It was days like this lingering across campus, that Levy felt at his loneliest. Even amongst so many other people, maybe especially because he was surrounded. Yet he felt like a phantom amongst them, hidden just out of their line of sight.

Barely muttered excuse me's as bodies shuffled past or, sometimes, through him. They barely glanced back. What even was the point though of school? Why was he even there? Maybe at one time it made sense. It certainly hadn't been an excuse to meet anyone, as he went out of his way to learn anyone's name. However, maybe part of him had hoped that...

It was a stupid thought though. If he was smart, he'd quit and give himself over to Rocket full-time. There'd be no more anxiety or social pressure, no more packing in hours of school work at that last second. It wasn't as if his work with Rocket was conflicting to him. Sometimes, it even made him feel good. When he did well and was rewarded for it. What a stupid dog-like response, melting over a little bit of appreciation.

Maybe things would change soon. Maybe he could be different, and things would be different. This certainly didn't feel like it was scratching that bizarre itch he had for something more out of this world.

Managing to push through the rest of the crowd lingering in the main square, it occurred to him that he had no other reason to wait around. Classes were over and he had nothing else planned for the day. He felt himself sink in on himself, just a little bit. No distractions, just himself. That was alright though, right?
