate her. Although it had worked most of the time, it had backfired just as often, and given her harsh lessons on the duality of mankind. So she shakes her head shortly, glancing at the young woman and her Mismagius. "So don't worry too much about it. As long as there's mutual respect, there's hope for improvement if you so wish."

Switching the crate for two smaller bags, Kyrenai starts dividing the crate's contents among them so their transportation goes about more smoothly. The supplies officer lingers near them, but a pointed look and a wave of her hand dismisses him. Though it is moreso her employer's power she borrowed that makes the man droop and disappear obediently. Had it not been for Penelope Livy's position, he would've probably ended up having rather heated words with her, Kyrenai figured.

"No shame in that!" she says, handing the smaller bag to Elise. Although she wasn't as naive as to presume, the assassin was quite certain that the princess' physical prowess paled in comparison to a fair few people, herself included. The difference in upbringing, for one. All but a sheltered life she'd lived, and even if she had, her training to become the killer she was now would have changed that regardless. Being beaten had been considered a kindness during those years. But the princess wasn't to blame for that. "Each has their own strenghts, some physical, some intellectual, others creatively;"

Motioning for Elise and Mana to follow her, Kyrenai swings her own bag over her shoulder and slowly starts making her way towards the outpost's exit. "That's just the way of the world."
