With a mind now clear of frustration, Rafael turned to leave the Safari Zone. He had the beginnings of a plan to thrust himself back into the spotlight. And maybe that would be the only place he was thrust, if his plan worked the way he wanted.[break][break]

"Ah, a sign: someone from home," Rafael murmured to Noble as a Capsacid tottered out onto the path in front of the Safari Zone's exit. With a wicked grin, he cocked back his arm and threw his final safari ball.

An irritating buzz distracted him from his thoughts as a Scyther landed on the path ahead of them. The pokemon's posture was aggressive and intimidated, causing Noble to shy back. As the Snivy backed into Rafael's legs, he leaned down to stroke his partner's sinuous form.[break][break]

"Don't worry, my friend. The sharp witted do not fear the blade," he said to his pokemon in a soothing tone. As the Scyther approached, he was quick to throw a safari ball.

Rafael started a mental list of to-do items when he got back to the office. He'd make a big investment in a new project or organization; that always caused a media splash when the money was right and the news was slow. The Foundation had some big archaeological projects going on right now too, so he'd need to go through the list of artifacts and divert something from the black market pool to a flashy donation. That was all business as usual and he needed to gain more ground than that.[break][break]

His thoughts turned back to Colin Roche as a Gible charged toward them. Noble valiantly grappled with it as Rafael tossed a safari ball, though his mind was still on the CEO of EvoEx. Maybe there was some type of joint venture that would benefit the both of them. He wouldn't mind a repeat of the stairwell either, he thought with a smirk.

Tucking the safari ball away, Rafael's face lit up with a smile. This Dhelmise would be a great addition to his yacht. He congratulated himself on the good decision to come to the safari zone. Already his mood was improving.[break][break]

However, this trip wasn't going to solve his problems. He'd still need to find a way to bring the Artega name back to the forefront. He was preoccupied with that though when a Qwilfish popped out from a nearby waterway. He shot it an unimpressed glare as Noble harried it away.

A sense of foreboding and the sound of dripping water caused Rafael to glance over his shoulder. He spotted the Dhelmise following behind them at a discrete distance. With a soft whisper to Noble, he commanded his partner to bind their persuer.[break][break]

Vines whipped out from the Snivy, wrapping tightly around the Dhelmise. Rafael threw a pokeball at the pokemon as it struggled before turning his thoughts back to his fading star in the economic community.

Sauntering through the Safari Zone, Rafael felt the first sense of relaxation he had all week. Another article in The Hoenn Economist lauding Colin Roche and EvoEx had burrowed its way into his brain. There were plenty of hot asshole CEOs to write about; Rafael didn't understand the financial media's obsession with the man. To add insult to injury, Rafael had been mentioned as "working alongside" Roche for philanthropic historic preservation. Rafael had been on the board for that charity first![break][break]

Noble chittered happily, sticking his snout up to catch the breeze from his position on his trainer's shoulder. Yes, no more thinking about Roach, he was here for some game hunting.

When Roche pulled him into a kiss with his tie, his head buzzed with the kind of high that Rafael was never able to imitate with drugs. The rough heat of it stripped away the last of his control and as he pulled away, he was already popping the button and ripping down the zipper on Roche's expensive pants.[break][break]

Leaning back just long enough to spit as he positioned himself behind his rival, he roughly pushed the man against the wall as his hips snapped forward. The sound of their breathing and the meeting of their skin filled the otherwise silent stairwell as Rafael dug his fingers into Roche's hips. Adjusting his rhythm and leaning forward, he pressed his mouth onto the man's neck and sucked, deepening the color of the mark. Another reminder for Roche until the next time they ran afoul of one another.[break][break]

Keeping one hand locked to Roche's hip, Rafael reached the other forward to tug him toward their shared release. Roche's body tensing around him tipped Rafael over the edge, his teeth biting into the other man's shoulder as he rode out the wave of euphoria.[break][break]

Stepping back, he slapped Roche's ass before buttoning himself back into his trousers. His blissed out laughter echoing in the stairwell was his only parting sentiment as he headed up the steps to his suite.

A wry smile quirked the corners of his lips as Roche backed him against the wall. The man's ranting only served to entertain Rafael, but the low growls and panting breath sent a shiver down his spine.[break][break]

When Roche's tongue slipped between his lips, Rafael let out a low moan as he yielded to the other man's commanding lips. This close to Roche, he could smell the subtle scent of a rich cologne mixed with the man's sweat. The fury of the kiss and the man's smell had Rafael's nerves thrumming as he reached one hand behind Roche's head to tangle in his hair and slid one down his back to palm the smooth globe of his his ass cheek.[break][break]

He yanked Roche's hair back, breaking off the kiss so that he could feather his lips down the man's throat, kissing and licking until he reached the side of his neck where light purpling marked the place where his fingers had been on their walk to the hotel. He scraped his teeth playfully across the bruise before tilting his head so that his lips brushed Roche's ear.[break][break]

"Yes, I do fucking wish," he murmured softly, unable to keep the heat of desire from his voice. Without releasing his hair, he reached between them with one hand and pulled the other man's belt off with a snap that echoed in the empty stairwell.[break][break]

Rafael rocked his hips against Roche, feeling the fine fabric of their suit pants rubbing between them as he growled, "Do you want it, even knowing that every time I see you, I'll remind you of this? That is was me who tore you apart?"[break][break]

He rocked his hips again, relishing the hard friction between them as he whispered, "I won't even say a word. I'll look at you and you'll know."

Rafael eyed the Palossand with an amused expression as his Toedscruel scattered spikes around him protectively. He thought it strange to see so many of the pokemon this far inland but as long as they weren't bothering him, he didn't care what they were doing.[break][break]

"At least no one will mistake you for a sand castle out here and kick you over," he grinned at one of the pokemon as its sandy form shuffled by outside the ring of stony spikes on the ground.[break][break]

Rafael tossed a pokeball at the creature, adding "Maybe I could put you to work on artifact retrieval when we have beach digs."[break][break]

Setting a normal walking pace, a low chuckle filled Rafael's throat. He knew Roche had recognized the danger from the way he had acquiesced to his touch but the man still couldn't help himself from being an asshole. Rather than take the bait of the man's insults, he simply kept walking, lowering his hand from Roche's neck to the small of his back to gently press him forward.[break][break]

Rafael's pants tightened as Colin's lean muscles moved beneath his palm. Every time Roche opened his mouth, he wanted to forcefully close it again. Zip his lips shut, or... the image of Roche gagged and on his knees flashed through his mind.[break][break]

"It kills you that it was me who stepped in to help you, doesn't it?" he asked, turning his head so that his breath feathered over Roche's ear as Rafael checked behind them.[break][break]

From his intimate vantage point on Roche's shoulder, it was easy to see three men and women in suits step from an unmarked sedan on the street and interpose themselves between the two men and their pursuers. Rafael couldn't tell if it was his corporate security team or Roche's, but their would-be assailants had better hope the team belonged to Roche. Thinking of it, Rafael wondered if EvoEx even had a corporate security detail; Roche seemed like the type of egotistical asshole who thought himself above one.[break][break]

Taking one final opportunity to annoy the man, Rafael huffed a warm breath in his ear before quipping, "All this work just to get me back to the hotel with you? You could have just asked."

Buried Things [SW]

A shout of alarm rose from one of the excavations as a Golett shook itself free of the sand, upsetting bins of hastily packed tools. Rafael's frown smoothed out as he stepped from the command tent and headed toward the Automaton Pokemon. As archaeologists and laborers scattered, Rafael gestured wordlessly to his Toedscruel.[break][break]

Strong tentacles wrapped around the Golett as Rafael approached. The wild pokemon struggled against its bonds but Rafael could already feel his satisfaction rising as he tossed a pokeball at the helpless thing. At least he would have one thing to take home with him when they evacuated ahead of the sandstorm.
