Lips pressed soft against the back of his neck. It was so unexpectedly intimate, that it made him shiver. Sure, maybe it was a bit ridiculous now considering the things they've done together, but it was strangely soft and almost domestic. It felt like there was more there than conditional whispers and fleeting moments of unknown wants. For as shameless as they could be, there was still an unexpected bashfulness when it came to being soft with one another. They weren't accustomed to anything that wasn't conditional.

He grumbled out a retorted complaint, but no words were actually formed. Even the nagging was unexpectedly soft. They were quiet as Enzo worked the tangles from his hair and Kosei would have paid to know his thoughts right then. Under normal circumstances, he would have accepted what he got for what it was worth, but now he felt himself deeply unsatisfied with what little information he'd been given. Enzo knew his life to such a degree that it was embarrassing. Not that Kosei was exactly an open-book, but his nature had been bred by his family so it was painfully easy to connect the dots.

Enzo, meanwhile, was clever and stupidly mysterious. Even if Kosei had formed some theories here and there, which had been sufficient back then. Now, it was irritating how little he really knew.

Luca Serrano. "Why did you change it?" He asked, before realizing whether or not he'd been given the right to know and was quiet when Enzo offered.

"I..." Kosei paused at that, hating the words he was about to say. "You don't have to tell me anything if you don't really want to. You don't owe me anything." It was a little complicated, battling between the desire to know and not wanting to push him and also feeling somewhat bitter about knowing he'd been so painfully well known while Enzo had hidden. The bitterness existed there whether he wanted it to or not.

Kosei couldn't help the spread of heat on his face, having just said something stupid. There he was faced with a rare scenario where Enzo had given him hints into his past and his question sounded so stupid and odd. He had never been all that natural in conversation and he was lucky if anything he said came out in order or not. "Yeah that's uh... what I meant." He rolled his eyes, sighing at his own stupidity. Though, for some reason, hearing Enzo talk about siblings and parents was odd. Of course the other had family, even if not closely. Yet... still..

All he'd ever pictured was that street dog of a guy, snarky and wily and "out of control" in younger-Kosei's naive opinion. He wanted to ask more and it must have shown on his face as his lips knitted firmly together. Sure, he was uncertain of how to breach the topic, but even more so afraid he'd fuck it up. Kosei was even more of an idiot with sensitive topics than Enzo was.

Now, he wasn't entirely certain if it was sex that the other had in mind when they retreated from the brewery back out into the open air, but he didn't necessarily object to whatever the other had in mind. Sure, he was admittedly disappointed that the conversation ended so abruptly. He'd added nothing of value and didn't really know where to start. He'd started simpler arguments before.

Silently, mostly surveying how the other might be feeling, he followed the other back to the cabin and then watched Enzo flop onto the bed. Okay, so maybe he wasn't looking for sex. He looked like a tired old man that wanted to go to sleep early, but he didn't say as much. "You were... enjoying it?" He dropped his jacket onto the little kitchenette counter before fishing his hair out of the tie. The only thing he managed to do was get it tangled in the mess that was his hair and with a sigh he retreated to the bed. "Help."

He waited for the assistance expectedly, pausing before carefully asking. "You don't uhh voluntarily talk about the past so... I wasn't expecting it."

It had often occurred to Kosei and often bothered him in the past, that he didn't know a lot about Enzo under the façade he put on. Enzo was a carefully constructed persona and Kosei was probably the only one around that knew that. If anything, he should be happy to at least be privy to that information, but he'd often found himself less satisfied by that answer over time. It wasn't the reason he'd left, but it had justified it significantly.

Meanwhile, Kosei's life felt laughably out in the open, the less-than-ideal son of military icons. Who sought out the conditional love and acceptance of others because he could never gain it from his parents. Never good enough and he'd taken that personally from Enzo back then too. It had never been about Miu's sake and he'd been a selfish bastard to suggest otherwise, but Enzo already knew that as he knew everything about Kosei.

Kosei blinked then in momentary surprise at the little slip. Was it made in error or a genuine remark? He'd never imagined Enzo among children, though it made sense in hindsight. "Ah well, that makes sense then." He was a little afraid to ask questions, knowing how willfully the other could shift gears and decide to shut down on the subject. "Were they also... like you?" Street kids, orphans, whatever... he didn't know the word. Maybe they were actually his siblings, Kosei had never had siblings so didn't feel equipped to know.

"I thought that was what you were agreeing to. Of course you're dumb." He laughed, finishing off his drink. It wasn't ideal to order further as he was prone to going a bit too far with alcohol involved and Enzo was usually his enabler.

Who else? Kosei knew better than to imply anyone else. Especially because he knew Enzo had been a dog, but for some reason seemed focused on him as of late. In truth, he didn't really know what to name it. Hell, Kosei had been a dog too, in his own stupid and stumbling way. He'd been terrible at it, considering he'd gotten a woman pregnant relatively soon. A nightmare of a woman.

"Oh uh sure, yeah." Was the other that horny? Well shit. He snorted, shaking his head as he fished out the money necessary to pay off the tab.

They were all probably expecting him to fail, so there was really the question of should he resist failure or give in? Was it worth the effort if, in the end, he failed regardless. Even if Enzo miraculously behaved, there was all likeliness that it would never be enough or that it wouldn't last long enough to prove that Kosei wasn't a failure. It was a losing game either way. How fucking depressing. Did they all hate him that fucking much? Probably. His family stood for all the things they lacked.

"Okay, maybe it does fucking matter. All of it does, but you wouldn't understand because no one bothers to put you under a microscope. Assuming the worse in your case is better than expecting it in mine." Maybe that was unfair, after all he didn't even really know this guy beyond a surface level. As far as he saw, they both suffered from the same pot and kettle mentality, but that wasn't going to change anytime soon.

Though maybe Enzo had a point, but he hadn't actually signed up for a good time. Their idea of it was extremely different, even if Enzo made him think about breaking the rules and other... things. It didn't matter. Maybe this was the only chance he'd get to be less than perfect and not be judged for it. Or it was a trick. Still, he decided to tip the bottle back and drink. A lot. It burned on the way down and he cringed at the taste though it was significantly less bad by that point. "Happy?"

Puppy dog. He grimaced at that word, though barely had it in him anymore to fight the other. It was clear that Enzo was the stubborn sort of asshole that didn't know when to let go after he'd clamped on. Rather like a dog himself in that, he barely suppressed the smirk that thought provoked. What he should've been doing though was reminding the other he was not his dog and if he didn't get that through his head he'd remind him through less gentle means.

What he didn't think about and neglected to consider, was that he was not adept with alcohol. In fact, quite the opposite. Not to mention the pressure the other put him under to let loose, okay... well maybe he decided it was better to show him up than to remain stalwart. He was beginning to regret his decision to drink that last drink. It hadn't even been good tasting. It was like gasoline or battery acid. Terrible shit and yet he couldn't stop.

There was something about Enzo that made him feel uncomfortable. He knew exactly what it was, but he wasn't going to admit to it. Even if the alcohol made it all the more apparent. His face felt hot, but it felt good.

"You're good with her, you know? It's a little surprising." He had to admit. Maybe even better than him, well... definitely better than him at the start, which was surprising. Enzo had a surprising amount of patience where even Kosei somewhat lacked. Miu was good at vexing, as any six-year-old was prone to be. Before her, Kosei would have never imagined having a child. It wasn't in his blood and sometimes he still wondered if he was a good father.

"You're still wily, what are you talking about? I like both halves of you, though... it's nice to know you're still your old dumb self." He couldn't imagine how things would change if Enzo fully embodied the cold, calculating man behind the desk of the Nimbus all of the time. Of course, past-Kosei hadn't really appreciated that wiliness all that much, but now hell if he wasn't damn fond of it. The persona was sexy, don't get him wrong, but it had limits to when he enjoyed the unexpected luxury of knowing Enzo's more vulnerable side. Even if he kept most of his cards still firmly hidden away. Kosei had his own share of secrets, even if he'd grown lazy or clumsy with hiding them.

Miu had made him more emotional, but in a way, he knew he'd always been that way and was simply unpracticed with it. Or at least that was his excuse for being so god awful talking about it.

Younger Kosei had been afraid that one day Enzo would reach the top and not be content with the things that reminded him of the bottom, his partner in crime included. Now, well... it was nice to know the top had not deprived him of everything.

"No, don't stop. Idiot." He scoffed, rolling his eyes at the admittance. He liked the stupid sappiness of it. "So I'm guessing you've decided that someone is me?"

He snickered at that, brushing some hair from the corner of his face. His fingers returned to draw the paths of thick tattoos, inviting any shivers that might follow. He liked the grind of sleep still clinging to the other's voice.

This felt special, didn't it? Or was it only in his head? That was plausible. Kosei didn't think himself an idealist and he certainly didn't fall into the category of romantic, but Enzo inspired annoying thoughts and hopes in him. He always had, but neither of them had been ready for this ideas back then.

"You want breakfast?" He cooked a mean omelet and, sadly, Miu never appreciated them. She preferred her lightly-salted scrambled eggs (extra fluffy, "like clouds"). Despite the question posed, he rolled until his face was planted against the other's chest, "I will in five minutes."

"Shut up." He muttered, both desperately hoping the other would take the hint while also knowing he wouldn't. Leave it to Enzo to bring out the half of him that he certainly wasn't proud of showing. It had been quite a while since he'd last resorted to such bitter measures and he didn't like being reminded that deep down he was terrible. He was good at being terrible and that wasn't likely ever going to change.

Kosei rolled his eyes at that, "Blame me all you want, doesn't change the fact that you wanted that reaction." And he'd fallen for it — hook, line, and sink. A dead fish.

As if he wouldn't do it again under similar circumstances. He would in a heartbeat. Like a dog barking at anyone stupid enough to stray into his yard. Mine. That was all that mattered, Enzo was his.

The kiss came with great anticipation and he folded into it, of course. Yet he wasn't about to end the game then and there, it was clear that Enzo was looking for a specific version of him tonight. How interesting. "They seem easily distracted." His hand wound around the other's tie, tugging him. "Move, De Luca."

Sleep had rarely felt so sound before. Certainly not with the curling of various limbs and the mingled warmth of two bodies. This felt like a rare treat, even more so the fact that he was waking without the driving force of a hangover accompanying it. Annoyingly, he had seemingly burrowed up against the other in the middle of the night. The familiar scent of Enzo filled up the space around him. His fingers drew light, barely-there patterns on hot skin and it just felt nice.

It was also nice not waking to a pit of confusion or panic. There was no wayward six-year-old around to discover them and, for once, they maybe sorta mostly knew where the other stood. Sure, he still didn't know what to call their relationship, but there was at least something there worth naming, right?

It was a stupid thing to wonder about as he drifted back to the memory of the prior night. His eyes opened lazily, blinking the bleary sleepiness from them until he see the other more clearly, the defined curve of muscles, the contour of his face. He was stupidly attractive and that had always been the bane of his existence. His fingers moved with a touch more direction, following the curl of dark ink that stained the other man's skin. He could get used to this.

Maybe it was his fault, in the end, that people assumed things about him. It wasn't like he gave them reason to anyways. Part of him wanted to be perceived as nothing but the perfect Kiryu boy, yet even being known as that didn't guarantee that his family would look at him with any other expectation than for him to disappoint them. It also didn't guarantee his happiness.

Still, there was expectation on him, even more so now than before. Somehow, he was supposed to control this degenerate human being and make him want to be there. Clearly, there was no forcing Enzo into anything and he was severely wasting his time in trying to do so. If anything, it was setting him up for failure from the very start and the school likely knew that. All the more reason to try and bring him down and probably an attempt to mock his family. He was used to being used as an instrument for someone else's goal, but this felt cruel.

Yet, Enzo didn't care about that. "Why bother? I have no reason to prove anything to you and you have no reason to care. Even right now, the only reason you're here is to prove a point and you're too stupid to even realize it. They want you to be exactly what you are to prove that me and my family are not so perfect, but I already knew that. Even if my family pretends otherwise."

He sighed, shaking his head at the other's insistence before sipping again. If it was always set up with the intension of failure, what did he have to lose? Not much, apparently. In the end, it didn't take much to persuade him to give up his family.

Enzo was somehow being less obnoxious than normal, maybe even considerate. It was a little unexpected of him and, at any moment, he expected the curtain to fall and the other to provoke him or a reaction as he often would. Maybe the hotspring had done something to the other man's head and made him less of a jackass. Kosei wasn't entirely sold on it, but admittedly, he was still thankful for the moment of peace as he retrieved his clothes and dressed.

Now, it was time to see what other thing the other had planned for him. Drinking, of course. It wasn't like Kosei had never tasted alcohol. Sometimes, during formal events, his father would bring out alcohol, though the man didn't like it in the household under normal circumstances. Clouds the mind, he'd say.

"Alright," He said, shrugging. This time, not exactly putting up much complaint. Maybe the hot springs had done the job or relaxing him to the point none of it mattered, he wasn't sure. They weren't doing work, so what else did they have to do? "Lead the way."

"Oh shut up," He scoffed at that, though the last thing he wanted was for Enzo to stop talking. Admittedly, he liked it and Enzo knew that (annoyingly). Enzo managed to shuffle them down the hall, stumbling only once only a misplaced toy. He pressed a laugh against the other's throat, muffling the little noise of being temporarily pushed against the wall. It was a messy display, not exactly graceful.

It felt odd to him still, that after such a lengthy period of both hating and missing the other, they'd find end up as they were (tangled and breathy). Enzo made him feel a hundred different ways and no one had ever managed to provoke that kind of response from him. No one else likely ever would. It felt singularly Enzo's, this feeling, which was somewhat frightening still. They felt like they were two blind men, trying to figure their way through this mess with their hands and their mouths, bound to fuck it up along the way. That wasn't exactly the recipe for a stable relationship, but that hardly mattered to him right then.

"More." He breathed, shivering under the contact of hands and mouths, need slipping through his tone. If was a game to be played to see who folded first, he would gladly do so. If only to provoke the other further. It wasn't about pride, none of this was. It wasn't even simply about need, it felt like something more than that. His hands slipped through hair, carelessly tugging and slipping down to travel under clothing, draw lines across muscle and skin. They'd worry over the details the next day, probably... Or, at least, he would.
