It felt like they were still figuring things out. It was an awkward growing phase that made him feel, once again, like a teenager. All sharp elbows and knobbly knees. Though unlike then, he didn't really know how to go about it. At least not with stoicism and indifference. This was his relationship with Wren after all, not exactly puberty.

Even then, he couldn't help but feel undeserving of this softness. Wren curled up against him and it felt almost like a sin to accept. Things had eased off, he was no longer in the market of thieving or hurting pokemon so maybe that would eventually ease that tension. He wasn't going to leave Rocket, which was maybe a little selfish. There were still parts of him that were stubborn and unbudging, with things to prove to people that were no longer in his life.

"Huh? Oh nothing just you getting home I mean." He rambled, feeling a little foggy with sleep that he pushed away. It was a little difficult with other's weight and heat, dragging him back under. "I'm baking." As if that wasn't obvious.

He sighed, letting them rest like that for a second in silence. "Not sure when we became adults, it kinda sucks."

For once, things were uncomplicated.

Mostly, at least. Every once in awhile, his mind would work overtime to try and scrounge up some potential problem that didn't actually exist. It was simply in his nature. He was used to looking out for danger, planning for the disaster before it happened. Maybe a part of him refused to believe that this kind of peace couldn't possibly belong to him. Yet, of course, Wren changed everything. He felt stupid, considering it was blatantly obvious that his life would only improve if he accepted that he was in love with his best friend and that the other wasn't going to just leave him.

Fears of abandonment aside, it was just nice to sit around and enjoy the coziness of it all. For once, he didn't have to look over his shoulder for danger. They didn't acknowledge completely the moral ambiguity of his job, but it had improved significantly after taking fern delaney 's job. Even if the weasel could be annoying, he wasn't the worst employer. The worst part being that Levy actually kind of respected him regardless.

He'd fallen asleep on the chair, again though. Despite the fact he enjoyed this change in career, it had started to dominate a large portion of his life. Maybe that wasn't all bad, but he didn't see much of Wren lately either.

The sudden weight made him jump a little, jerking back into the cushion as he blinked the sleep from his eyes. "Oh hey, is it that time already?" He tipped his head to the side to observe the ticking of the timer on the windowsill. Not that long, at least. The last thing he needed was burnt cake.

Okay, so the dragapult was actually really cute. Maybe he should get one someday. His type had strangely veered into bugs, not that he'd been fond of creepy crawlies. It was just weirdly happened. Sure he could add a phantom lizard to the crew.

Truly he hadn't known exactly, it had been a hunch. A correct hunch. It had the smell of paper and ink, a weirdly warm ambiance that Levy was somewhat inclined to. He liked the quiet, tucked away sort of places. Granted, for as much as Fern talked, he'd never thought to find quiet and solitude around the other man.

"Well... actually, I'm kind of relieved." He didn't really think before speaking, and wasn't sure how to follow up the statement. It had been something he'd been thinking about for some time now. Being around Wren increasingly more had made his job difficult. He couldn't help but feel guilty, even if he'd made his bed and wasn't prepared to change (even for Wren). He was forcing Wren to be hypocritical, being around him.

With a quick eyebrow raise, he shrugged his shoulders and took a seat without asking. "Sure, okay." A discussion. Why did that make him so nervous? Had Rocket noticed something and sent an admin after him? There were far more intimidating fellows out there, like jayden cross who had forced him to stay in the hospital. Fern was a farcry from scary.

"Alright, what is this discussion?" He was good at seeming unperturbed, but even then it seeped into his tone, critical and defensive.

"Well then you gotta get tougher." Levy said with a shrug, though a little smile snuck its way onto his lips at the thought of Wren trying to be tough. He didn't think that'd go against him though. He didn't need to be tough to inspire others or gain their loyalty, he just needed to be himself. Levy wasn't really skilled enough at explaining this to the other, so he figured he'd let Wren figure it out for himself.

"Wow, maybe I should've gotten a roommate sooner if I get this out of it." He laughed, giving the other another affectionate kiss. As if anyone else could fill Wren's place in his life. It was a ridiculous thought.

Levy just wanted to make sure that he was never dominating Wren's life with his problems. Even if they weren't real problems, he simply perceived them that way. It was hard for him to grow out of that old mentality, though Wren had helped him tremendously since they were kids.

He smiled then, "Good, I'm glad. And, I'm excited for you. They'd be crazy not to want someone as passionate and cute as you being their captain." He laughed at that, giving him a little nudge with his elbow before leaning over to give him a smooch on the cheek.

The laugh that slipped free at that reaction was unbidden, unanticipated. "You don't wanna assume anything serious? Wren," He shook his head, "Well past that though, aren't we?"

Distractedly, he noticed a Koffing with its dopey smile, hovering in the air. Galvantula gave it a quick shock before he tossed a pokeball to catch.

Levy already knew he wasn't going to retain any of this information. Mint would have been luck teaching a tyranitar to chase its tail. Even then, he had a job to do and he wasn't about to complain and object in front of a senior Rocket (even if he was a bit ridiculous). It seemed that at the very least, Mint was taking this seriously and not trying to ridicule him. Levy was simply easily embarrassed, not that he'd admit it.

His eyes darted between the other's face, fresh of any paint (strangely naked), and then down at the supplies offered. He was supposed to participate, not sit there whining about it like a big baby. Levy sighed at that, barely suppressing the urge to threaten him: if you tell anybody... The truth was he didn't know what he'd do because the other was a beast and he was a nobody, but he'd find an 'or else' in some form.

"Okay," He muttered before he started.

"Yeah I'm not very good at... that stuff." Feelings didn't work for him, even if he felt a lot of them all that once and it was usually quite overwhelming. He probably wasn't doing too good at being company for this girl either. He wasn't sure what she needed or even why he was trying to fulfill it.

He tilted his head at that, "That sounds like a good thing then?" That was another thing that Levy was none too good at. "If something makes you miserable then it's probably not worth continuing. Even if it feels difficult at first." The sentiment made him think of his mother, a past he'd left behind that he would never go back to. He was happier since leaving, even if he was still a bit of a melancholic bastard.

"Skin routine? Uhhh no..." The idea made him laugh a little. The idea of a street rat like him having a skin routine. He hovered away a little under the close scrutiny, not used to the close inspection.

Once again, another big no. He had plenty of insecurities about himself without adding more with makeup. "Uh no," He tried to keep up with the other, eyes following the brushes. "Spring or summer, the hell is that?" He snorted, biting down on the desire to complain that this was clearly a waste of time. While the idea had intrigued him, maybe he wasn't cut out for this kind of skillset.

This would probably end badly, that was the usual course of thoughts for him. For one brief moment, he'd know such incandescent happiness before his mind dragged him back down. What a sourpuss. What a wretched kind of person to be around, yet Wren wanted to be with him. He couldn't understand it. Didn't it get tiring? Being with someone who so easily lost their way?

Levy wanted to be better for him, but it felt like a selfish thing. What he wanted was to keep him, hold him close until he never thought to leave him. Maybe he was cold and cruel and selfish, but he could be better, right? He wanted to be. Even though Wren had repeatedly told him before that he didn't need to be. That was a hard concept to swallow.

His hands moved through the other's blonde locks in turn. "No, I'm... okay." He smiled and it felt so soft. "I'm happy, just being here with you, y'know?" That was the simplest truth.

That simple sentiment was pressed into the kiss, all the little quirks and passions and wants that Wren had evoked in him. So naturally. The other wound around him body and soul. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, you know?"

He wondered if Wren realized that he was special. Did he realize how much of an exception he was for him? That every day they spent together felt like something solid that he could hold onto when everything else felt tenuous and flimsy. Every once awhile, something achy would stir up in his chest at the realization before he quickly swallowed it up. The truth was that Wren made the steel in him go weak, but that was a terrifying thing. He put up those walls for a reason. It was supposed to protect him from the dangers he knew were out there.

It hurt to keep the other at arm's length though. Even if it didn't seem that way. Getting too close to the other boy was bound to punch back. One day, maybe he would regret this friendship too. Though he couldn't imagine a world where Wren was cruel or unkind. However, maybe he would be the one to hurt Wren and he'd never forgive himself for that.

"I like sugar," He smiled. "And sweet things." That felt like too much of the truth, but he didn't take it back. It was too late for that. Instead, he regarded one of the televisions over the counter, news playing with the subtitles off. It was a matter of fitting words to a silent moving mouth. Sometimes he felt like that, what a stupid thought.

"Yeah, or well... I did. It's been a little while." He admitted. School made all sorts of things more difficult to accomplish. He had plans, but school didn't fit into it. "We could do something else... after this, if you want." He felt his skin heat up, just a little before he looked back to the television.

"It would be," He paused at that with a brief frown, brows barely furrowing before turning to look at him. "That's what you want though, right? I... just want to make sure that you're not just doing it for me. I can go to you. You don't have to... I just don't want you to feel like you have to make decisions with me in mind." Levy scrambled a little in his thoughts, realizing that the last thing he ever wanted was to dominate Wren's life with his... problems. He wasn't easy to deal with and already felt like he was responsible for a lot of other issues in Wren's life.

After all, it was his fault they'd taken so long to make this kind of leap. He'd been the sensitive one, the one that was so easily hurt and now he was afraid that Wren was making yet another big decision because he was afraid. After Littleroot, he couldn't blame him for reacting out of fear that Lev would fall off the deep end again.

Admittedly, but maybe not unsurprisingly, Levy was feeling a little reticent about following the details of the letter. Not only because of the somewhat sweetly patronizing tone of the letter, but because Fern was shifty. They'd been paired together a couple of times and Levy had known the man to be somewhat exhausting. Then again, most people exhausted Levy without meaning to, it was simply his unfortunate nature as an extreme introvert.

Still, Fern had something of value to teach, obviously. The guy made it to admin one way or another so he couldn't exactly doubt his capabilities. Either way, he wasn't going to miss out on the opportunity, even if it was a sham.

He showed up on time, of course, with a treat in hand for the greedy dragapult waiting for him. With a sigh, he muttered, "Let's get this over with." It wasn't like he had anything better to do. Wren was out wrestling with his dreams of being a ranger captain. Maybe this was Levy's attempt at showing similar ambition, though in not nearly so admirable a way.

"Good, I need all that I can get." He laughed, pressing another kiss to his cheek affectionately.

He felt like he was battling between fear and the things he wanted. It was difficult, things were so much more complicated all within a matter of seconds. He didn't regret that difficulty though and wasn't about to push the other away again. Wren deserved so much more than that. He deserved the whole world if Levy could give him that, which probably wasn't possible. Either way, he'd try his best. That was all that he could do.

His own hands began to wander, going bolder with every passing second. The heat of the other boy's skin was the best kind of drug. Yet he wasn't at all prepared for that sound. He felt his own face go hot, eyes wide for a moment as he stared at the other until the separation was too unbearable to handle. God, he was adorable though.

"Yeah, yeah I'm fine... I'm just kind of nervous. I don't know why." That was far from unusual for him. Avoidance was a powerful means of handling things for him, but he didn't want to avoid this so it didn't make sense. He leaned back down and kissed him, this time slower. Forcing the nervous energy away, there was no need to rush, right?
